I picked up my packet just before the race. In the packet was my shirt, bib, and pins. The race is flat on concrete paths beside the Trinity River. It is more scenic than the paths in Tulsa. The course is a double loop so we crossed four bridges which provided some up and down. Everything was smooth and though I heard some complain about the course being on concrete you did have the option of running on the gravel path parallel. The best part was the weather. I was prepared for it to be hot but instead we had a covered sky all day. I was able to run comfortably and for long periods.

This race had a pickup at the local runners world. The course is along side of a river where you can do float trips. As I am not a trail runner this had some easy roads to run down. However, you must be ready to climb hill after hill. Then you have cattle guards and one place with a weird rock formation. However the usually roots and large rocks weren’t present. I am glad it was dry that day but it was hot… so I survived and now I am Ultra Man… no I have completed one 50k. I will leave the rest to others. Cheers

No expo due to Covid19, Start was planned as a trickle start however everyone was standing on top of one another. The first half was fast for me but of course it was hot on the second… my fault back of the pack runner. But I pushed myself and finished. If it had been cooler I would have done better. The race is well arranged for spectators not so much for runners. When running down the main street (Douglas) runners are in the middle of two lanes of traffic very well marked. But not so good if you are looking for shade from the sun. So I liked the new start venue however there weren’t as many neighborhood streets once again no shelter from the sun.

Day before pick up at race hotel.. The bib worked for all three days which is great. The RD, I know personally and she puts on a great race. So about being the new kid… with only 30 some marathons I was the least experienced runner. These guys are mostly over 300 marathons. The whole idea is to get together as a group and run, run/walk marathons. They are all out there just to finish…. spending lots of time talking on what is going on in their families. I would say this is more of a meeting of runners with running on the side. Very enjoyable and low stress.

Branson is a great place for a race and the RD made sure it wasn’t all hills. Unfortunately, the day was very humid and even with an early 5:00 start it was 70F. I quickly knocked out the half but then the sun came out. It was burning hot and humid. Then for the last lap #6 the storm came in and I was able to finish before lightning started. In all I am very tired now and have the tough back half of the year to finish now. But I successfully completed YTD #9.

This race is a Covid race and we know much has changed. But I really love this race. I was allowed an early start so my first two hours were great for running. With the altitude drop I was running right behind the leader. It was a dream, I am never that far out front. But this is a cool race, with lots of spectators. And I really appreciated the small town atmosphere. So put this race on your bucket list…. you will enjoy it.

We did this race because I couldn’t really find any others to do. Was I ever surprised. Races don’t have to be big to be fun. The race had 17 marathoners. But I knew a lot of them and met the ones I didn’t know. While exciting scenery can be fun sometimes it is just wonderful to run and circle and talk to so many people. I have really forgotten how much I love the banter out on the race course. It was an easy run except for the summer heat but I am here to tell you I would do it again.

Well organized small race. I did not go to the Expo b/c I picked up the packet the day of the race. Things I liked, Fireballs at 11.5 and free beer after the course. The race was in two states Texas and Arkansas. This allowed me an Arkansas half this year b/c I already had Texas. I thought the course was really flat. I would have gone faster if my legs hadn’t been so tired after a week of racing. Cheers and happy running.

Local race on bike paths produced by running store. This race doesn’t really have much scenery in the winter time with the trees without their leaves. The bridges broke up the lack of elevation change. We had warmer weather than past years but faced a constant drizzle and fog. So the race weather wasn’t spectacular and the scenery not fantastic. It was only four hours drive from my house which was nice and there aren’t too many races that time of year. This race is for you if you like small local races. By the way, the age group medals are fantastic.

1 year half 3 years full. Destiny is a great RD. This is fast becoming one of the best marathons in the USA. Maniacs, Fanatics, and 50 States have their own VIP tent. Official stops and drink stops on the course, let the Jello shots begin. So there are other races the Sunday before Thanksgiving but I have never done them. I am very happy to stay home and run my home town race. Oh by the way some say it is hilly. I just call it home. Cheers

I did not go to the expo but I did attend the post race area. The race allows sign ups on race day. This was nice for me because I decide to run the night before. The race is for a great cause and I needed at least 13 miles on my training schedule… so I did it. The race is run on bike paths except for the first two miles which is on an avenue. This allowed runners to spread out. Overall I think there were 185 runners; so actually after the start it wasn’t crowded. I got off to too fast a start… but other than that all was perfect. So there were signs indicating direction and distance as well as race monitors. There were your standard drink stops. I did bring my own electrolytes because I enjoy the mark I use. So in all it is a very flat course with one underpass. There are real toilets at the turn around point and a huge amount at the start. In all I was encouraged in my training by having so many people around. It was a good day in a laid back local way. Hope this helps, I have other reviews.

