The Dallas Running Club (“DRC” or “Club”) was created in 1969 as a grassroots running club to build and support the Dallas running community. Tal Morrison was the founder and he started the Club by stopping runners he saw out on White Rock Lake and getting their contact information to invite them to join him for a run. The Dallas Running Club still remains a grassroots running club serving the Dallas running community for over 50 years. The Club offers five club races, of varying distances, and two half marathons a year. The half marathons help fund the Tal Morrison Scholarship Fund. This is a scholarship that was created in honor of the Club’s founder who had a passion for health and fitness. The scholarships provide assistance to graduating students that have an active participation in their school’s cross-country running program.
While DRC’s races may be small but they are full of heart. DRC is a one hundred percent volunteer organization. The Club is a success because of those who choose to give of their time to the Dallas running community. We are happy you are here to join us for a race and hope you consider volunteering.
For five decades, this race has been a celebration of our running home – White Rock Lake – and its beautiful trails. DRC’s The Half benefitting DRC and the Tal Morrison Scholarship Fund.

There were plenty of water stations along the course but not very much people cheering. Well run race. Since the weather wasn’t ideal, there weren’t the normal cyclist/runners out on the trail fussing at the participants for being in their way.

Race is the best of small local race and big race organization. As one of the oldest half in Texas, these organizers have everything down from starting to road closures and support. Their pacers are AMAZING! They don’t start too fast like I have experienced in other races and they are positive, supportive and will get you across the finish time in the time they are pacing!
