This was my first ever race, something I signed up to do when I started running a few weeks earlier to stay motivated. I don’t have anything to compare it to – but it was such a great experience. Everything was organized and easy to find. There was so trouble getting people in at the beginning which had everyone feeling rushed to get to their corral, but it all worked out fine. Racing down Michigan was really fun, the back half of the 10K went through the park and onto the lake front, which was beautiful. My only complaint here is the lake front trail is not closed off so there were other people running and bikers mixed in for this section. The event swag was great quality and the event ended in the Taste of Chicago event space, which made it extra fun. Overall, great crowd and well organized event.

Everything about this event was just right. Easy registration, lots of communication via emails, easy to get to, easy to find potties (a lot), gear check (super efficient), corrals, “customer service”, space to warm up. The announcer was helpful but not obnoxious or overly loud. Perfect run temp (55), course is pretty flat, a slight incline in the middle, but it was nice on the way back! Post food: a biodegradable container with chicken & waffle, sausage, fruit and a slice of cheesecake and 2 taste tickets for Taste of Chicago (TOC)and beverage ticket. Nice metal. Did not stay to get 1st award for AG….was catching a local train but it looked like a good time, with live music and so much to do and eat at the TOC, but I had to go… A must run event. It was my slowest 5k in years, but coming off an injury was worth it.

Communication was perfect. Came in from out of state. Race course was great, enjoyed some of downtown as well as lakefront. Weather was perfect for that time of year (50s). Race swag was better than some half or full marathons! The jacket is really nice! Post-race was great with awesome food and beverage options. Lots of room to spread out and sit after the race. Corrals were well organized. Would recommend and repeat if I’m in the area.

I really enjoyed this race, this year it was going on at the same time as the Taste of Chicago. The meal was nice and the view was amazing, as a Chicago native I loved running on the lake watching the sun continue to rise.

The race was early in the morning and cool, the course was fairly flat, out and back down Michigan Ave, with great views of iconic buildings and the Chicago river. Brunch and beer served afterwards, with Maggie Speaks playing onstage. Great laid-back atmosphere. Nice lightweight running pullover as swag. Going for the 10k next year so I can get a medal 🙂

It was a fun run with an out-and-back along the Magnificent Mile and along the lakeside. It was chilly, but great for running. The wind was a little harsh at times, but tolerable. I loved that they gave out a jacket instead of a shirt, but the sizing was way off. However, they were really great about exchanges. My only issue was I had my packet mailed and it didn’t reach me in time and my hubby had to overnight it to me and that cost a lot to do.
