Great Race for sure, my race was bad news, the day was just not mine. However, Great weather, good folks, well done race and very well market trail, if you took a wrong turn , you were not paying attention. Paying attention is a requirement. Blue sky, plenty of parking, all the volunteers are great but they are always great. Saw a few deer, no bears :(, My run, 13 miles up hill and a 5-7 mile down. A few small creeks. Mad Moose is a good organizer, try some of their other races. Photos available.

Good race, high humidity, 30,000 runners two days, 4000 5k, 18000 hald marathoners, 8000 marathoners. Well done, easy to get to, good folks, several hills, run the top of San Diego and then down hill to the ocean. Finish in the city, walk to the party. Crazy bunch of people. You will like this race.

Well, this one, this time, was a disappointment. I do not believe the race director and who did the course planning and flagging do much running or know the folks. On the good side, the course is good, especially for a night race, mostly roomy, staging at the parking was good. As usual, the food tent, bibs pick-up all went well. Lots of parking. At this point I have a call into the head quarters in Phoenix and an email to talk about the issues. I spoke with the race director and I am not happy. The communication was poor and the loud speaker was working but the operator was clearly did not have a good ability with respect to running/runners. The only ones that could clearly hear was right up front. That was a problem. There are not distance markers, only colors, one lap, blue, one, pink, one yellow, etc. Let me say, at least 20 runners got lost Pitch black night and your lost??? I spoke to several. One lady from Mexico, got turned the wrong way, just because folks say nothing, that does not mean all is good. One group said they had 18 miles in at the 16 mile point, ( how did that happen?). The whole blue, pink, yellow flag idea is a very poor idea. No mile markers??? The Director said he would handle the timing issue, I guess we will see. For new runners take note and pick your race carefully.

This can only be a 5 star, the the 5 stars are all about giving the City of London to the runners. I have done +- 140 marathons, all sorts of courses, never have I ever seen a crowd participation like this. Sometimes 6 people deep. Thanks to the spirit of running I came….just amazing. The start is a function of perfect organization, very much like Chicago. The road is 1/2 the width of normal courses and 2 to 3 times runners. This one 60,000 marathoners. Great course, all sorts of stuff to see…again the crowds are over powering and lots and lots of bands, singers….This one is a must do, no matter what. The medal is very well done.. You must see St. Pauls, and so many sites to chose from. Happy trails.

Nice location to run, lots of parking, better to come early to get in closer. Lots of boats and boat parking so beat the boats. Great weather today, overcast. 72 degree to start and 84 degree to finish. Good course, lots of rocks though. Good race for slow folks. All ages and 5 races, something for everyone. Aid stations are well done, everyone is great, good mood. Good Food and they have diet coke….big plus. This between Phoenix and Flagstaff. Drive is an easy one.

An Amazing start, right in the shadow of the Colosseum, reach out and touch history. 36,000 Marathoners, 24,000 other runners, the pack did not break for 12 miles. This will make you cry in a good way. Mostly flat course. I rank this race #1 in 48 years of running. Finish at Circus Maximus, Worlds olds race tract ( chariot ). Let there be no question as to run it or not run it. You must take part……

Tough race, lots of sand, rock scrambles, hills and canyons, up and down and watch your map. Around 1000 runs all races, 55K is the most popular. Hit a bunch of the slot canyons. Did I say sand, yes indeed, lots of sand. DNF’s were high, be prepared. Well done aid stations and food was all good. Volunteers were great. The runners are amazing. Lots of folks had T-band issues, be ready of this one. See the photos, all are race day pics.

Close to Tucson, Close to Phoenix. Longer races are more of the same. Good Aid stations. One gal was way to serious, fun race but lets have fun.

Lots of people, lots of runners, lots of parking. From a stand point of running, great race, from a stand point of communication and web site functioning, it needs a lot of improvement, and not improved from last year. Timing and timing results are next to impossible to get, what you get is so basic it is pointless to have. I have never been able to get accurate results, how many ran, on anything, times on mid points. So clearly a money operation and not for runners. Some volunteers rude. They want you to participate in heavy medals but rude lady their for two years. Course is mostly flat, two hills.

