Nice cool day do 50k. So I was doing this series and found a nice cool day. Perfect let’s do 50k. It wasn’t quite as easy as the one I did two days ago but that’s what this is all about getting lots of races and miles. Was happy to knock it out. Cheers and Godspeed.

Evening Marathon-he running surface was cracked asphalt for all 26 it was hard to navigate the rough surface with just a hand held. The temperature was an issue. 52.4 in 24hrs.

Race day pickup was nice. There was the option of camping overnight. So the two days before the event it rained. So we were lucky that the majority had drained off before the race. However, there were pockets of very muddy trails. So muddy I though I would loose my shoe three times. Wouldn’t be embarrassing to leave your shoe in a mud hole. So we found all the elevation that could be thrown against us. And some of those up hills well you had to keep moving or fall backward. So to put it this way, it was all I could do to finish the 13 miles. I am sure that the younger runners really enjoyed it. Cheers

Really hot start, 6.2 laps x 5 for 31 miles. 2 track, 1 track and grass. So for fun throw in tons of sand, rocks and roots. They promised lots of support in 10k there were two manned and one unmanned aid stations. This is the hardest race I can remember.

The packet pickup was the day of the race. Start was 6 PM however, I started at 10PM with the RDs approval. Simple, stay cool, run in the dark on asphalt, gravel, and grass. Happy I had friends to run with on my all nighter. I suppose I could have run with no one to talk to but friends make it go faster. Was done in 10 hours but 14 hours of the 24. Maybe next time 50 miles instead of 50k. Cheers and see you’ll out there.

I now have completed 184 marathons and 54 halves. The 12 day series was hard for me because of injury and stomach issues. To say the least I survived the 12. My original plan was 12 full but the end result was 8 x 26 and 4 x 13. That is still a lot of races. This was my 3rd Running Ragged this year which gives me a Triple Crown. 3 belt buckles in a shadow box.

The signup is now done on your phone… kool. The packet pickup is at one of the local three Fleet Feet Stores. Racers get discounts on merchandise. This years race was the 20th. This race while put on by Fleet Feet has the largest draw of any 5k in the Tulsa area. Racers come from all over the state and out of state. This year there were 1600 participants. Unfortunately the race start was a 78 degrees temperature and finished at 81. Despite heat and humidity I managed a steady pace between 10-11. So not bad for a hot day. Downtown Tulsa is know for Art Deco buildings and the race starts next to the Blue Dome. While as a local I know the area well, out of towers appreciate the feel and the warmth of the locals. Come see us on the 4th. Cheers and Godspeed.

I do series of marathons, and the more I do the slower I get. Well, almost. This was my 11 marathon of the series. We had one of those crisp cool days with a lite breeze to start. The early start of course… Maine was there to meet me with a fun day. Suddenly it was Saturday run day, I didn’t have much to prove after 10 days of marathons but a beautiful slightly hilly course unfolded in front of me. The first seven laps were done in 3 hours that’s good for a 72 year old. So I went into overdrive just seven to go. Up the wooded hilly trail to the asphalt rood and past the only spectators to the red turnaround cone. 7 last times. It looked close to finish in 6:30 so the last mile was full throttle. I t was going to be close breaking out of the trees into the parking lot a mad dash past several runners and ring the bell. 6:29:32 I still had 31 seconds to go. Well maybe next race I hit the exact time. Keep Moving my friends, Keep moving.

Mainly offers runners course that are easy for beginners and great for walkers. The general plan is an out and back that continues the number of laps necessary to finish a marathon or half generally 12 for full and 6 for half. One aid station is available every lap which means every 2 or so miles. Hot food, every kind of runner or ultra fare is there. The other really nice thing that happens is every lap you see every person. So if you want to run the race but your buddy is slow then they go slow and see you once or twice a lap. That means everyone does their own pace. It is really a social time to meet lots of new people. Come out I am usually there just ask someone who is Michael. Cheers and see you soon. Keep moving and #GetYourKicksOnRoute66

Today’s course was a new course that had not been done before. We had a hilly road with mixed rocks and filler. I would not call this a technical race but it hard as the rock size was large enough to cause to have difficulty with your ankles. The day was also hot which added to the work of being 8 hours in the sun. So the good, the aid station was well stocked- they had lots of ice. They made pizza bread. There were three ports potties every mile. All my friends were there including Clyde Shank who completed his 500th marathon.

