This is a VERY small race in a beautiful area of the country. The course itself is pretty flat, but the elevation is around 6400’. I could feel it when I exerted myself, so I made the smart decision to walk the half. Luckily, they had a generous finishing time limit. Even at the back of the pack, the aid stations still had plenty of water and power aid. I stayed in the area for 4 days and loved Grand Teton National Park (highly recommend).

Don’t expect crowd support or much communication from the race directors, but expect gorgeous views to make up for it.

My only complaint is the race shirt ran really small. I typically get a women’s large for a roomy fit, but the shirt fit like a small so I can’t wear it. Size up if you do the race!

PS – I loved the medal!

Chasing 50 states? This is the race most pick for North Dakota. Let start out in the right foot. The town of Fargo is very welcoming. There was a lot of crowd support along the route with plenty of aid stations, along with a nice and flat race course. A bonus was free race.

They did have to change the course due to flooding, but the mile marked became way off. My Garmin had my at 8.11 miles at the 7 mile marker. I was genuinely concerned at that point, but it was likely just due to the course change. In the end, the race did run long at 13.55 miles. Uff da! Additionally, there were multiple times where we crossed paths with the marathoners. The fast marathoners had to contend with passing us slower half marathoners and we couldn’t get out of the way with the elite runners coming back towards us on the right. It was a bit of a mess.

I picked the race for 2024 since it was the 20th anniversary. I was hoping for some cool swag since it was an anniversary year, but I personally didn’t care for the jacket (material, colors, design).

This was my second Vacation Races event, and they did not disappoint! The race production is smooth, the swag is awesome, and the runner’s goodie box after crossing the finish line was full of delights.

The uphill course is a gradual and deceiving at times. I logged a lot of miles hiking the week before the race and was happily exhausted crossing the finish line. I recommend exploring the park in the days leading up to the race instead of after if you prefer less crowds.

This race gives you an opportunity to run the strip after the sun goes down and experience all the lights, crowds, and glitz of the Vegas strip. There was music nearly the entire way from bands and dj’s; the race felt like a party. There was nearly 12k half marathoners and another 5k runners for the 10k distance. It made for crowded corrals and long wait times to begin the race (we waited over 45 minutes from when we entered the corral until we crossed the start line). Overall, I loved this race and super happy we picked this for our Nevada race.

A beautiful out and back course along the Columbia River that starts in the bucolic town of Hood River. This was an expensive race, but there was a lot of bang for your buck. They offered both breakfast pre-race and lunch post-race along with plenty of fully stocked aid stations. Runners also received a beanie and a finishers medal. Unfortunately, if you wanted a race shirt it did cost extra, but I liked the idea of something different than your typical race shirt. Be prepared for LOTS of uphill, especially in the first half.

The first five miles are challenging as you climb, climb, climb Looking Glass Hill. The view from the top of mile 5 is spectacular. From there you can fly downhill till about mile 10.5 and it’s another climb with rolling hills to the finish. Great race production, nice swag. Stay awhile and explore Glacier NP. You won’t regret it!

This was my Alabama race, and I definitely recommend it to other runners/walkers. I loved the medal, shirt, free photos, and unique cave finish. With over 700 feet of elevation gain, it was challenging. It’s mostly rolling hills, but the hills at mile 8 and 11.8 were steep and awful. We walked the Cave section, since it was hard to see and wet in areas. Definitely not a race for a PR, but do it for the experience. One more thing…I expected Alabama to be warmer. It was 27 degrees at the start 🥶

The race production company was top notch! From host hotels, aid stations, volunteers, and communication. This was a well organized race and I loved the medal. I was not a fan of the jacket, but kudos to giving swag above and beyond a tee shirt.

I walked this half marathon with a grip and there was still plenty of support for the back of the packers.

This race was hilly and hot! The water stations were 2 miles apart, but by mile 7 I needed water more frequently. I regret not bringing my camelback! The open roads got very busy by the end of the race, if you’re a back of the pack runner like me. Many times I opted for the sidewalk because the traffic was moving fast and not every intersection had someone to stop traffic.
Luckily, the course is clearly marked, because there are a lot of turns!

I liked the shirt and medal, and how patriotic the town was.

Man of man It felt wonderful to be a part of a large race again! The race production is top notch! There were plenty of aid stations with more than just your usual Gatorade or water, tons of crowd support, and a fun atmosphere. You’ll need all of that at mile 6 when you climb, climb, climb! I loved the medal too (but not the shirt). I loved that the expo had fun photo props.

Train for this one. I completed it with a friend that didn’t train and we walked the last 4 miles; it was all she could do to finish.

Sedona is a beautiful area and the race course has amazing views. The hills were brutal Anna never stopped, making the course challenging. I have one complaint. I was at mile 11ish at the 2:45ish mark when they opened the road we were running on. I did not feel safe at that point. I was surprised because the course time limit was 5 hours.

I loved this race! The race starts at the Crazy Horse Memorial then finishes down the scenic Mickelson Trail. The leaves has already turned and the foliage was pretty. The course is hilly for only the first three miles or so, and the rest was a gradual downhill. Walker friendly and I walked this race with a friend that was completing her first half marathon. I loved the race shirt and medal. Did I mention free race photos? South Dakota was beautiful with so many wonderful parks and scenic drives. Highly recommend!

This race is typically in April; however, the race was pushed to September in 2021 due to covid. The race starts at a marina and follows a paved path with tons of shade from the September heat. I loved that it was not on any open roads. The route had plenty of water stops, but few porta potties (plenty at the start). The swag was great – zip up hoodie and large medal. Milwaukee is a fun town to spend a weekend.

This race till place during the Covid pandemic and the race director did a great job with Covid precautions. The course is mostly flat and on a crushed limestone trail that was well shaded by trees.

I love the soft long-sleeved shirt. The medal is a nice size and has a spinner! The race also provided loads of free race photos.

There is so much to like about this race! Nice swag, flat course, sufficient aid stations, went off without a hitch. The first 8-9 miles are fabulous as you run through the Citadel, battery, and gorgeous historic Charleston. The last few miles are in an industrial area and not scenic at all. However, the race ends at a beautiful park and the after party was nice with free food, drinks, and if you want more there are plenty of food trucks. I unfortunately had tendinitis issues flare up and by mile 10 or so just wanted to be done!

Spend a few days being a tourist in Charleston. You won’t be disappointed!

One downside, which wasn’t an issue for me, but you told ave to be at mile 10.3 within 2:45. I was told that these runners were picked up and drive in a bus to 10.3 and allowed to finish and get their medal. I don’t like this for 2 reasons. 1 – they didn’t finish the half and got a half medal. 2 – if their results are counted, they have their finishing times faster than the people how ran the whole thing!

The race production was top notch! Lots of swag too! We finished downhill into a narrow shoot to lots of fan fare! Great crowd sport, plenty of port a potties and said stations. My only complaint would be a long stretch on an open road. There was a car accident while we were running on it and my heart leaped in worry for runners. Luckily the accident didn’t cause a runner to be injured.

I was super impressed with the swag and postcards race party. Runners received a nice long sleeved tech shirt, cool medal, tons of food at the end, free beer and samples of bourbon. They had a live band playing at the post race party that was phenomenal! There is an awful hill in Cherokee Park, but the rest was smooth sailing. Sarah, the 3 hour pacer was awesome. I highly recommend this race.