Super amazing runner turn out, lots of folks to this race. A well done production. Well organized, good food, nice folks, well mannered runners. Trail is average, rolling hills, a couple of big hills, more than likely, 6 miles of up hills, 2 down and 2 flat. All types of runners. Lets talk about how to get there, this is located West by Northwest Phoenix, it is about 500 yards directly south of the Phoenix raceway, ( 7602 S Avondale Blvd ) Do not use Race directions, or pin, or link, the 2025 race guide in not accurate. After you pass the raceway go on Indian Springs to Avenida Estrella and turn on that road, it only goes one direction. Lots of parking, lots of camping. Happy trails.

When its great you say it is great, when its not you suggest. I have done this race 20 +- times over the years , both races. So, packet pick up was a little irritating, had to go back three times, no clear direction from the volunteers. Parking and buses was confusing, they really need big good signage. Buseswere good and already warmed up. Start temps were 50+ degrees. The Fire station is a great start place for the 1/2 marathon. Aid stations are standard and fully staffed. Start and finish are well staffed, busing back to the parking is 100% on the money. The course is fast, no traffic issues, the only issue on the course is the bicycles. They should not be there. Results come in fast.

Fourth year in a row, great weather, 41 degree start-66 degree finish. As always a great group of runners and the volunteers on the course were great. Very well put together, trail marking was perfect, no lost souls, the tinsel markings worked well. Turn out was a record. Staged starts working well too. The medal the best, each year it changes and improves. Always on the list to do.

This was my 7th time in running. 3rd course change, this one was just slightly changed. 2 times as many runners. Largest charity only run in the world. All sorts of runners. Please get rid of the pass words MCM. This is not a top secret run. Good start, cool start, perfect running day. Not near enough bathrooms. Staging area is very good, transportation is great, Runner village and area is giant. A very well done race and expo was perfect. By the way, you need more bathrooms. If you do 2026, you will love it.

Good course, hills, lots of rocks, trail. Some deer came out to watch and we even saw a rattlesnake. Its very rare to see a snake at night with the rain coming. Very dark, no moon of course.

So, who goes first? So many wonderful buildings and a great history. I love churches and they have some good ones. Course is flat and does an excellent tour of the historical city. There is a mass of folks and the race is well done considering the numbers, lots of people. Very crowded but no options to improve. I think the race should start at 6:00 and then have the masses begin at 8 AM. This race was hot hot hot. Did I say hot? 84!!! the bad, well the heat. The Ugly, this is the largest race in the World, why is there trash, garbage, graffiti all over the place, dirty sidewalks and lots of cigarette buttes on the ground. Very dirty city. Now they made who knows how much money, $900,000,000 dollars and the streets are dirty??? The aid stations did not have salt or pickle juice. ( What? )

If your from 6000 +- ft. elevation, you have a major advantage, major. Every year everyone ahead of me is from higher altitude. 10,000 and the speed crashes. This year 1236 runners. 2 miles in and people were turning back. Great weather, very tough course. I ran this just off the Sydney marathon, now that was a crazy act of a lack of intelligence. But I still like this run, paint me nuts. If you have not done it. go do it. Next year is just around the corner. Maybe living in Cuzco Peru would help.