Let’s see there is a nice RD named Lisa. The expo was great for a race this size. I used the hotel across the street which was great. Shirt okay…. medal is great looking. There were lots of volunteers. Very few spectators… there were 154 runners I came in 152. Again I am recovering from an injury. However the course was hilly, the Air Force base was rather desertic. It seemed to me that the water stops were far apart. No matter how much I drank I was thirsty. We started at 6:30 and it was cool but I finished at 1:00 and it was hot. So I got all of the heat I wanted. The best thing about the race was the number of Maniacs and Staters that were there. I would say largely half of the runners were from out of state. I hope this helps… I am not in too positive mood about this one.

The beauty of this location grabs me. There are mountains, streams, and irrigation channels and did I say hills. The most friendly people I have been around at 6:00 am. The expo is at the county fairgrounds and mostly consists of picking up you shirt and bib. …. but did I say the people are friendly… met the race directors before the race and ate with a six time Boston runner. Had a great talk with others about which race to run in each state. So what I can tell you is this is a great race and I will try to come back. Really love the people there.

This is a beautiful tough race. Enjoyed the communications and expo. The race director seems very nice. I entered the race knowing it had a strict 5 1/2 hour limit. So race day as we rode the bus to the started I was disappointed to see so many hills. We started out in the cool temperature very fast. About mile 4 I ran a 8 minute mile and realized I was running at altitude. For those that say altitude doesn’t really matter… well it does to me. I couldn’t hardly catch my breath and the day continued that way. The best news I have for you is…. even though they say there is a 5:30 cutoff there isn’t. So all my worrying was for nothing… even those finishing after six hours received their times. So I successfully completed my Colorado race even though I thought I would be punished to come back again to this beautiful state. Scenery, lodging, food, and friends this is a great race… just so hard with altitude, hills, and lots of exposure to sun.

I did this race the week after Brookings so my legs were tired and I almost didn’t come. But the race really was talked highly of by my Maniac brothers and sisters. The atmosphere was electric with so many clubs present. We teased and joked our way through 26.2 miles of beautiful neighborhoods. We even crossed over into Minnesoto. The one problem I had other than my legs being tired was the wind from between the buildings downtown. But you can’t ask the RD to control the weather. So even with lots of rain and some wind I had a great time. I am glad I drove the 12 hours to get there.

Was surprised the race gave a 2-4-1 and club discounts. So I was running on my Maniacs discount and my wife got a free race. There was a post party at a bar in town excellent. First rate swag with a nice 1/4 zip jacket(lightweight) and my wife’s age group prize was wool cap. As for the race course plus and minus. Plus nice college town with good neighborhoods. Minus why so many sidewalks and did we really have to run down the gravel beside the railroad tracks. Plus great bike paths thru parks. So for my wife it was great for me I just didn’t like that many sidewalks and turns. Again I was slow but it was my third marathon in a short period of time.

This was my sixth marathon in Oklahoma and my first in OKC. The expo is one of the best I have been to with lots of booths. I received two shirts and a heavy medal. We started out cool with a waterfall corals. I had run a marathon the day before. So I ran the first 5 miles and then did intervals the rest of the race. I was with many of my maniac friends so it was a social race for me. The highlight I believe is Gorilla Hill. Lots of cheering fans and food/drinks including champagne. I think is maybe a race I repeat. As for after the race, it was well organized and the thing I loved; those that finished late had all of the food and beer that they could drink also the band was still playing. That could be five stars for me after a few disappointments at other races.

Fleet Feet puts on a great race. Runners expo is at the three local stores where one can buy just about any supply. The run is easy except for one hill. Many racers come from out town because of extended time limits. While I run these paths often I enjoy the competition with no traffic what so ever. Since it is relatively flat one can also get a PR on this course. Great race for a cheap price. Be careful it can be hot the end of April in Oklahoma.

The day was clear and cool. Some said it was cold. But it just seemed to be a great day to run as I watched the coral fill. As watched the corals go one by one the excitement built up in me. Soon my son and I were running through Fort Worth as we came around a corner we saw the monster they had been talking about… a bridge about one mile long continuously uphill. Instead of regret I decided that I would beat the hill… shortening my stride with a rapid cadence I attacked and was soon almost to the top. There we rounded a corner and what did I see but another small hill. I don’t know what got into me that day but I just wouldn’t be denied. I ran till I saw the Ultra runners coming back into to town. I decided that as a marathon runner they should be more tired than me… I pushed up the hill to the stockyards and dug real deep to run fast across the finish. So happy I was to receive ice cream, and beer. They also gave me a finishers shirt which was more like a warmer to start the race… but so elated with my time I don’t think anything could keep me from being thrilled with this race… I have to come back again.

