The generosity started with the race check-in given a first class, advanced fabric shirt and a generous bag of goodies. Tables with goodies were available for selection as you walked the check in Tia. The day of the race was very well stocked with many generous food items to select. None of those things are expected, but we’re sure amazing to participate in. The entire race experience felt very well respected and cherished by the community. Noticed lots of participation by families at all various distances with lots of little kids, running the 1 mile race. A joy to see.
Most generous race yet.

BGC Racing puts on a great event and the reason I have done this one twice.
Pricing is always on the lower side, communication is great.
Packet pickup, pre-race, start, finish and post race is all at the same place, Brookshires Grocery Arena and there is plenty of free parking. A few road closures this year made for a bit of traffic with only one entrance to the parking. They did hold the start twenty minutes.
The course is fast and flat. The first four or five miles are down non-scenic views of local businesses and running along side of traffic. The remaining miles are on blocked roads or a paved river side path. No hills just some gentle slight inclines but still fast.
Pacers were present, good aid stations with water and sports drink. Little to no on course spectators other than at the aid stations.
Swag – shirt and great finisher medal. Also at bib pickup several items in the bag, different every year.
Post race there are several vendors handing out items. You always see people leaving with bag, boxes, wagons and arms full of free food/drink items. They have a band playing adding to the atmosphere.
You used to get a bonus medal if you ran this and the other Brookshire event but not this year and while goofy, was part of the reason I run this one.
My second year running this event and bth years were good weather, well produced run and for me a quick overnight trip. Not so sure there is much to do in the local area other than casino gambling if anyone is planning on making this a weekend.
Loved this race

Another great event from BGC Racing. I have run the Fresh 15 in Tyler many times and this BGC race is just as well produced at the Fresh 15.
Event was held at an events center/arena so parking was super easy and free.
Packet pickup well organized and quick. Great event shirt as well as man6 other freebies in the bag from socks, mug, snacks, coupons, the list goes on.
This is a three distance event. Half, 5k & 1k. Half starts first. There were 378 finishers in the half this year. Course was flat other than a small incline on the last mile. Water stops every two miles. Not really a scenic course but at times you are running down the road along the Red River.
Great support.
Finish line great. Awesome medal.
Post race event, band playing, lots more freebies and samples. There water also vintage military equipment on display.
BGC does a great job. BGC = Brookshires Grocery
Also all race fees go to charity. This event they gave back over $75,000
I will return to do this event and might make it an annual event along with the Fresh 15

This race went virtual and I was really disappointed since I had run it the year before and it was wonderful. My friend and I did it together but it would have been fun to do it in person since it was my friends first half marathon.

This is one of the best swags I have ever received from a race. I didn’t expect a blanket post-race. It was a nice surprise at the finish line. This was my first Heroes Run HM. I am pleased that this was my Louisiana HM race I’ve participated because the people are amazing, very generous and supportive. The course scenery was somewhat nice. A few hills but mainly flat. The temperature was 54 degrees throughout the morning and drizzling. The support was motivating throughout the race. Hydration station at every mile. Very well organized race. I highly recommend this race.

I settled on doing the 5k this year due to leg issues and I still felt like from a production stand point these people put into best. From swag to after party it really is hands down amazing. They give away so much stuff and even down to the kids 1k they make it feel important. I plan to be involved in this race every year.

First I will say that the event itself is awesome. From the packet pickup to the post race party you couldn’t ask for a better experience. The course though it pretty boring. After the first mile it’s pretty much running down a long road crossing a bridge and coming back. If you want some awesome swag this race is for you but the scenery leaves a lot to be desired.
