This race is run on an eight mile loop on a bike path in a local metropark. It runs through wooded areas with undulating terrain. The weather was somewhat ugly this year, so the turnout was only fair, but all runners received t-shirts and coffee mugs. I’ll do it again next year.

A COVID compliant live race. Start line was open from 9am to 11 am. Chip times were recorded after all had finished. Course was basically on mowed farm fields with some very hilly sections. Footing was tough, but we all shared the same conditions. They did a great job organizing this race and making it enjoyable and safe. Participants ran in support of either the University of Michigan or Michigan State University, a fun rivalry.

This was my 35th Crim, so I think that says a lot about the quality of the race. Whether you’re challenging the Kenyans with a sub 5 minute pace or plodding along in the back, you’re all treated like stars. A hilly, challenging course. Top notch race management. If you have never run the Crim, you owe it to yourself to run it once. You might find you running another 34!

Organizers added an 8K this year in hopes of drawing more runners, unfortunately the race was still not well attended. The course was hilly and scenic through Kensington Metropark. This was the inaugural event sponsored bu Founder’s Brewery. It was well organized and enjoyable. It all took place on Detroit’s Belle Isle, a city park recently elevated to a state park. This is a flat, fast course run entirely on bike paths around Tempe Town Lake. It as well attended (1600 runners), but not too crowded that you couldn’t run your race. Lots of race swag and frozen yogurt at the finish.

This is actually 2 races – a Final 5K run at 10:30pm and a First 5K run at 12:10am with a sparkling apple juice toast at midnight. It is solely on bike paths in a local park – flat and not too interesting. Nice long sleeve shirts and finisher medals for each race that interlock.

This is a well organized race as part of a series of night runs. The course is out and back entirely on a bike trail along the Salt River. Although it is at night, the path is well lit and suitable for fast times. Medals to all and a raffle of cool stuff after the race. Well worth the price.

This was a small town race for a good cause. The course was on neighborhood roads, bike paths, and briefly on dirt and grass in a local park. The course was fast and flat. The distance was accurate , and it was chip timed. Times were organized according to age groups, but no age group prizes were awarded. For a small, local race, it was well worth going. I’ll do it again next year!

The Crim is my favorite run every year. This year things got a little dicey. Due to thunderstorms, the race start was delayed 1 1/2 hours. This is after the wheelers and veteran runners were already on the course, and the elite runners were called back in the 1st mile. Other than these unusual circumstances, the race is usually well organized. A hilly, challenging course through Flint, Michigan with huge local support. Definitely a race worth traveling for.

This well organized Riverbed Striders race is a yearly event. The course is through local neighborhoods. No big hills, but lots of long gradual inclines. Trophies were given to age group winners – haven’t seen that in a while. Also pizza and other snacks for the runners after the race. Well worth the entry fee.

This local race on Thursday evenings is a tradition. Well organized by the Riverbed Striders, it’s a great way to get in some speedwork when summer weekends are often busy enough. This year they had a little trouble getting timely results, which is unusual for a Striders’ event, but otherwise was well managed and enjoyable. Plenty of pizza was available for runners and walkers after the event.

Fun run sponsored by Bell’s Brewery and Oberon beer. With 2500 runners on a tight course, the start was a little congested, but pace signs were up and most people seemed to heed them, so it could have been worse. The course was on gravel and blacktop through Wiard’s Orchard. Bling included T-shirts, pint glasses, finishers medals, beer and coozies. Age group awards were 5 deep. The weather held off and a good time was had by all.

Riverbend Striders race, so you know it is well organized and accurate. Flat course through Swartz Creek neighborhoods. Plaques to age group winners. Like the option of no T shirt. This year it was HOT and humid. Not a great setting for a PR, but race directors don’t have control over the weather.

This is a beautiful little run that begins and ends at the tallest light house on the Great Lakes. The course is a pancake flat out-and-back. It is not chip timed and there are no awards, just a fundraiser for the local fireworks. You were given an accurate time, and received a tech T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. I really enjoyed this race.

Good value. You start by getting a free pasta dinner the night before when you pick up your race packet. The race itself was entirely on the beach. The sand was sometimes a little challenging, but we all faced the same conditions. There was one water station at the turn around point. The course itself was a little short. There were nice awards for winners, but the age groups were quite broad, but considering the size of the race, quite appropriate. All in all, I would recommend this race for a fun, low stress, run on the “World’s Most Famous Beach”.
