Get ready for an exhilarating race experience with our upgraded course at Wicked Fast Montana! We’ve made significant improvements by NOW starting on Trail Creek Rd and eliminating the last 8 challenging hilly miles, now concluding in Sacagawea Park. This newly designed 26.2-mile course features a scenic and rolling downhill route that avoids those final hills at the end, ensuring a faster finish into Livingston.
The race kicks off at the top of Trail Creek Road, where you’ll embark on a gradual “rolling” downhill course. You’ll glide down a wide, hard-packed dirt road for the first 20 miles surrounded by the majestic Absaroka Mountain Range—truly a sight to behold! After a left turn onto Yellowstone Trail Road, you’ll continue your gradual descent immersing yourself in the natural beauty around you. As you approach the final 6 miles, you’ll transition to a smooth, paved running and bike path that leads you into the charming town of Livingston and ultimately to Sacagawea Park, nestled along the serene Yellowstone River. Join us for this remarkable race and experience the thrill of running through stunning landscapes, fun finish line festivities, while enjoying a fast PR and/or BQ finish in YELLOWSTONE COUNTRY!

This was a brand new race. In the spring I received the teaser email “ All downhill (2500 ft drop), Pr Course.” However, BAA changed their course qualifications so Wicked Fast ( formerly Jack and Jill) reworked the race. The new race was now a 1400 foot drop with 20 miles on rolling hills, gravel road with pot holes, and muddy obstacles. The aid stations were great, race announcer was fun and the finish was good. I did shave a couple of minutes off my time but probably would not have picked this race if I had known the terrain/course ahead of time. If you are looking for a scenic trail race, great weather, and wide roads this is for you.
Ok at best

The run felt very unorganized. The start lines were a mess and the volunteers were absolutely no help with that. The directions were nonsense. The race itself was beautiful, it is Montana, how could it not be? There were plenty of water stations and the volunteers at the water stations were awesome. There was not much in the way of swag, but I don’t run for swag anyway so that made no difference to me. The route was mostly trail, it was off the beaten path for probably 98% of the run. Only a mile or so was on pavement. That’s win in my book. If gravel roads are not your thing, then this run isn’t for you.
2025 was a weird year to run it

The race transitioned from Jack and Jills Downhill to Wicked Fast after Boston changed their application rules to penalize downhill races. The result for Montana was a new route, old swag, and a little less organization than I prefer. Regardless, it was good and I was glad I did it. The elevation drop over the 26.47 miles (seemed a bit long to me) was great, with no really steep parts and quite a bit of really gradual elevation loss. My only complaint about the new course was that it is difficult to set a PB when the course has 21 miles of loose and/or muddy gravel road. If you hate asphalt, this may be the race for you. And Paradise Valley is beautiful.
