So this is a small race so don’t expect the big crazy expo and screaming fans at every turn. The course was around the Arkansas River and mostly on paved bike/run trails that are open to the public.
This race is very basic with a rather, uh, ugly shirt. Packet pickup was the morning of the race and there was plenty of parking.
The course had some hills but nothing drastic. But it was somewhat humid when I ran and that hurt me in the end.
I had a snag on the course where it was not well marked and went off course for almost 3/4 of a mile. That didn’t make me to happy. Some other runners joined me so I had company.
I was looking forward to a beer at the end and they had a beer tent. They asked for iD. I’m a middle aged man with grey hair and I don’t typically run 26 miles with my drivers license. Had to have my wife text a photo of it. The beer was warm. Yup. Figures.
I would not go out of my way to do this race again but I wanted to visit Tulsa for the Bob Dylan museum and that was the highlight of my weekend.

I registered for this race after the Garmin Olathe Marathon scheduled for the same day was canceled.
There was several COVID measures that were in place but compared to other races i have run during COVID, it appeared the most normal. Mask were “required” at the start and finish, race capacity, bottled water on aid stations, and wave started (including different start time for 10k/5k).
The Marathon was basically one 14 mile loop and a 6 mile out and back. The trail was along the river, which seemed to be well maintained and covered with a plethora of parks (including one that was voted best in the USA). So there was several locations were supporters could see you. There were plenty of bathrooms along the course to include enough at the start/finish. Aid stations had bottled water (8 ounces), sports drink, and gels at 1 or 2. The course wasn’t marked with any mile markers, but the turnaround points and course was marked clearly.
Swag included a TECH type t shirt and a nice big medal with the Golden Driller logo.
The finish line included BEER, Burritos, and fresh fruit.

This marathon is a small race. Due to Covid in 2021 they had a record number of marathoners. The race does not have mile markers. The race seems to cater to the shorter distance rather than the full. The trail was also under construction during the 2021 race. The overall race was nice but we were unable to park at the finish and there was no gear check. So we just sat there freezing afterwards with no foil blankets or dry clothes.

Good race. The friendliest and most supportive fellow racers I’ve every seen. No community support (signs or cheering). The course was also shared by Tulsans just out enjoying their greenways while we were running. The shuttle system was very disorganized – we had to ask a total stranger to take us across the river back to our car where “designated” parking was after the race. Also there was nothing flashy. No great start or finish enthusiasm. No food to speak of, but I understand because of covid. As a turtle – I found the course nice and flat. Overall – a good race but wouldn’t do it again

Fleet Feet puts on a great race. Runners expo is at the three local stores where one can buy just about any supply. The run is easy except for one hill. Many racers come from out town because of extended time limits. While I run these paths often I enjoy the competition with no traffic what so ever. Since it is relatively flat one can also get a PR on this course. Great race for a cheap price. Be careful it can be hot the end of April in Oklahoma.