Delaware prides itself to be called “the first state” but to me it was a new state on my way to complete my first time around the 50 states. I went the distance with my #loony #50States #marathonmaniacs #halffanatics friends. It was hot but our brothers at Mainly Marathons feed us, watered and popsicles us to the finish. I love mainly races because they know how to take care of the runners. We of course got swag, series shirts, series medal, race medal, and if you finish the series a series finisher medal. Those that RunRagged (complete both Independence Series and New England Series) received the coveted Belt Buckle. First timers get a special medal and a free second race. Sound pretty Loony to me… but after all I am loony.

I just really love running e Mainly Marathons. This Is my second marathon in ND. The first was Fargo. Since this was the last of eight days of races; it tends to be harder. But fortunately the day before I did a half. My recovery after a half is better than after a full and I rode out a wet windy start to the finish. Unfortunately, we don’t control the weather but we always can decide to run with friends and I sure appreciate my mainly loonitics. Cheers and see you out there. Michael

Not only is the course to a Nasccar track it also is one of the most beautiful course I have run. Story is I have already done three marathons in TN. It was time for me to do a half. I also must admit at 72 I need a break every once in a while. So the closest I came to a rest day was a half. So many races and so little time to do them. Keep moving my friends.

Okay this is probably what you don’t want to hear! The expo was a bib pickup at the start line not where it was said to be. One of my friends turned his ankle at the bib pickup. The race had the turns marked on the ground however for the first few miles we had 5k, 10k, half, and full on the same course and of course the signage was hidden under racers feet not to mention that the start was somewhat chaos with slow runners in front of faster runners. There was a turn less than 50 yards from the start. So we first saw the industrial side of Jackson before heading out several miles on a boulevard to turn around for our fourth out and back. The race had lots of turns so on the second lap when we only had 220 on the course it was easy to see the turns. There is a section of out and back close to the capitol that is hilly this was probably my favorite section because with the hills and houses it was quite pretty. I confirm what others have said there are holes to turn your ankles in and holes that might break your leg if your shoe gets caught. It was advertised as having pacers and there were none. It was advertised as having lots of music; on the second lap there was none. Lots of promises but not much substance. I told the assistant race director about the signage problem. No no no I am not going back so many other races I can do.

The expo this year was a bib pickup due to covid restrictions. The race always has a great long sleeve shirt and a nice medal. This year the end featured pizza, candy bars, water and beer. There also was a fireball stand on the last mile. This 15k(9.3) race starts in downtown goes thru the Gathering Place and visits the Route 66 bridge before climbing up Bolder and Boston Street. There is music and dancing even at 8:00 am. I love this race, I competed in the Walker division in 2016 and took Third overall. So I am hooked… with the cold weather 40F start and 57F finish, I added another PR. So come see us and meet some friendly people… don’t be afraid of the crazy Halloween costumes you find there.

This was a covid race so the expo was just a bib pickup… the people were very friendly. The bib is solid black with your numbers on it. The race is point to point so there is an early bus ride. We decided to stay at the race hotel to catch the bus there, problem no bus back to the hotel. It would have been better to drive to the bus area. Please don’t spend the extra money.
The race starts about 150 meters above the bus parking area. As promised it was cold at this elevation. The first 3 and 1/2 miles are downhill. There is a surprise uphill between 4 and 5, then down again to mile 10. After that you are running up and down continuously to the finish. This seventy-one year old was very challenged on the back half. This race has good organization but is challenging because of the altitude. I am happy to have finished but so sore afterwards. I would not recommend it to a beginning runner. So happy to have finished State #39.

