The course runs along the Eastern border of Glacier National Park. You’ll climb for the first 5 miles and then it’s all downhill. Along the way you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of Glacier National Park and the prairies at its base as you climb Looking Glass Hill. You’ll gaze at Two Medicine Lake during miles 5-8 and you’ll finish on the front lawn of the beautiful historic Glacier Park Lodge for the awards ceremony, photos, food, and more. (Most of the pre- and post-race activities will be held in East Glacier Park Village, MT.)

Absolutely beautiful and amazing course! The first 5 miles were an incline, but that meant for pretty smooth sailing to the finish. Zero cell service, so the live tracking option available wouldn’t even work for me. But definitely an amazing race! I love Vacation Races at all the National Parks! Highly Recommend!

The weather was a little cool at the start but most welcoming for a good run. The course is very challenging with a five mule climb out of the gate but the worst part in my opinion is the slant to the road.
My goal for this race was to beat my time the first time I ran it, to my advantage I knew what to expect. Unfortunately, I did not accomplish my goal primarily because of the lack of training. If I look on the bright side it gives me another reason to do this race again.
Do it for the view!

If you are considering signing up for this race, just DO IT! Simply breathtaking views on a course that will push you to your limits, but also allow you to fall in love with running mile after mile. EXTREMELY impressed with the level of organization from Vacation Races. You can tell every detail was well thought through and executed wonderfully. I would love to do it again! 100000000/10

As far as race morning goes, I was not a huge fan of how we had to get to the start line. They did not allow runner drop offs and you had to take a shuttle to the start. The last shuttle left an hour before race start. We arrived at the start line, which was at the side of a road. We were left sitting in the cold for too long in my opinion. They do have a bag drop off, so definitely overdress and utilize that. It was in the upper 30s-low 40s.
The course was beautiful. The hill was not as bad as I was anticipating. They advertised a 5 mile uphill, but the first mile was mostly flat- slightly downhill. The next 4 miles were all uphill so by mile 5 there was a very nice downhill. You can make up a lot of time on the downhill!
There were no spectators on the course other than people at the aid stations. I do love vacation races though and I would definitely do this again.

I have done 18 VR races. The mountain views from mile 4-8 were spectacular views of the mountains and rival the Colorado Rockies VR half marathon. Do some up hill training for the initial 5 miles. I highly recommend the race even if you are in your mid 80s. Every VR has some unique scenery esp. Sagurao NP in AZ and the parks in southern Utah. But this race is one of my favorites. My last trip to Glacier NP 70 yrs ago when I was 15 and rode in the same red open top buses.

This was my first VR and first half marathon. I’m so not a fast runner and was worried I’d be out of my league. Everyone was so friendly and encouraging. It was an excellent, challenging course but I loved every inch of it. Super well organized, spectacular scenery, warnings of bears on the course ahead! What more could you ask for? Will definitely do this one again. And I never actually saw a bear but it was exciting anyway!

The first 5 miles are indeed all uphill! But you are rewarded with some amazing views of Glacier National Park! This was probably my toughest run, but all of the aid stations had everything (water, electrolytes, goo). Police and park ranger presence was also key because there were TWO bears near our race path and they kept us safe and the bears away. The medal is by far my favorite of the 7 I have now! Overall I definitely recommend this race for everyone!

Great excuse to go to Glacier National Park… race was extremely well designed and explained with copious pages of detailed instructions. Note 20% of runners were their first half marathon… wow. This is not an easy race!
You race next to the park with nice views of woods, mountains and water. First 5 miles up, next 5 down, then 1 mile flat, 1 mile back up, and the last mile is on grass, golf cart path and gravel. Race ends at the East Glacier Lodge (where I stayed) pricey but cool to walk to my room and easy to have family there at the end. Good water stops, you have to carry your own container. Finish food was good, shirt and medal too!
Ok my complaints. The race starts early at 6am, but you have to take a shuttle ~15 miles to the start between 4am and 5am so you have to get up at 3ish to make it all work. Then after the shuttle drops you off you have to stand in the shoulder of the road for 60-90 minutes. Too much waiting….and by the way it was 37 degrees. Not to mention not enough potties for 1500 people….. but not horrible.