The race production was great, as well as communications. The expo was basically a packer pickup. This is a point to point race so I was up early to take the bus. On the bus I was surprised by the number of Maniacs and Staters doing the race. The course is extremely flat except for the bridge. We somehow managed no rain… but it was very cold for Mississippi and the wind had nothing else to do except blow in our faces the second half of the race. So we were bundled up to no end as the second part of the course did not afford us much cover. The shirt, medal, and afterparty were great. I just wished I had done better with the wind… Well there is always another day. I would run this race again.

Best part of the race was the after party with Cajun Food. We enjoyed running and partying with our Louisiana friends. The reputation of this race does not disappoint. From registration, mailings, expo, and organization it was top rate. Even though raceday was cold… we stood for hours eating great food and drinking free beer. We also liked the great swag. Please note the course goes through LSU campus and many great neighborhoods. There was one particular out and back where every block was another party. Loved all the music. We intend to go back again.

Nothing really special except a very flat course. The ground was very wet when you get off the sidewall. Sometimes hard to pass with two way traffic. MORE

The communication on the race was almost excessive with emails once or twice a week. The expo was very large and had lots of goodies. What I remember of the weather was the humidity and at the end great gusts of wind as we finished. It is always great to run a race for a cause and we were very touched by the children that great us on the course. The Marathon starts downtown and runs by the river then up to the hospital and back into neighborhoods. I was told in advance that this was a flat course. However there never seemed to be a full mile that was flat. I was thankful for the cover of the trees in parks and neighborhoods because the downtown was so hot and windy. Interesting enough it was really warm for a December day. I will remember those kids forever.

Expo was first rate. Parking was plentiful. The weather was nice. The course was ….. wait for it…. hilly. I have never seen so many hills. And we train in Tulsa which has lots of hills. All I really remember strongly about this race is hill after hill. And of course everyone was saying “this is the last hill”. Well we got it done and found some Maniac friends at the after party. The food, beer, and music was plentiful also. So maybe I should just remember the Expo and After Party!!!!!

I had run the half my first year and enjoyed it. I had even gotten a PR on the flat half course. The Marathon expo is huge and the race flat and well organized. Why then was it such a killer? We had just started when it started the rain. The temperature dropped from 40 to 33 for the finish. There were only 26 miles of pouring freezing rain. I feel sorry for the RD, he can’t control the weather. No one dared to stay for the after party this year. When getting my medal they asked me if I wanted to step into the medical tent to warm up. I was shaking and my teeth were clattering. So happy the hotel was just steps away. Since I had done it once and enjoyed I may go back. I would tell you it was my second worst experience in running.

This race was recommended to me by a runner. So happy he ran it with me so I could give him a hard time. This race went thru three states on a point to point course. Starting in Oklahoma we ran to Kansas and then finished in Joplin Missouri. I used this race for the state of Missouri. Basically you run on a highway… I find that boring also we were exposed to heat and humidity without shade for hours. The expo was a packet pickup… there were stocked water stops and massages after the race. They ran out of food before I finished. The medal was excellent as well as the cotton shirt. I would not do this race again which probably doesn’t matter as they cancelled this years 2019 do to management problems. Bye, bye it is over now.

This is my first and only race in France. Communications were great in French, English and German. The Expo was okay nothing too exceptional. Attention you must have a medical certificate to compete. The race is basically a circle but you are shuttled to your car at the end. Okay the course is run on small streets, two tracks, single tracks, dirt and gravel and even 100 yards of cobble stones. Beware there is a certain technical difficulty in this race. However most forget about the difficulties with not only water stops but wine and gourmet food. It’s all about costumes, food, wine, and having fun. Oh my gosh it is easy to forget about running… you can talk and drink oops!!!! and run for miles. To say the least it is an entertaining and social time. The swag… medal small, shirt not so pretty but least I forget the bottle of wine. Only the adventurous need to run here. Just go do it and you’ll have stories to tell. Cheers

Okay since running this race they stopped doing it. Was bill as a scenic route however it was a run down and old two lane highway. Some of the race was a straightaway of 9 miles. I could see from one aid station to the next. Sorry it disappointed me as I thought I would see some great scenery.

Expo was a packet pickup. The race is a small time race. We gathered together shivering in the cold for the start. No corals everyone picked their place to start both Half and Full. We saw nice neighborhoods and city streets and for a change up lots of hills. So very cold (wind chill 26) and hills… did I say it was a hard race for me. Well we got it done and there was food left to eat… and surprise I was second in my age group. I shouldn’t complain so much. This year I understand it was just as cold. Good luck on this one.

Expo was a packet pickup. The race is complex with several parts going on at the same time. We weren’t always sure where to turn. The timing was done on gun time even though we had my laps chips. I will not do this again even though it is two miles from my house… It could be a good race. Placed first in my age group.
