Join us for the annual Kewash Trail Run—and for the first time ever, we’re going the full distance! The Kewash Marathon makes its debut in 2026, giving runners the chance to tackle 26.2 miles along the scenic Kewash Nature Trail.

The Kewash Nature Trail is a former railroad bed that winds for nearly 14 miles between the towns of Keota and Washington. The Kewash Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Run is run on the section of trail between West Chester and Washington, which has a crushed limestone surface for most of its route (the portion within Washington’s city limits is paved asphalt). This trail is a mixture of woodland and prairie, which offers a scenic view of the surrounding rolling countryside; wildlife and wildflowers are abundant along this natural corridor. Some of the highlights along the trail include Willow Pond, Hayes Timber and The Crooked Creek Bridge – one of the most scenic places on the trail.
The Kewash Nature Trail offers a fast, non-technical out-and-back course with a mix of gradual inclines, declines, and flat stretches—perfect for first-timers and seasoned runners alike. The trail is half paved and half crushed limestone with a very small gradual incline going out and a small gradual decline coming back.
All participants will receive:
👕 Race shirt (short sleeve for 5K/10K; long sleeve option for Half/Full Marathon)
🏅 Finisher medal
🍻 Post-race drink ticket (21+)
📷 Free race photos available for download after the race

This was a flat and well organized race. Weather was good and packet pick up was quick. Trying to run in each state and this was a good choice. Also, very nice to have a live race after all of them going virtual last year.

This race till place during the Covid pandemic and the race director did a great job with Covid precautions. The course is mostly flat and on a crushed limestone trail that was well shaded by trees.
I love the soft long-sleeved shirt. The medal is a nice size and has a spinner! The race also provided loads of free race photos.