I think at this point I need to address a few issues. The organization, all four races are a great group of folks. This race is a disappointment because of a lack of concern of the race director, the town of Manitou, Colorado Springs, and the Cog train folks. The lack of focus and concern for the runners and the support group is sad indeed. Clearly the town wants nothing to do with the race. Parking fees at every turn and a pure focus on making money. The race itself is focused on young fast runners, all others– to bad. 30 + runners did not finish because of the cut off. Most came in just minutes after cutoff. The minute it hit 4 hours, all timing mats were turned off, finish line broke down, tents gone and all moved in minutes to the park, a mile away. To make room for parking and tourist, tourist that are there everyday and move on to the next phase. There were volunteers on the trail wondering what to do with no direction. Runners still out. Zero communication. At some point someone is going to get hurt or die and that disclaimer everyone signs will do no good. How do you leave runners out??? Crazy. Look at the participants, most 98% are Colorado and high altitude areas. Running groups stay alive based on the slow and older folks who want to have fun. There is zero focus on fun with this race. Get in, get out, and disappear. If you run it, know you are on your own. This race is 6 miles up, rocks and a rough course, come back down. The after race event when the slow folks got there, was out of food, almost out. Nothing to drink except Champagne, some beer and Gater-aid. What if you don’t drink beer? Who wants Gater-aid after a race? That was a shot-gun put together with donated stuff. There was a lot of water melon. The other races do not have these problems. One could start the race 1/2 an hour earlier or and hour. There could be a little courtesy too. This same thing happened last year. No ears listing in this race. AND, a two mile walk to the cars. I have ran almost 400 races of all distances 5,10,13,17,20,26, 31,35 miles and not one finish line does this craziness, not one. If I was a first time runner, I would never come back. Check out the parking ticker for race day in photos. Unbelievable.

Another marvelous race at 10,100 ft. Never droping below 10,100 feet elevation. You climb to 13,100 ft.. Snow at the top. This was my 8th time on the mountain. My results are all over the place. However, The runners are amazing high quality, women, men, young people runners. One young guy 14+-, did a crazy good job. They are amazing runners, I think there are more women than men, don’t know for sure. Aid stations are great, start and finish are great, the after race event is perfect, food, drink, beer, happy folks all around. The swag is always amazing, shirt, medal, mug, no corners cut. Lots of races give little of cheap stuff. Not this one. Poles are good if you are slow or older, me 73. Marathon starts at 6:30 and the Heavy half starts at 9:00, this race was hot and clear, it has also been snowing at the top. Be prepare folks.

All you aid stations are well done and stocked. Swag is great, two medals, they look the same , the 50K and 50 Miles is a belt bucket and very well done. Best metal ever!!! Lots to say about this event. The good and the bad. This is a beautiful race, I have done parts of this course 6 times. 1/2’s-Trailfest-50K etc. You can’t go wrong with this good course. Aid stations are great, good work was done on these. We started cold, 45 degrees, it got hot, I pulled off at 80 degrees. I wanted to do the 60K, ran into problems so dropped to the 30K, You will like this race. Remember, turn off to the site is Main and HWY 59. Don’t blink or you will fly by. Couple things about VR, they give google directions but not addresses, ( take a map), also this race, several runners got off course on loop two, flags missing and dots turned to blue then split into two course, neither dots were correct. One lady, a very good runners took off on one blue course, it was the wrong way, who knows what happened to her. I was off by about 1.5 miles and had to back track. Their trail markings need really a lot of improvement!! I appears that since the change of management or sale of the company, they seam to be focus a great deal on making money. So don’t over expect. Lots of changes going on.

It will put you to the challenge. All good. Be aware there is little room for a miss-step. Clearly in this race, this race only, they are clearly more interested in the top 30, than the rest of the folks. So, run this race for fun but make sure your under the 4 hour mark. Such a great race series and this one race out of the series seams to fumble the ball. I believe the problem here is not with the organizers but with the city of Manitou Springs. They profiteer to the max , parking fees etc. This year they let cars into the parking as runners were still finishing. Totally uncalled for.

Good folks, well ran, great running organization. Good Expo, great food at the end, can’t beat that part. Views are just the best. Today was very good temps, had to put on gloves, it did warm up. The thin air is the pits going up hill but no big deal going down . They also have mountain bike races and Ultras. Headquarters is in Leadville and right on main street. You can’t go wrong with this one.

One of the best organized marathons in America. ( America First) marathon. From beginning to end it was well done. Great support, super people. Course is a little down hill but all good. You follow the river and go through the valley. about 1500 people per race, 5 races. Great swag, you will love the race. Very nice race. This one is a must do. Perfect temperatures, humid, cool, your in the forest the whole time, the canopy blocks the sun. You run on the paved old wagon road, the big trees are 45-70 ft. in circumference. 200 to 250 ft tall. Race is well done, results are right away. Directions are a little lacking so do your home work. This is back country Northern CA. Watch the small towns, they have speed traps and they love writing tickets.

