Hills and Hollows Half Marathon & 5K

The Hills and Hollows Half Marathon officially starts with the American Legion Honor Guard presenting the American Flag followed by the National Anthem being sung. The Half Marathon is Certified, and considered to be “One of the Best Certified Half Marathons in Southern Illinois”.

The course is on flat to rolling to hilly country roads surrounding runners with a quilt patch of fall foliage, corn and soybean fields at harvest time. Aid stations are located near every mile marker with Water and Gatorade.

The Hills and Hollows Half Marathon and 5K Run is dedicated to the memory of Melvin J. Fisher, a volunteer fireman and member of the Valmeyer community who lost his battle with cancer on September 1, 2004. The Race Director and Creator of this event is Marvin Fisher, Melvin’s twin brother.
