I run for fun and so I start by doing a shout for the good communication from day one from this race . They suggested airports to fly into, they had a host hotel , and a third party vendor that would shuttle you to the race start and pick you up when you finished . The expo – small town but they had a nurse who dressed up in a snark costume and was available for pictures . They had a dj who asked folks sillY questions and you would spin the wheel. You meet the race director before you went into the expo who explained they did races and could not predict the weather . Honest and up front! Race started in time at 7:30 and since the shuttle dropped me off at 6:30, I could use the indoor bathrooms at the hangout , grab a free cup of coffee, check my gear for free, and sit at a table and chat with other runner. The race started in time and they honored the legacy runners in the race, it was a flat course through gulf shores state park – water and Gatorade – one station had pickle juice and there was as nun gels at mile 8. Two beer tickets and no line for the beer and you actually got a meal when you finished. Since I am an over 70 runner , my only suggestion is 70 – 99 age group will have lots of runners skipping this race as they want to be recognized at 75 or 80 or 85 as being first in their age group and with a 4 hour time limit, you are missing a group that will skip this race . It will help if you had some pull with the lodge host hotel for a check out at 12 and give us an hour extra hour. I offered to pay and they said no