I came to Nebraska having run this marathon in 2018. I knew it would be hot however this time I planned better for it. I had run some very hot days in Oklahoma training. 1. The expo was just a bib pickup, you had the option of same day pickup. 2. The scenery was great in the neighborhoods however we had long straight aways 4 times of which 3 were done twice with little shade. My friend told me, it would have been better and easier to do two Half loops. 3.We ran on a lot of concrete- not my favorite surface however the concrete was in better shape than the asphalt street. 4. The stops had water, gatorade, and gels. Some had 12oz bottles which I picked up every time. 5. My plan was to pour water on me every mile and take salt every hour. Doing this did keep me much cooler than my first race here. 6. The finisher and AG awards are pretty nice and you get a long sleeve cotton shirt. 7. The marathon course has many turns in one neighborhood and I was looking for signs they were few and not well placed, fortunately I was able to ask a volunteer. This seems to have been a problem with the faster runners as some were a little lost. Overall, this is a close race for me to do but it isn’t my favorite because the weather this time of year can be challenging.

Hey, it looks like things are pretty much back to normal in Portland. We ran this race sponsored by Foot Traffic. They had put in limited numbers for this year 2021. We were 112 in the Marathon. The first par of the race is from the Pumpkin Patch to the levee. So it was completely flat then up a tiny bit to the levee. I really enjoyed the run down the levee and back. This was the scenic part of the race. However, most of the race is not shaded so the early start and your speed controls how much you bake in the July sun. After those two parts we ran the half course back to the start. As people woke up so did the traffic on the road. Most of the time we had traffic only one direction but when drivers entered the course between roadblocks we were scrambling out of their way. So it is done and number 35 state is in the books. Happy running to all.

We rush from Eisenhower Marathon in Kansas to do this race the next day. We were able to find parking and pickup our bibs with lots of time to spare. The race start was supposed to be Covid 19 proof however many of the runners weren’t wearing masks. We had staggered wave starts. The first 13 miles of the race is rollers in neighborhoods with a lot of shade. Unfortunately the second half is on a different loop. We were exposed to 88F temperature with little to no shade. There were lots of drink stops fortunately. As I am slow I worried about the 3:15 cutoff for the first have which I easily beat at 2:50 however after reaching mile 18 I had race officials coming to me every mile asking me to speed up. I did and was on course to finish at 6:30 when at mile 22 the police required me to get on the non-existent sidewalk. Of course they removed the markings of the course. So instead of finishing at 6:30 I finished at 6:50 after going a long ways off course. Who’s fault I believe the Police and the city’s. However, it wish the race well they can’t control the weather or the police. Cheers, see you out there.

Prerace communications were great. There was a bib pickup but not really an expo as this is a small race. We had a 7:00 start which went off on time and smoothly. For a small race there was an abundance of pacers. The race course was easy after the first lap. I would of liked more course markings if I was running alone. The RD does not like mile markers so we were watching our watches more than normal. The shirt and medal were themed to the race and I doubled this race with Lincoln Marathon. Race day was okay early but the heat and wind came in at the finish- Please note I took my time.

Nice place to have a race. We were a little shocked that covid19 rules weren’t followed. Lots of runners starting with no masks and no distance between runners. The course was scenic in a gated community. We did see the Ocean at one location. The first three and last three miles were down a highway. The final three involved dodging some traffic. The bling was a medal fanatic, sunglasses, and a soft cotton shirt. No shirts left the correct size for my wife. Again at the finish, the medals were given out by non-masked individuals who wanted to shake our hands. Then came the knuckle bump which I didn’t do either. But finally they were happy with an elbow bump. I guest that’s life in GA.

