This was a well organized, well run race. Plenty of well manned water stations, many had gels too. The volunteers were very supportive and enthusiastic. I was really surprised at how many spectators showed up for the race and how motivating they were. There is plenty to do in Myrtle Beach, golf being #1. Plenty of really good restaurants too. I suggest staying near the airport insead of near the waterfront. It was cheaper and made race logistics easier as most of the waterfront roads will be closed for the race. Plenty of race day parking right across the street from the baseball stadium. Good after party with a DJ, i am a beer snob and as usual brought my own. Pizza for all the runners

This is a flat course! But, this was my worst running experience out of 10 full marathons. No PR here.
We had a humid & foggy morning. It was hard to see much of anything. We did run through many neighborhoods. You lose any kind of shade past the back half, except for miles 21-23 which you run along trees. The half marathoners & full marathoners run together until appox mile 11.5. I didn’t really care for the course, it was very boring. I think it would have been better with a less humid and hot day, so take that into account.
The race was at 6:35am. I stayed on Ocean Blvd because I wanted to be on the beach. If you choose this option be careful since the course closes one side on the road. Getting to the race start was only a 8 min drive. They had many porta potties at the start, but could have had more. They have 2 corrals A & B that are assigned. It was a smooth race start.
Fuel/Hydration: No issues. Every few miles there was water & Gatorade. There were handful of stations with fuel (GU).
Other: Crowd support in the 1st portion was solid. There were people out and cheering people on. The volunteers and police were amazing. I absolutely love my medal, which is a seashell that opens up and revels highlights of the course.

The Myrtle Beach marathon was a very good race. Would recommend everyone who is trying for 50 states to do this for South Carolina.
Expo: Packet pick up is the day before at the boardwalk at the park real close to where the race starts and ends. It basically only comes with your T-shirt and bib. Additionally you can have your bib mailed to you if you don’t want to come to the expo. Expo was pretty small with just a handful of vendors, and some live music. Also ton of communication sent to you before the race. The team that runs the marathon did an excellent job on letting everyone know what to do.
Race Day mourning: Parking is at Broadway at the Beach. Same place were packet pick up is. (basically a huge shopping area with places like the aquarium, hotels, and restaurants). You have a 5-10 min walk across the street where the marathon starts and ends at the minor league baseball stadium. Starts at 6:30am. I think almost every race needs more porta potties, but both this one defiantly needed more at the start over 20 min wait. Only negative thing about the production aspect.
Course: First off. This is not a pretty course. It does not have good scenery or anything that special on it. Lot of it is on highways just passing mini golf and fast food joints. If you want a pretty race. This is not the marathon to do. So after saying that the first 5 miles or so you going through neighbors hoods and a main street with stores. Then mile 7-17 would typically be the most interesting. You are running a long the main road that is next to the beach. However, 2026 there was heavy fog and I could not see the beach. However, even if there was no fog the buildings would block about 75% of the ocean views. However, the buildings do keep the shade up. So both pros and cons of this. Additionally you split away with the half marathons around mile 11. So before this course was crowded it does thin out a lot after mile 11. Which comes to 18-26. Outside of a two mile from 22-24 which are in a bike path through a wooded area. You are on a busy highway with no shade. If the weather is sunny and hot like it was in 2026. It can be brutal. It was low 70s and very high dew points. Especially for someone who been training through the winter. However, if it was a cooler day with the course being mainly flat I could see a lot of PRs. So weather can be a wildcard. But either way not the most impressive course, but lets be honest Myrtle Beach is not running in a historic city like Boston, NY, Chicago or the beauty of the western US. The city itself is just a tourist trap. Which can be good or bad depending on what you like.
Aid Stations and Volunteer support were great! Aid stations had Gatorade and Water at each stop. Same with Porta potties (though the first couple of stops needed more). Later aid stations also had Gels. Aid stations are roughly every 1.5-2 miles. Race Support was okay. Not the most amount of people, but for 5000 runners it seemed like it was never completely empty. Lot of police to help with traffic as well since you running along main roads most of the time.
Swag: The medal was cool. Very simple shell. The long sleeve t-shirt you get at packet pick up was nice as well. However, one thing that Myrtle beach does that not many places do is you get a second item for finishing the marathon. In 2026 it was a full beach towel. In past years it was a short sleeve short. So you get two things from them which is very nice!
Overall it was a fun race and time. It was very well organized with great Swag. However, the course is pretty bland and the weather could be a wildcard even if the course is mainly flat. Would still recommend this for any 50 states trying to get one done for South Carolina.

Decent race. Route is a little boring – a long out and back with not many spectators, but was pretty flat. The weather started off foggy/misty and humid, and got hotter as the sun came out. The finish area was nicely set up, and I liked that they gave us a beach towel as a finisher swag. The medal was also really nice (it was a shell shape that opened up). The finish area also had a small slice of pizza, cookie, banana and water, plus two beers. It looked like the only beer options were Bud Light or Michelob Ultra (yuck), so didn’t partake. Wish they had other more local beer options.
Things I didn’t like was that it was a pain to get to the parking area for the race start. The cops were standing around not really directing traffic, so there was a long buildup of cars trying to turn onto the street to get to the start. Additionally, the route crossed many open streets, and the cops would let some cars pass through, as runners were in the area, which is a little demoralizing and slowed my time down to let the cars pass.

