For the first production of this race, it was a really strong showing. I am confident it will only get better in future years.
Pros:
– Savannah! A great city – super fun to run in, and one of the few races I could find that actually went through the pretty parts like Forsyth Park. A fun place for a long weekend!
– Tons of port o’ potties at the start.
– Great race t-shirt and medal.
– Overall a fairly well-run operation for it being the first one!
Meh:
– Post race party wasn’t super memorable for me. Typical snacks and vendor options.
– The course. Some parts of the course were gorgeous and others were mediocre. I thought I would love running through the Savannah Bananas stadium, but man going from pavement to turf at ~mile 13 was absolutely brutal. Several parts of the course were also in full sun and it was very warm. Lastly, the course was also very twisty/turny, which made it hard to run efficiently.
Cons:
– I don’t really remember the expo? Not many freebies, which is the highlight for me.
– Not many spectators along the route.

The expo was held at the Savannah Convention Center, which provided a spacious venue for vendors and participants. The shirt we received was made of soft material, and I will definitely be wearing it out and about. The course was flat and took you through scenic routes of Savannah. The last mile we ran through the iconic Savannah Bananas stadium. The organizer, crowds, vibes, volunteers, and police made this inaugural event one to remember! I will definitely be back next year.
Great Inaugural Race

2. Swag: Not much given (medal, shirt, canvas bag), but all very good quality.
3. Staggered wave starts: Very good for this race to help with congestion, especially with all the turns on the course.
4. Course: LOTS of turns, but they didn’t slow you down. Also, got to run through the Savannah Banana Stadium toward the end, very cool.
5. Pre/Post Atmosphere: Very good. They kept you pumped up with lots of loud music. But post race party did not have much freebies.
OVERALL: Would run again!
