Pre race communication was sufficient
Packet pick up was easy at the local shoe store which usually has a tent sale on running shoes
Plenty of hotels to choose from and free parking at start/finish lines
Shotgun start was exciting, with several pacers from 1:45 to 2:45
Not very scenic, mostly on city streets with a 2 mile trail a mile in and 2 mile run through Spring Lake park around mile 8.
Course has a small rolling hills with about 300 feet gain
Aid stations were plentiful and well staffed
Finish line was at Hopkins Ice House were you could order food and drinks
Post race celebration was excellent, with hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, pinto beans, fruit, protein bars, water, Gatorade, body armor, sodas, and beer.
Swag was super cool medal with Texas and Arkansas both on it and shirt was dri-fit long sleeve shirt.
I definitely recommend this race and will be running it again since it is my hometown race.

Smaller race with about 500 runners between the full, half and 5K
Packet pick up was small, not a expo really
They bus you out to the starting line
Mostly flat course with the exception of the Mississippi River bridge during your first mile.
Fast course, I missed a PR by just a few seconds
Scenery was non existent , other than a nice sunrise over the river on the bus ride out to starting line.
Shirt was a nice dri-fit long sleeve shirt, medal cool with the Mississippi River bridge on it.
Overall and age group winners received very nice trophies
Post race snacks were plentiful, including tamales, pizza, sausage biscuits, donuts, fruit, sodas, chocolate milk, and beer.
The water in this town was brown, be sure to bring bottled water
Overall a great race that I highly recommend!

Pre race communication was awesome, weekly emails start 6 weeks out
Expo and packet pickup was top notch, convention center was packed with vendors
Pre race Spaghetti supper was super with spaghetti and meatballs, bread, salad, cookies, ice cream, coffee, and chocolate milk
Morning of race parking was a challenge and hectic, we parked in a lot that took a while to get out with all the roads closing. Take the bus if possible
They bus you out to the start, bathrooms at start had very long lines, which is understandable with 7500 runners
Course was along Lake Superior and was easy, mostly flat. Course support was phenomenal!
Aid stations was plentiful and well staffed and well placed.

Expo was small with several vendors, packet pickup was easy
Pre race spaghetti supper was top notch with spaghetti, salad, bread, and fruit
I was not a fan of the start, it didn’t have an official start, runners just started whenever between 7:30 and 8. No National Anthem and pre race excitement.
Course was on a trial, was mostly downhill, course support was sufficient. Scenery was awesome!
Post race snacks were adequate
Massage tables was a nice feature $1 per minute
Race swag was okay
We spent 5 days exploring the area, so much to do. Great destination race!

Pre race communication was sufficient
Expo was top notch and super easy packet pick up. I spent 15 minutes on compression boots to help my legs recover from running Indy Mini earlier that day
Staff and volunteers were great
Swag was very nice, heavy medal and T-shirt was nothing fancy
Race day we were greeted with thunderstorms and heavy rain, some people felt the race should not been delayed, but I was glad that they let us run.
They did issue a shelter in place, so I stopped for a few minutes, but a lot of runners continued to race.
It felt so good running in the rain!
Course did have some incline, but it did not seem as bad as I thought it would be
Aid stations were plentiful and well staffed
Since this is a bigger race there was some congestion for a couple of miles.
Crowd support was phenomenal even with the storms
Post race party was good in spite of the weather
Overall a very good race and I would definitely recommend it

Expo was top notch! Huge event!
Pre race communication was great!
Course was flat and fast and had plenty of aid stations, I think 1 for every mile, course support was awesome! One lap around the speedway was a nice touch.
You might want to get in a earlier corral since this was a big race with lots of runners, it was a little congested first couple of miles.
Post race party was fantastic, they had about 20 massage tables set up, which was awesome
Swag was a very nice medal and a long sleeve T-shirt

Crowd support was phenomenal along with staff and volunteers
Aid stations were plentiful, I believe 7 total with restrooms at each.
Swag was a dri fit long sleeve shirt and medal was nice and heavy with both states in glitter
Post race had burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, cookies, and fruit

Honor run supports a great cause, it raised $45k for honor flights for veterans.
I ran the race in memory of my wife’s grandfather who was a WWII vet and she ran in honor of her uncles who were Vietnam vets.
Morning started with the reading of Johnny Cash’s Ragged Old Flag, followed by National Anthem, and Taps.
It was very cold 30 degrees at the start and snowed the day before. The mall was open to get out of the cold before the race
Course ran through town and all roads were closed. Scenery was average.
Though it was hilly, it was not as bad as I expected from everything I had read.
Aid stations were plentiful and had water and Gatorade.
Post race had Jersey Mike sandwiches, chili dogs, bananas, water, chips, granola bars, and my favorite chocolate milk! Also had coffee truck and massage tables.
Packet pick up was at Florence mall, no expo.
Swag was a very nice medal with a Korean War soldiers on back. Shirt was long sleeve neon dri-fit.

This was my 6th vacation race and it was my least favorite of all.
Staff and volunteers were phenomenal as usual!
I ran the Gator Double-5K on Friday and Half Marathon on Saturday, and I did not care for either course.
Scenery was lacking on both courses, half marathon course had some very muddy sections that I know that race director has no control over. Very average.
Expo and post race were overall great.

Great production from the great people of Why Racing. Staff and volunteers were top notch.
Smaller race with several options to choose from over 2 days.
You get to run a trail around Henry Hagg lake with parts on the road.
Communication pre race was often and precise.
Parking was $7 and you can purchase when register for the race.
They also had camping at the lake rear the starting line.
Packet pick up was easy with several vendors.
Pre race they had fried oatmeal and coffee.
On the course there were limited aid stations maybe 3 total, which had water, Gatorade, gels, and fruit.
Bathrooms were only in a couple of spots on the course.
You get a post race meal hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, fruit, cookies, water and Gatorade

National Anthem was played by a guy with a guitar which was pretty cool
Plenty of aid stations with bananas, oranges, goldfish, gummies, granola bars, water and hydration recovery drink
Finish line had stainless steel water bottles, granola bars, bananas, oranges. Also had compression recovery boots, they felt real nice on sore legs!
One thing I was not a fan of is that top 3 overall winners were eligible for age group awards too. I am only saying this since I finished 4th in my age group and the first place finisher was 3rd overall. I guess I should have run faster. Lol

Great race with outstanding staff and volunteers, same folks put this race on as the big race in Little Rock in March.
They run the race at 4pm so with Arkansas weather you never know, 1st year I ran it perfect temps in the 50s this year hot and humid temps pushing 80.
Race swag is great! awesome finishers medal and a hoodie that both glow in the dark!
A lot of folks dress up since it is close to Halloween
Scenic views through the park and along the river. I seen several deer this year.
Nice paved trail course with a section on a gravel road
I would recommend this race

Watch the sunrise on the highway in the town.
Lots if down hill the first half in the highway then leads into town through some neighborhoods and would normally finish on K-State football field but COVID changed it this year. I think it has since returned to that finish.
Plenty of aid stations
COVID effected post race activities
Decent swag dr-fit shirt and medal
I would recommend this race

Loop course which you had to do 3 times for the half. On 1 of my loops through a parking lot a delivery truck was blocking your way.
It was very hot and humid but it was August when I ran it.