Overall a solid race I’d recommend for SC. Flat course near the water, though the views were not mind-blowing. Good crowd support and water/gels throughout, but especially during the first half when Half and Full runners are on the same course.
Best part was the swag. Really nice medal, high-quality long-sleeve shirt, and a bonus microfiber beach towel that I’ll use often. Packet pickup was small and underwhelming. Post-race party was not great: 1 slice of pizza, 1 chocolate chip cookie, and 2 domestic beers. But it was kind of nice location at the minor league baseball stadium.
Cool and foggy for the first half. Became quite warm and humid for the second half. Not much shade except when it goes through a wooded park area around miles 20-22.
Wouldn’t go out of my way to run a second time, but a great option for SC or if you’re nearby.

I ran the marathon and overall found it to be a fairly average experience.
Packet pickup and parking at the start were very easy and well organized. I appreciated the early 6:30 a.m. start, especially given how extremely humid the conditions were. At the start, humidity was around 98% with heavy fog. The course itself was very flat and fast—definitely a PR-worthy route if the weather had been cooler.
As the race went on, temperatures climbed into the 70s and the sun became intense. There was a breeze for much of the race, which helped, but whenever it died down the heat became overwhelming. Aid stations were frequent and consistently stocked with water and Gatorade, and GU gels were offered later on. That said, it would have been nice to see extras like ice or cooling wipes, especially given the conditions.
At the finish, I was underwhelmed by the post-race food: a banana, a very small slice of pizza, and a cookie. Two free drinks were included, but since I don’t drink alcohol, that perk didn’t add much value for me. On the positive side, the medal was really nice—a clamshell design that opened up—and we also received a quality beach towel and a long-sleeved shirt, both of which I liked.
While the race was well organized, it didn’t stand out as anything special, and I probably wouldn’t choose to do it again.

First time running in MB.
Bib pickup was easy. Was located at The Hangout at Broadway at the Beach. Quick lines for bibs, race finisher shirt was relatively long. A few vendors with shorts, shirts, BibBoards, socks, shoes, and gels.
Race morning parking was easy. Large lot at Broadway at Beach, short walk over to Pelicans stadium where starting line was. Elites and wheelchairs went off first. Then two corrals with both half/full runners in each. DJ at start line, music blaring. Set the tone for a good race.
Course (Half Marathon): Fast and flat course. Day started off very foggy for the first hour or so. Ended the day in full sun and humidity. Heard numerous full marathoners talking about how hard the heat/humidity was. Definitely could see how hard that would have been. Raced on the street, couple turns in first few miles, then straight for a long stretch. Area around Market Common definitely had the most spectators. Tons of crowd support in that area. Back towards a long stretch on Ocean Blvd where there were a decent amount of spectators as well. Finish line was same spot as starting line. A few photographers on course as well as finish line. In general the course was a little boring. Would be great if there were spots where you were racing oceanside, but I don’t know that is logistically possible.
Post Race: Post race party was pretty good. Various vendors (coffee, tropical smoothie, gear, etc.) 2 free beers after finish. Food was a little disappointing, just a pizza slice (that was cut small) and a cookie.
Swag: Medal is awesome! Seashell medal that opens to display a Myrtle themed inside. I also got the Bless Your Heart medal for completing this race as well as Charleston. Shirt was long sleeve. Extra swag was a beach towel.
All in all, a great race. Production seemed organized and communication was great. They provide an “Athlete Guide” on the website with all vital information. Course scenery is a little non-existent, as you run the majority of the race on long stretches of road.

Pre-race email communication was good and answered all my questions when combined with the race guide. Hotels were arranged through the “Vacation Myrtle Beach” visitors bureau. The race set up a Strava group for us to build community before the race. The Expo was in an outdoor area in a mall for bib and shirt pickup: Easy in, easy out.
There is no drop bag for this race since parking is very near the start line. Weather this day started ~63 degrees with ~100% humidity. Half-marathoners (~3000) started at the same time as full marathoners (~2000) using 2 corrals, and there was sufficient room on the streets. At my finish it was sunny and low 70s. The humidity created some heavy fog patches within the first 15ish miles: At times seeing 40 yards ahead of you was a challenge. In the end that doesn’t affect anything other than block your view of the ocean. The course itself was mostly city streets. It did go through a park towards the end that offered shade. The last ~2 miles were in full sun and added that extra incentive to be done with it! Usually I don’t run well in heat but didn’t have any issues with this race: I stayed on top of my energy and fluid needs and my Endurolytes. Water stops were roughly every 2-3 miles with porta potties, and that was sufficient. Generally along the course there were pockets of spectators, though they did show up in force at the finish. The police and volunteers offered ample traffic control. Along the course there were 2 live bands that I recall and 3 DJs spinning music.
Post race chute offered water and a banana as well as a swag beach towel. You could also get a pizza slice and there were 2 drink tickets on your bib. Some people/families did hang around after the race, but I don’t recall any formal entertainment being offered. The start and end of the race were at a baseball stadium, and they did have additional food/drink available for purchase. Loved the shirt, medal, and beach towel for this year!

