DL Martin's Staging Area

Absolutely gorgeous scenery along the Coastal Trail course. Experiencing the summer solstice extended daylight and cool temperatures in June, added to the experience. The course was fairly flat and easy for walkers. This Alaska race ranks in my top 3 favorite for state race destinations.

This was an enjoyable, easy-going race for me. I did not rush and spent the entire course time walking and talking with a friend. The race production and course is super supported by volunteers and the local community.

Overall an easy, flat course encompassing Mesa’s variety of residential areas. The course is exceptionally well supported by Mesa’s police and city services. This year (2023), the course was changed slightly and bus pickup and the finish line were in a new location, Sloan Park. Production aspect that could be improved on is parking and bus organization. Also hope they improve the half’s start line wait time (after bus drop off). Waiting 1-2 hours to start is a long time in the dark and cold.

Pumpkinman Festival is definitely on my would do again and in a heartbeat race event. This weekend event includes a triathlon and various other race distances too. I finished the half marathon. Absolutely beautiful course going thru backwoods, country roads and historical buildings/residences, etc. Oh and it gets better…. The Harvest Food feast at the finish is indescribably delicious. An abundance of absolutely scrumptious food with even enough for the last person finishing (that’s me). Oh, and the volunteer team…. incredibly supportive and wonderful cheerleaders. This race now ranks as my all time favorite race. I plan to highly recommend this event experience to everyone I talk with.

Wowzer! The hills were definitely challenging for me. The weather was hotter and more humid than I am accustom to. But other than my personal challenges, this race location and course are spectacular. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The race production is super supportive and allows sufficient time for all to finish the race. This is a great do again race…. only next time, I will be more prepared for hill work.

This course ranks among my top favorite for scenic views. The ocean, cliffs, mansions, historical sites, and wild daffodils were spectacular. The course was challenging with some of the steeper hills. When near the ocean, the wind was cold. When in the residential area, gets hot. Good to keep a jacket or extra layer ready for the on and off again routine, if your from a warmer climate area. The locals didn’t seem to have any issues. The overall race production and swag wasn’t anything to get excited about. I would do this race again just for the scenery.

Great, easy, flat and quick course for half marathoners. Full marathoners get to enjoy premium city/valley views as the course winds itself down into the city. The race production was among the best I experienced and the 10th anniversary swag was bountiful and top notch. The race directors went above my expectations. Local police, fire and the community gave full support securing the course from uninvited drivers. The volunteers were not only supportive but great cheerleaders. This is a good race for those visiting the valley in the spring. For locals, its a great race stay in shape.

Great race for holiday fun. The Event was well organized and supported. The elf volunteers were jolly and happy. The only wish was for more cookies and candies along the race route…. but certainly understand Covid still impacts all race events somehow. Overall, this is a do again race event.

The Arizona Rock n Roll races are always big, crazy fun, well run and supported course. Great race for out of staters to come and complete. Lots of local other activities in general area. Usually perfect race weather conditions.

Easy course; however, the race has 3:30 time limit. Faster runners enjoy finishing along side the Gilbert Days Parade Route in process. Race walkers (like me) finish along with street sweepers and clean up crews with a few onlooking crowd cheers. Recommend for anyone looking for easy course.
