Diana Freiberg's Staging Area

This is another well run rock n roll event. T-shirts and medals are getting better again after Ironman bought them. The course was much hillier than I was expecting. One steep hill lasted for a mile and a half (mile 10-11.5). Seattle is a very pretty city. The weather was great.

This was the best supplied race I have run. Bacon, licorice, pretzels, Swedish fish, tissues, chocolate, beer, oranges, orange candy and all the normal stuff. The spectators were great. The only drawback was funneling 43000 people through a five foot opening to get to corrals.

Nice flat course, perfect temperature, the other runners were great and a lot of fun. The neighborhoods did a fantastic job decorating their street for it…. a lot of fun.

This is a very scenic race. It starts at the naval academy and goes through downtown Annapolis. The course is mostly flat the toughest part was going over the naval academy bridge. It was very cold and windy and as people hit the bridge, they had to adjust because the wind was blowing their legs out from underneath them. I was sick that day so I was very happy to see that the course was 1.1 miles short. My husband wasn’t so happy because he thought he significantly reduced his time. The medals are nice, but they kind of shoved them at us in the plastic bag they came in as we finished the race. There were oysters and beer at the end of the race. I don’t consume either, but everyone else seemed to love it.

It was fun running through a battlefield. This one went through the manassas battlefield. The weather was nice. Some hills but not too bad. They had large sign along the course to tell you what happened in places as you run by. The medal was pretty awesome!

Seven miles of this race is on Eisenhower….not much to look at. But then balance of the race is in a park which has a lot of shady areas and is much prettier.

I loved running in San Antonio, this was my 15th rock n roll half marathon this year and I can really see the effects of the Ironman organization now owning this. I won’t be running this series next year. It is a shame. Glad I did this before the change happened.

It was very crowded and we had a hard time just getting to the start. This race started at night and I didn’t take into account that with the time change i was in effect running at midnight my time, it was very difficult.

This was the worst half that I have run. The packet pick up was difficult to get to and underwhelming. We had to go through security to get to the start, but we were not secure from and spectators. There was nothing to look at while running. Tons of cheaters, why bother running at all?

This was my first trip to San Jose and I really enjoyed it. It is a great place to run, the course is very nice, the scenery is nice and I would definitely run this one again.

I really enjoyed this race. There are so many statues and they ran us through some great parks. It was one of my favorite races of the rock n roll series, I would definitely recommend it.

Not much to look at. The packet pick up was nice, the convention center was spacious. Not a lot to look at on the course, it wasn’t far from home so this was easy for us to get to.

This was probably my favorite place that we ran in 2017. Well worth the trip. I would definitely like to do it again. The people are great and love to party. Had a great time!

The 5k before the half is always good to get acclimated to the area. We ran along the waterfront and it was very enjoyable. The weather was very nice and there were a lot of boats to look at while running.

The June gloom is great for running. This was a very scenic route and was a really nice race. I would definitely run this one again. Always nice to run in San Diego.

This was a very nice race. We loved running in Liverpool. The other participants were fantastic to run with. They all like to have a good time and we’re a lot of fun. Well worth the trip across the pond.

It was unseasonable hot with 90 percent humidity. The race organizers were not prepared for this so if you were a slow runner like myself, there wasn’t much left at the water stations by the time I came through. Luckily, the spectators we fantastic and were hosing us down and passing out water. This was the closest that I came to not being able to finish a race, I got to a point where I stopped sweating.

Raleigh was fun, there are a lot of rolling hills, but the weather was as close to perfect for me as I could have asked for. There was a lot of scenery during the race as well. Would run this one again.

It was something running the some route that JFK took. The weather was nice and the post race was really good. We ran through several Dales neighborhoods that were very hospitable and nice to look at.

This is one of the races that I want to run every year. I am not sure why I am so drawn to it, but the scenery is nice, weather is usually nice, the other runners are great and it is organized well.

The had a record cold snap while we were there for this race and we were not prepared for the cold. One of the things that people do is drop clothes as they go and those clothes are picked up for donation, I was picking up the clothes to put on to stay warm. We were walking a lot of this with my brother who had just been cured of cancer. It was a special race for us.