This is a very well run race with great communication from the RD. The course is very flat and the views were sadly pretty non existent due to the mist we had throughout the morning. However, the mist did help keep the temperature cooler as it was a warm day so I’ll take that for a win. Lots of great volunteers and Police ensuring safety throughout the course. Aid stations had water and gatorade and were well spaced throughout the course.
Swag was great – long sleeve tech t-shirt and a beach towel. Water, bananas, pizza and cookies at the finish line all helped to refuel.
Definitely a race worth doing again.

The race is on Saturday, so I had to plan accordingly. Early packet pickup was Friday. Pickup was nothing special. Some vendors around. Pickup was easy enough. I stayed at a hotel near packet pickup and the start/finish area (about 1 mile away).
The day of the race was beautiful. Extremely humid! Again, I’ve ran some pretty humid races, but this one tops them all. 100% humidity equals fog, which made it fun for me, I love foggy mornings.
The swag was top notch. Race shirt was a nice long sleeve, not heavy or gaudy. Finisher medal is a very cool clam shell that opens to a nice image of Myrtle Beach. We also got a finisher beach blanket, which was on point for Myrtle Beach.
Overall, I enjoyed running Myrtle Beach. I would recommend it if you need a South Carolina race or are in the area when it takes place.

Overall, this was a pretty good race! Email communication, packet pickup, race day parking were all easy and up to standard. The actual course is basically flat the entire way through, which was nice considering the heat!! One thing I wished was better: post race food- only 1 small slice of pizza and a cookie included along with a water & banana. Smoothies were available for purchase. 2 beers for each runner, no cider or other alcohol available. The swag was a nice long sleeved shirt, a medal and a towel which was really nice. The race had 2 corrals but it didn’t seem too bad in terms of crowding, everyone seemed to be moving along and everyone had great race etiquette. There wasn’t much to see on the course itself, aside from restaurants, hotels and beach shops. Pretty decent crowd support! Easy to locate reasonable lodging on the beach. I had a rental car which worked well- parking is plentiful and close to the start! There were 6 hydration stations for the half- I wished there were more as it was a warm one! I think the race organizers should seriously consider adding at least 2 more stations. In the meantime, I’d recommend bringing your own hydration. No gels or gu’s on course for half marathoners- just a heads up. All of the things I mentioned are relatively minor and overall, I’d recommend this race for South Carolina!

The expo pick up went smoothly, not a lot of booths/venders. Just picked up bib & shirt, no bag or packets. Shirt is very nice long sleeve, with a nice design. Race morning had lots of free parking across the street from the starting venue. Starting line had 2 different corals. Oddly enough there wasn’t any rhyme or reason to the different corals. Both had half marathon & full marathon, both has fast runners and slow runners. Seemed odd to me. The morning was foggy for the first 13 or so miles which made it nice to run in. Then the sun came out and drove the humidity way up to 90% or so. The last 10 miles of the race were hot and tough. I srarred to cramp up a few times and popped in quite a few salt tables. Unfortunately that caused my stomach to get really upset. Didn’t get any cramps. But my stomach was in a lot of pain the last 6miles causing me to not get a very good time. What do you do get cramps or bad stomach issues oh well had a great time, highly recommend the Myrtle Beack Marathon. The best part were the metals very cool design that opens up.

The packet pickup and race are at “Broadway at the Beach” and Pelican Ballpark. This is a huge entertainment area with easy parking and a lot of fun places to visit. Packet pickup was a breeze. There was live music, seating, and a big new restaurant called The Hangout. It wasn’t a full expo, but it was nice not to waste time politely smiling at people selling windows and other boring stuff. The running store’s booth had the cheapest prices I’ve seen for goods like socks and energy gels.
Race morning had easy parking and everything went as planned. The start and finish lines were a little awkward and crowded, but that may have been due to some construction.
The course is on major roads with plenty to look at, but nothing exceptional. The course was wide and I ran with lots of people around me the whole time. The city workers and police did a phenomenal job. You do not run anywhere near a beach or beautiful nature like with other coastal races.
The post race food was truly terrible. They served cold cheese pizza that sat outside for hours. I took one bite and spit it out into a trash can. I’m not picky, but it wasn’t safe to eat.
The medal and finisher towel are top notch! The shirt is cute, but runs small and is see-through when you hold it up to the light.
I absolutely recommend this race, but make it a long weekend and take a vacation here also!

I’ve done this race now for 4 years straight. This year’s race was the most perfect weather. I am still not a fan of the expo, if you like expo’s you will be highly disappointed. My favorite part has always been that you get a long sleeve and a race tank. This year they did a t-shirt instead of a tank, but two shirts! You also get alcohol tickets and free pizza at the finish line. The finish party makes up for the crappy expo. The course is a favorite.