As I was running this Marathon one of the other runners asked me how many marathons I had run on this trail? The answer was 12. Cowtown, the Texas Double and Texas Quad were some of them. So this is Fort Worth’s contribution to the Covid era. Almost every weekend there are marathons here. And one of the best groups to race with is Cox Running. They are professionals in their work. Great timing, medals, shirts, water stop are key marks to their race production. Great value in price and runners putting on races for runners.

This race depends on weather especially wind. It is totally flat except for 2.5+ miles of bridge. The course 1-5 is alongside a lake then at miles 6-20 are on the highway to Greenville- this is exposed to wind especially the bridge. This time the wind was moderate and enjoyable. Was able to push my hamstrings which are still healing. So I made reasonably good time… the next part 21-26 is in town running which to me was the nicest part. We ran through a gated community where I had sausage and beer. Remember go easy on the sausage in a race. So I kicked some on the last three miles which of course is pancake flat. There was a small after party with runners distanced from one another. I was able to meet some people from around the country. Thanks John Conner, RD for a great race.

I picked-up my bib at the fitness gym at about 2:00. Would have liked a later pickup time as I drove 7 hours to get there. I was in the early start so another night of less sleep before the marathon 4:00 sign in. We left at 4:30 most of us were walkers or run/walkers. The name USA Fit means that all levels of racers are supported but walkers are encouraged to do the early start. Once again I was with my Maniac Texas friends so time went very fast. When the sun came up I realized we were in a very nice neighborhood with Tropical Trees and flowers. The race director and workers were very attentive to our needs. The Swag Wagon even asked if we need drinks or food. I received a finishers shirt made out of very soft stay dry. Also, a nice finishers medal. I didn’t pick up my third place AG award as I was unaware I placed. Again a very nice day with friends on a flat course. I did save enough energy to run the last three miles at a moderate pace. I will probably be back. Cheers youall.

I picked up my packet just before the race. In the packet was my shirt, bib, and pins. The race is flat on concrete paths beside the Trinity River. It is more scenic than the paths in Tulsa. The course is a double loop so we crossed four bridges which provided some up and down. Everything was smooth and though I heard some complain about the course being on concrete you did have the option of running on the gravel path parallel. The best part was the weather. I was prepared for it to be hot but instead we had a covered sky all day. I was able to run comfortably and for long periods.

This race had a pickup at the local runners world. The course is along side of a river where you can do float trips. As I am not a trail runner this had some easy roads to run down. However, you must be ready to climb hill after hill. Then you have cattle guards and one place with a weird rock formation. However the usually roots and large rocks weren’t present. I am glad it was dry that day but it was hot… so I survived and now I am Ultra Man… no I have completed one 50k. I will leave the rest to others. Cheers

No expo due to Covid19, Start was planned as a trickle start however everyone was standing on top of one another. The first half was fast for me but of course it was hot on the second… my fault back of the pack runner. But I pushed myself and finished. If it had been cooler I would have done better. The race is well arranged for spectators not so much for runners. When running down the main street (Douglas) runners are in the middle of two lanes of traffic very well marked. But not so good if you are looking for shade from the sun. So I liked the new start venue however there weren’t as many neighborhood streets once again no shelter from the sun.

So about being the new kid… with only 30 some marathons I was the least experienced runner. These guys are mostly over 300 marathons. I would say this is more of a meeting of runners with running on the side. Very enjoyable and low stress.

Branson is a great place for a race and the RD made sure it wasn’t all hills. Unfortunately, the day was very humid and even with an early 5:00 start it was 70F. I quickly knocked out the half but then the sun came out. It was burning hot and humid. Then for the last lap #6 the storm came in and I was able to finish before lightning started. In all I am very tired now and have the tough back half of the year to finish now. But I successfully completed YTD #9.

This race is a Covid race and we know much has changed. But I really love this race. I was allowed an early start so my first two hours were great for running. With the altitude drop I was running right behind the leader. It was a dream, I am never that far out front. But this is a cool race, with lots of spectators. And I really appreciated the small town atmosphere. So put this race on your bucket list…. you will enjoy it.