FYI, I am now 71, I have done 130 Marathons, 120 half’s, , 30 Ultras. This race was my 13th time for running it, The course has changed at least 3 times I know of. The organization did a marvelous job at putting this together. Fantastic community support and turn out. Lots of bands/drums etc. Volunteers had great attitudes. If you run this, if you park in a garage, park close to the exit, read all the race guide, take a space blanket just in case, mornings are cool. This race can turn hot later in the race. The swag is great and lots of thought has been put into this race. You will enjoy this for sure. There all hills, several so plan for it.

Lights, colors, swag, lots of folks, maybe 20,000 in the 1/2, another 20,000 in the 10K, no one could tell us for sure. Music all the way, Well put together. One issue, their web site needs some work also the communication via emails is weak. If you get same day bib pick up, they charge $50.00 plus processing fee, $10.00 plus tax. $60.00 plus to pick up. The web site also does not say where to go. But the runners are great and the bands are great too.

This race on an organization level has improved over last year. Busses and staff were perfect. The course is rather boring for me. Maybe for out of town folks it would be better. Finish area was perfect, well done, staff had it together for sure. The Medal was very plan Jane. We have so much here, Big horn sheep, mountain lions, Owls, hawks, bobcats and 16 mountain ranges that surround us. It looks to me that with a little effort a super cool medal could be made.

The Revelers is a very fine group, really. However, this race and I have done 9 of their races ranked way down the list. The buss pick up was a mess. The location for pick up, no signs, no people, nothing was there. The delegated people showed up very late. A parking attendant not associated with the race helped out. Runners were so mixed up. So the race started late. Also no bathrooms on the lot, also a big problem. A total mess. The course is a nice course, not the fastest Revelers but good. Not a lot of locals out. Aid stations are just water and electrolytes so bring your own snacks. Weather war great and finish was great and very well organized.

This is a lap race, originally signed up for the 31K, timer was not nice. I requested to drop down because for me, lap races are very boring. He ( timer guy ),said he would not do it but I could drop out if I wanted. Not a nice guy. Band speakers were directed to the spectators and not the course??? Mostly flat course, one hill, the trail was nice. They practice no cups which is so totally worthless. No cup races are no cup to help the directors do less work and make more money, which is a lot of Aravaipa races. Food was good, aid stations good. This race course has changed a couple of times. It used to be called the Summer Round UP. The current course is very hard. 6 miles up hill and a turn around. 400 ran it this time. Crazy hard for flat-landers. Most runners come from mountain areas or high altitude. Last year I exploded on the course, this year I improved by 1 hours and 35 minutes. This was my 7th race with Revel, some changes I do not like, course was good, it was put together well, Medal was great, however, finish line was sad, food, drink-sad, they dropped the box lunch, they dropped the mud/insulated drinking cup, the retail was sad as I never carry credit cards in a race, worker enthusiasm was not there. This year, lots of rain, mud, rocks, wind, cold but still I love it. The rain and mud slowed things down though.

There are some great views in this race, recent storms put lots of water in the creeks, several creek crossing. Nice running area. Good aid stations, mostly OK marked trails but needed more markers out, at one fork in the trail, no markings, that caused a delay. Award pick up is still up in the air, or lacking information. This organization gives out very cheap glasses or wine glasses, so cheap they break easily. If they are going to do that, spend some money and get good ones we can use. I have spoke up on this but no one wants to hear that.

Good course, pavement and trail, rolling hills and flat. Very well organized. Great SWAG, the race ends in ” Old Tucson Studios “, lots of Law Enforcement, lots of EMT’s on stand by. Good People and the runners came in from all over the nation, very cool. The staff was perfect, the weather was great. This is a great company to run with. The photo was sunrise this morning.

