Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin is the most fun you’ll ever have running. This toe-tapping, head-banging, air-guitaring goodness of a race route is lined with live bands and entertainment. Starting in Phoenix Park, runners are in for a treat as they pass all of the fan favourites!
Experience live music along the course and journey along the River Liffey past Christ Church Cathedral and the famous Brewery. Afterwards, there’s a concert at the Finish Festival.
Participant Perks:
Live Local Bands along the Course
Technical Participant T-shirt
Fantastic Finisher’s Medal
Scenic Course
Plentiful Course Support, including Sports Drink and Energy Gel
Free Admission to the Finish Line Festival and Concert
Free Shuttle – takes runners and spectators from finish to public rail at Heuston Station
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series makes running fun. Each year, more athletes participate in Rock ‘n’ Roll running events than any other running series in the United States.
What started as a simple idea in 1998 – a marathon with bands along the course celebrating each participant – soon transformed the running landscape igniting the second running boom.
While entertainment and the energy of a festival weekend define the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series experience, the fact that runners have raised more than $310 million for participating charities shows our heart and soul.
Event weekends include a world-class Health & Fitness Expo and culminate with finish line concert featuring the biggest names in music, with past performers including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pitbull, Goo Goo Dolls, All-American Rejects, Flo-Rida, Train and Lady Antebellum.
In 2014, the Remix Challenge was born, and runners can now earn extra bling by completing two days of running in 11 cities. Runners who participate in multiple cities each year can also qualify for Heavy Medal awards, Limited Edition medals and a coveted spot in our Hall of Fame.
Whether you’re running your 10th marathon, third half marathon, first 5K or supporting a runner who has overcome the odds, we bring the best of the active lifestyle experience to a 100,000 sq ft trade show, superb course execution, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

What is similar to other Rock N Roll races:
-Multiple weekend events. I did the 5k on Saturday and the half on Sunday. The entire 5k was in a park, the half had different locations for the start and the finish.
-If you compete in two races, you get a “Remix” medal.
-If you’ve competed in an US race + this race, you get a “World Rocker” medal.
-All the medals were nice.
-The race shirts were great.
-Rock N Roll is a good organizer, so things are mostly smooth.
What is different than other Rock N Roll races:
-The Expo is non-existent. It is really just a bib pick-up.
-There is limited water. No water on the course for the 5k. For the half, they gave out bottles of water a few times during the race.
-It was a bit of a pain in the butt to get to the start/finish.
-This race (like other European races I’ve done) have urinal tents in addition to the regular port-o-potties – I wish US races would add this!! It speeds things up.
-I didn’t think that there were many bands along the course, but that didn’t bother me.
-Of all the races I’ve done, this is the only one that did non-alcoholic beer at the beer tent (no alcohol was available at all). That shocked me. For Ireland?
It’s great race weekend and a nice place to visit. I would definitely recommend.

I liked Dublin Rock´n Roll Half Marathon. The course takes you from the docklands in the east to the huge park in the west of the city and the atmosphere is quite good. Right after finishing the half marathon runners have the possibility to run a fun race of about 2,5 k.

Second time runner. Participated in 5k, Halfmarathon and fun run. Lots of swag but this years expo was very small, though centrally located in trinity college. In comparison: cheap entry. Start is at the port, finish in Phoenix park. The course itself has some sights but Dublin is more for the vibe. Free Shuttles from the park to catch buses/ trams.
Good start for a nice weekend!

First Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Dublin ever 🙂 It was a cool race with a live band every mile, and a concert at the finish. The course led through the city center, which was great, and of course, the afterparty took place mostly in pubs. Everything went smoothly, and I’ll definitely will be back some day. The race was early in the morning, so the timing was a bit off for the finish concert, but great fun nonetheless.
