This is another awesome race put on by Start Line Racing. This was the 30th Midnight Madness. 5K along the park’s pathway at 10:30 pm on New Year’s Eve. Sparkling cider toast at Midnight, and then the same 5K at 12:10 AM on New Years. Great way to celebrate. Had two water stops; path was somewhat lit but recommend bringing own light; except for tunnel under street it’s FLAT; very walker/dog friendly. Lots of snacks. Park bathrooms. Very festive. Nice long-sleeve jacket without all the sponsor advertising on it. One swag for each race that interlocks-colorful and big. Great “selfie” booth set up for New Years pictures. If you are coming from out of town, Best Western hotel on Black Canyon Highway is easy walking distance to race. Don’t miss this one if you are near Phoenix on New Years!!! Start Line Racing is an A+ Race Company.

This race is one of two 5K races. You run one before the old year retires and one to begin the New Year with a start. Hence, Midnight Madness. It’s a novel way to commemorate the beginning and the end of time. It is worth checking this race off your list. You must know that at that hour, it is dark and cold. It’s a fairly small race for runners who aren’t faint of heart. The energy is upbeat and runners are ready to turn over a new leaf. Ready to commit to run stronger, harder, and smarter. “Bubbly” is served at midnight and the bling is super cool.

This is actually 2 races – a Final 5K run at 10:30pm and a First 5K run at 12:10am with a sparkling apple juice toast at midnight. It is solely on bike paths in a local park – flat and not too interesting. Nice long sleeve shirts and finisher medals for each race that interlock.
