In August of 1977, Michigan House Speaker Bobby Crim and his assistant Lois Craig launched the first Bobby Crim 10 Mile Road Race. Little did they know that they were embarking on a journey that would change the City of Flint forever! In the 45 years since those first days as a race organization, the Crim Fitness Foundation has evolved into a highly regarded 501(c) 3 non-profit organization impacting the lives of thousands.
With great success comes great responsibility. The Crim Fitness Foundation is committed to serving a leadership role in advancing the national agenda for improving health in our nation’s communities. What does this mean? It means that the Crim believes we can be a catalyst for authentic change:
- Our response to the epidemic of childhood obesity is to provide physical activity and nutrition education to over 10,000 youth in the City of Flint, Genesee County, and beyond, each and every day.
- We see the social and economic impact of adults not finding time to be physically active, so we look for ways to offer CrimFit Adult Training Programs to meet everyone’s needs.
- When we see that families have nowhere to go to walk, ride their bikes, and enjoy the outdoors together, we increase our efforts toward ensuring that our communities are committed to improving our parks, that there are safe routes to school, that our streets are more bicycle-friendly, that civic and community leaders are collaborating to improve trails, signage, and more.
All these things add up to a quality of life and environment that not only will benefit our families and encourage our youth to stay here and help build our 21st century economy, but will also attract energetic and creative people from everywhere to come here and make our home their home too.
So when you are considering what’s important enough to support with your time and your dollars, we hope you will choose us.
Be part of our better future–help us fight childhood obesity, improve our community’s health, and increase access to physical activity—right here at home. Help us encourage an attitude of positive change and hope for the future. Together we can change health, change lives, change communities!

Great to back on the course after COVID year off. Unfortunately, 75 degrees with 92% humidity. Survival mode for most of us. Plenty of water and support on the course. Well managed, as always. Still my favorite race.

This was my 35th Crim, so I think that says a lot about the quality of the race. Whether you’re challenging the Kenyans with a sub 5 minute pace or plodding along in the back, you’re all treated like stars. A hilly, challenging course. Top notch race management. If you have never run the Crim, you owe it to yourself to run it once. You might find you running another 34!

I was surprised at how big this race was – the 10-miler definitely draws the biggest crowd! The organization at the beginning of the race was good – they had to be given the delay because of the thunderstorms in the area. Since it was my first time (and first time in Flint), it was nice to see a beautiful city – there was a great amount of crowd support on the run as well. Plenty of aid stations (and ‘other’ stations) to never worry about when the next water station would be. My only real complaint would be about the organization of the finishing chute. There were plenty of volunteers at the chute handing out medals, drinks, bananas, etc. and plenty to be had, but there was a VERY narrow opening for such a big crowd. I think they had plenty of room to work with down Saginaw to spread it out a bit and allow the crowds to keep moving. Absolutely no complaints about this race and I’m sure I’ll do it again. I’ll be ready for the hills in Glendale Hills next year!

The Crim is my favorite run every year. This year things got a little dicey. Due to thunderstorms, the race start was delayed 1 1/2 hours. This is after the wheelers and veteran runners were already on the course, and the elite runners were called back in the 1st mile. Other than these unusual circumstances, the race is usually well organized. A hilly, challenging course through Flint, Michigan with huge local support. Definitely a race worth traveling for.

The Crim always goes above and beyond to bring a spectacular festival of races. The Expo is well organized and easy to maneuver through. The Special Olympians and Michigan Mile are so fun to watch the night before. Then, for the 10 mile, the course is tough at times (Bradley Hills), but there is SO MUCH support and entertainment along the course that keeps a smile on your face. The Crim always has great swag and a fabulous after party.

This 10-mile race was my first and led to my love for running. It was fun, with lots of water stops, people playing music, holding up encouraging posters along the way & more. If you are in the Flint, Michigan area in August, this is one run you should take part in!

Crim 2005 was my first road race ever to run in. I’ve had the running bug ever since then. I’ve come back numerous times to run in it. Anywhere between 6 -10,000 people show up each year to run in the variety of events. Technically, the race is named after Bobby Crim, a local advocate for running and former state senator, but everyone knows it to be the Coolest Race In Michigan. The race starts and finishes on the bricks of Saginaw Street in downtown Flint showcasing a nice cross-section of the city. Be prepared for the Bradley Hills at the half-way point!
