Weather was a factor as it was 10 degrees hotter than previous day, and for me 60 degrees hotter than previous weekend. I ran the first 25 miles or so then walked it in after that due to my schedule, and it being 83 or so degrees. Lots of on race support and great participants.

Looking for unique races, this is definitely that. The buses to the start line were great and very timely. The temperatures outside made me want to get back in the caves as much as possible, nice warm 65-70 inside. %k was basically one loop, and 10K two loops. Great photos to be had all around with mascots and caves. The medals are nice, but kind of disappointed the only thing the combo runners get is a blue connector of medal, nothing special at all IMHO. Might run it again, but most likely a one and done for me.

Running this as the 2:50 pacer for the half. There were ~35 people running the half marathon on a cold wet January day. Nice paved trails to run two out and backs on, reasonable water stops. Pleasant fellow runners to talk with during the race. I think it was a fun time but the 35 degree and sprinkles/snow falling just made it feel very cold.

I ran this race years ago and the course went east of the city and was much more hilly. THe course winds on the waterfront more and stays nearer the city. I met a lot of fun people along the way and convinced some to be drinking buddies along the way, didn’t go for a fast time, just a good time. Had a good time as alcohol and snacks along the way are top notch, some official and other non-official. Nice race, do the center of the universe add-on, it is worth it for the extra bling.

Weather was a serious factor, 76 and 90+% humidity as the day progressed. They moved the 12:30 gaunlet up to 12:00 mid-race, and because of that I only got 28.9 miles in, still counts as at least a marathon in my books. Officially I didn’t finish the 50K, but I know what I did. About half of the pacing team fell off pace as the conditions deteriorated and medical got overwhelmed. Still a great race and I will be back for the 50th in 2 years.

Race was mostly downhill, maybe 80%, first 2-3 miles definitely, rolling small hills after that, along with running on a bike path very nice scenery. Race starts at 10:30am and was a little warm for that time of year. Once the course approaches town off the roads and onto the bike paths. Great crowd support and a good amount of eater stops/hydration/snacks, no vest needed today. Nice swag, beet and popsicles for purchase were great.

Drove 2 hours from Conway, AR through hellish rainstorms, arrived an hour before the planned 7am start. Weather cleared at least down to a light sprinkle. 7am comes and goes, then a late start of 7:15 is rumored due to weather and logistics, then 7:30, then at 7:35 they say there will be a potential 8:15 start but the race my end early due to tornado watches, etc… Long story short I downgrade to the half as I feel that I can fit that in the alotted time and didn’t want to be pulled before i finished a marathon. Race was otherwise uneventful after we started. Good amount of water, gatorade, snacks on course, every ~2.5-3 miles. Course is extremely hilly and that may change next year. Will be back next year as they are changing the time of year and the course up a little. Appreciated the alcohol/jello shots at mile 11!

A nice local race of about 400 or so people, nice long steady downhill though countryside the na flat section in the middle, then reverse backup the long steady hill and then a rolling hill back to the finish line. Course is at the top of the hills in Branson, Mo, I think only about 5% of the course was flat, the rest is steep up and steep down. Few spots where footing is questionable, but go through caves, by waterfalls, and atop a very picturesque view. Great snack and alcohol tastings after the race. Very nice medal.

Very well organized trailish race on rolling gravel roads, A little hillier than i expected, glad i was done by the time it was heating up. By starting at 6am you can get a few miles in in the cooler morning hours. I rand one of the loops used for the real endurance races, with an extra mile on it. Very nice swag and lots of snacks, like fireball!. May see me again next year.

Lemon Drop Hill is over-rated, local support of the race is top notch, during the race I had a full can of corona light, a truly seltzer, a grapefruit mimosa, a hot dog with onions and mustard on it, a very chewy peanut ball, and other stuff I forgot! The after race festivities were located about 0.75 miles away which was a pain but very nice. Like I said before I will be back in 2026 for the 50th!

Race consists of three loops alongside Table Rock Lake. Very nice views of the water in several places, one section along the boat ram is a sideways incline of about 8-9% grade that is tough on the ankles. I’m still recovering from achilles tear surgery but managed to run most of it at a decent job. Small rolling inclines but a very nice curvy well-maintained trail. Will repeat again, maybe 2025 as that will be their 10th annual. All the aid stations are manned by vets which I greatly appreciated.
Side note on the weather, 2/3rds the way through it started torrential downpouring, then after a few minutes I experienced pea-sized hail, then marble sized…. just kept running and it stung ears a little but subsided after ~5 min with just a light drizzle for a few more minutes. My first time running in hail. 🙂

Last year i managed a 2:07, this year post-achilles tear surgery i was lucky to get a 3:25 (earlier this year i have been back to 2:45ish times). So it was my third time running this race in the past 4 years, but my first time pacing the 2:30 half. Kind of a thin crowd, had a few runners that were running just behind me on the course. Very nice area outside of Shreveport, LA. Kind of disappointed to find out we couldn’t run through the prison, but i understand safety first. Morning started at about 58 degrees, I ran the 50K (two loops), very good turnout. First lap everyone was fairly together for the first 2-3 miles, then the thinning of the herd started. The elevation changes on this trail, the roots, and switchbacks all made this a pretty serious trail run. I managed to do the first loop in a little over 3hrs, but after the barbeque lunch (which was very good) and a diet coke, I realized my pacing was off. The second loop was a slog for me, even though the weather was almost perfect (just a little warm, 74-75) during the early afternoon. Ended up doing a quick walk for the second loop for fear of twisting an ankle, heard about others that broke toes. Finished slightly before dark. I would imagine that the trail becomes very hairy if it were to rain either before the race or during.

So even though this was postponed from mid Jan to start of March it started off quite chilly (43 and very breezy). Standard covid precautions done, very orderly start, great flat course, good snacks along the way, with plenty of public support for alcohol (Mimosas, bloody marys, beer, etc), a great time. THe post race jambalaya was a great touch.
