The first 8 miles are uphill, and the first 3 miles are on gravel. Elevation at the start line was around 4,000 ft, and we climbed up another 2,000 ft. The last 5 miles were steep going downhill. I can see Mount Rushmore from a distance but still great views from Black Hills Forest. About 2,800 runners participated. Packet pick-up was easy. The aid station was fully stocked up on water, gnarly, and food. It was a cupless event so you need to have your own hydro pouch. Overall, great experience and definitely memorable because of the tough course but rewarding with great scenic views.

This is one of the best swags I have ever received from a race. I didn’t expect a blanket post-race. It was a nice surprise at the finish line. This was my first Heroes Run HM. I am pleased that this was my Louisiana HM race I’ve participated because the people are amazing, very generous and supportive. The course scenery was somewhat nice. A few hills but mainly flat. The temperature was 54 degrees throughout the morning and drizzling. The support was motivating throughout the race. Hydration station at every mile. Very well organized race. I highly recommend this race.

RnR in Philly was super organized. They provided a ton of water/gatorade at each station. There were at least 6 water stations. Loved that the course was mainly flat and a ton of downhill along the river. This year’s race was HUMID! Started out at 90% humidity. Cool bling but wish it was a bit bigger. 🙂