Much improved all the way around. Trail markings were perfect, aid stations were all well done and full, and a good selection. Still no National Anthem. That part is sad that a few cry and the rest have to agree??? Swag was good, t-shirts are good, the medal was smaller but very nice. A bunch of us used the GPS on the site, took us to the wrong place, about 20 cars ended up wrong. 2nd Try we went right to the Church address, it was closed and Locked gate. So we ask around, the correct entry was a short distance 1 +- mile away. The actual address of the park or guard shack should be used. Overall, it all turned out well.

Very well organized race. Our lead person was Hanna with BBSC’s endurance events. She was very sharp and very well organized. Totally focused. First part is slow, some hills, the end is great, went through 4-6 old train tunnels. We run on the old train path. Great views from up there. The town of Boulder city is the cleanest town I have seen in years.

If you are a regular runner, you need to know, this organizer is OK at best. The swag gets worst. They seem to change from medals ( wooden ) to very cheap wine glass type the might have cost them 19 cents. I ask the organizer about this and he told me he did a “survey of his runners “, I never received a survey and I have done several of his runs. Runners are here for fun, the race, the location and the medal. 100 plus dollars, sometimes 200, or more and you can not put out a good swag????? Thats called profiteering. Also this race and two other of his races have issues with trail signage. The photo posted was sun rise on race morning.

I did well till I hit 11,000 ft. , later found out I had come down with an infection, but no fault of anyone. However the race is fantastic as always, I know the course well, you will love it. Training is a must, and high altitude is 100% necessary. 95% trail, single track. Be ready. weather is all over the place so again, be ready. Miss the cut off time, miss the medal so get in shape.

Very difficult course, 4,000 ft. elevation gain, straight up the mountain. Turn around is at 13450 ft. Most of the runners are repeat and very good. Lots of women runners, more than I have ever seen in a race by percentage. Snow at the top, turns hot on the way down.

There were several races ran on the same day, The web site had corrections so I am sure some folks did not get the change. Ref. time start. Most everything else has improve. However, their award was a very cheap wine glass that every runner I know hates. Totally worthless and breakable. My big issue with this organization is that they do not play the National Anthem. Not 100% sure but I have not heard it at several runs. They also are now running the Tucson Marathon. The National Anthem had better be played. Very sad these folks forget just what country they live in.

I believe this one was a cold one. Start was 16 degrees. Good course, good run, no trail issues, very well organized, good aid stations. Fun people and good support from everyone. This group, ( Mad Moose-Utah ), I have ran many of their runs, Utah, and Colorado. I think they are fantastic. Sometimes cutoffs are hard but most often they are doable.

I have ran this race many times. I first ran this race in 1998 and did very well, over the years I have bettered the times and also ran slower. The trail, the start, the finish, the quality of the staff and their focus is really fantastic. Now that I am a lot older this proves to be an extreme challenge. Every aspect of this race is covered. The other runners come from around the Nation and the world. A challenge for everyone for sure. For sure the runners are really nice to exchange ideas and information.

Starts cool, nice views and will flatten out. You run the highway most of the race. Poorly put together and never has been a well done race. This year 2022 will be interesting. New owner from the Phoenix area, they historically give bad service and don’t return emails or calls. I have ran several of their run in the Phoenix area. They are an average organization. This is their first Tucson Marathon, it will be interesting how it goes. I am still waiting for both a call and an email to be returned from these new folks.

Just loved the race, on the horse shoe race, I would follow the river for 2-3 more miles and then turn to the finish. Loved the scenery, it was great, improve that if you can. Love trail running, so much more fun than street. Just returned from Chicago Marathon. This race beats that one 5 to 1. It was good but not grand. VR’s are just fine. Mostly, good folks. Who ever reads this, this “Trail Fest” is a must do. P.S. the medal is the 2nd best one I have received in 44 years and 150 races. The photo I posted is just the tip of the iceberg. That is Horse shoe bend from the top of the cliff, I diverted off the trail so to get the photo, no worries, your not running the edge. Safe as can be.
