DL Martin's Staging Area

Beautiful area for a race course, in the small town of Charleviox. Most of the course was homes, tree lined streets/trail and a LONG wooden bridge (1/2+ mile). Didn’t see much of the Lake Superior though (which I was hoping to see more of). Only two small lake viewing areas. Weather was perfect on this day for me. Race course is open to public traffic except for major crossing areas. Approximately half the course runs near a busy highway, so there is traffic noise. The first and last 3+/- miles was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Race support and production are good. I would do this race again.

This race celebrated 60 years in 2024. Amazing accomplishment!! Thus this year, the organizers went all out with swag, support and activities to celebrate. The Penny medal was brought back which I personally was waiting for. Being an out of stater, the course was relatively easy. Historic homes, monuments and blooming flowers & trees was scenic for me.

The best part of the course was the 2.5+/- miles within and on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track. I am not a NASCAR fan; however, experiencing being inside the speedway was exciting and memorable…. and even had the opportunity to” kiss the infamous bricks” during the race. The race production was well supported and the course was overall easy.

The American Tobacco “Rails to Trails” is a well-maintained, flat and easy course. The tall pine trees lining the road path were exceptionally beautiful in the early morning sun. This is a great race for runners and walkers. The only race production suggestion is to improve the post race food and drink selection and quantity. I’d do this race again if I were local to North Carolina.

This year, She Power Chandler had a brand new course. Sooooo much better and more enjoyable than past races. The course traveled along side a canal for the majority of the time. Much more scenic than past routes. Police and community support was excellent when crossing major busy roads. With the new course, this is a re-do local event for me.

Small town race mostly along the shore line and residential streets making this a scenic course. I especially enjoyed the boardwalk section open to the ocean views. The race production and swag are minimal and could certainly be improved upon. The course is totally OPEN to all traffic, pedestrians and cyclists at all times…. even at the start and finish lines. Being from out-of-state, I was very uncomfortable with the lack of safety, added obstacles and minimal directions while racing on the course. Glad I finished but not a race I plan to do again.

Earth Rock Run is a quaint, rural and small town race. May is a wonderful time of the year to feature this area and race with the spring blossoms and colors bursting. The only suggestion to improve race production is to provide better course safety. The race is open to vehicle traffic. From the start line till ~5 miles, the course travels with the flow of traffic and without cones/separation. This was nerve racking for me. After around mile 5, runners were re-directed to run facing traffic and there were cone division markers. I was then able to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and rest of the course.

What’s not to love about a snickers bar treat included in the swag. The course was fairly flat and easy. My pace was slower than usual but I enjoyed walking with a friend and the residential scenery and river views. Race organization, support and volunteers were great. A lot of locals came out to cheer, too.

They’re back!!! After two years of not having a live race, the Rock n Roll Arizona event and organizers came back in tip top form and with great enthusiasm. I have completed several RnR Arizona events since its inaugural day and this 2022 race production, course, music and volunteer support was exceptional, especially considering all the hurdles and obstacles that needed to be overcome, not only for the race organizers, but for the participants, too.

Beautiful and peaceful course. An old railroad train route was converted to a recreational path. The course travels beside the Delaware River for the majority of the way. This time of year still had an abundance of fall foliage. The course directors and volunteers were excellent support.

Race has an early 1-hour start for walkers, which is great for walkers during the first 6-8 miles. Then challenging when the runners catch up to the walkers. The back half of the race course is mainly narrow bike paths, sidewalks and/or restricted road area. It becomes very congested and walkers are definitely an obstacle for runners trying to pass by on the course path.

The support staff and volunteers were awesome especially the aid station team. I had an ankle issue and the team quickly supported my needs which enabled me to finish the race. Thank you aid station team. I put this race on my to do again list
