I truly appreciate the effort that goes into planning this race Overall. The volunteers throughout the whole race experience from water aid stations, photography, medals been given at finish line and the sponsors all amazing people with big hearts! I appreciate them taking the time to help make this Race as wonderful as they do. 🩷 As a first time runner here with this been the 2nd race I run in my whole life the Overall experience was amazing! It feels amazing to run a beautiful trail in great weather. The opportunity to have the finish line open to family to view us finish is my favorite. My children were able to see me finish and to me that meant the most!! The sign up, check in and results process is easy and fast. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers. 🩷🏃♀️
Would definitely sign up next year

I love this run !!!! I’m legacy and have done the 5K and 10K. This is a fun run for everyone! Awesome swag and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream afterwards is a treat. Well organized and easy to get to start line. Nice pretty course with a lot of green on the 10K course and well marked too! It can get toasty hot during the run so be prepared, especially the last mile not shade. A must race for sure and you can go to Magic Mountain afterwards !!

The Sugar Daddy 10k is completely on bike trails and off the streets. The course runs along the river and is scenic with gently rolling hills. The aid stations are well placed and the volunteers are friendly. All the runners seemed to be happy and having a good time. Luckily the weather wasn’t too hot. For the month of June, this is a perfect event just before Fathers’ Day.

Medals are high quality and well designed. Shirts look awesome. People running this event love what they do and it shows. Thanks to the volunteers out there. If I had one small complaint it’s that the courses were measured just a little short. I ran the 10K and had to run through the finish another .15 mile to make sure my watch got the distance. I know a few Half runners had to do the same thing. Overall though, this is a great little community race and I’ll be back next. year!

The location of this race is near Magic Mountain at the Iron Horse trailhead, the familiar location of where they filmed ‘The Lost Boys’, besides being iconic in the movies, this is a great course it stretches through the beautiful trails of Santa Clarita, the half marathon and 10k runners run through a different route while the 5K runners, run through the bridge and loops back for the perfect photo finish. This is one of those family-friendly race with excellent vendors and decorative race gear. Give it a try and this will be an annual family event for me and my son.

Waking up before sunrise, lacing up my shoes, and stepping onto the starting line of the Sugardaddy Half Marathon—there’s nothing quite like the anticipation of race day. The energy was electric, with runners of all levels gathered to take on the scenic course through Santa Clarita Valley.
From the moment the race began, I could tell this was going to be a great run. The paved paseo trails made for a smooth and fast course, and the mostly flat terrain was perfect for keeping a steady pace. The Iron Horse Bridge crossing was a highlight—there’s something special about running over a historic landmark with the finish line in sight.
The race was well-organized, with plenty of hydration stations and enthusiastic volunteers cheering us on. The support along the way made a huge difference, especially in the later miles when fatigue started creeping in. And let’s talk about the finish—crossing that line and earning the Sugardaddy Race bling felt incredible. The Ben & Jerry’s ice cream at the end? The perfect way to cool down and celebrate the effort.
Overall, the Sugardaddy Half Marathon delivered everything a runner could ask for—a scenic route, great organization, and a fun atmosphere. Whether you’re chasing a PR or just out to enjoy the experience, this race is a fantastic way to kick off Father’s Day weekend. I’ll definitely be back next year!

This was a really fun local race with a cool theme and great swag. My only gripes are both about course control:
1) the course needs to be closed more effectively. Too many pissed-off cyclists were riding like jerks on course. There were a handful of signs I noticed, but not much.
2) when they have segments where runners and walkers will overlap (in this case the last like two miles), there should be signage and/or volunteers directing walkers to stay to the right. It would be a total drag to miss a PR because you had to bob and weave around strollers and such. No hate to them – I just want to make sure everyone gets the most of their experience!
Overall though, I enjoyed this and plan to run again next year.

This race is put on my New Global Adventures, and is held in Santa Clarita, just across the freeway from Magic Mountain.
The race is help on the running/bike trails around the Santa Clara River. It provides a nice, safe route for the race.
The race starts early to try and beat the heat, but for BOPers, the heat can become an issue.
There were 6 aid stations spread out on the course.
The course has some nice scenery along the paths, and there is some shade (but not a lot.)
The medals are nice, and this race features a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to all finishers.
This year there were a lot of last minute entries, and they ran out of finishers medals for the BOPers. They did give us a previous year’s medal, and will mail us this year’s medal when they get more made.
It was a fun race, and a good start to the father’s day weekend.

This was my second Sugar Daddy Half Marathon. I love running on the Paseos. The course is great. The organization is always very well done! I loved the ice cream!
I would suggest you start the Half even earlier to alleviate the heat.
My one complaint would be that a race of this size and EXPENSE should have age group awards! They don’t have to be much, just a little something to recognize the age groupers! (Suggestion – they make peel and stick “engravings” that can be put on medals, only a few cents each. I give them out at my races for age group awards. The engraving could look like this:
2025 Sugar Daddy Half Marathon
M60-64
1st place
Something like that. I would suggest the same for your other races.

Arrive EARLY for parking on the north side of Magic Mountain Pwky, or you’ll start your run early with a mad dash across 6 lanes of traffic. The 5K course is a simple out & back, it’s not flat but it’s ups & downs are minimal, so it’s not really “hilly” either. Watch out for the footbridge at the very start of the race as it can create a lot of congestion. If you’re a SERIOUS runner you’ll either want to line up at the very front of the pack, or wait and give everyone 5-minutes to clear the bridge.

What a magnificent Father’s Day 2024 weekend I had in sunny California! It was a perfect blend of nostalgia, athletic achievement, and outright hilarity. Let me tell you, reconnecting with my high school Brochachos in the California Desert Heat was like stepping into a time machine, only this time, we were less concerned with acne and more focused on avoiding cramps and nipple chafing.
The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the Sugar Daddy 1/2 Marathon. Our team, the Wheezy Racers, came out in full force, with members traveling from as far as Pueblo, Colorado, and Olympia, Washington. When I say ” The Wheezy Racers were everywhere,” I mean it. We were like a swarm of well-intentioned, slightly out-of-shape bees, with some youngsters joing the mix. Our primary strategy? Win the race with the biggest team. I’m happy to report that we nailed it! And by “it,” I mean both the recognition of having the Biggest team , the most fun, and a bunch of free snacks.
The race itself was an epic saga. Picture this: a throng of middle-aged men and women in brightly colored Lycra, wheezing their way through 13.1 miles of California sunshine, where there was absolutely no where to hide from the burning sun. But, oh, the camaraderie! The laughs! The mutual encouragement! There’s nothing like hearing your Team shout, “Wheezy Racer, It’s Time2Grind!” at mile 5 and beyond to keep you going.
After crossing the finish line, with legs feeling like jelly and lungs burning like the California sun, the real celebration began. Winning the race with the biggest team. On our drive back to Archuleta’s house, we proudly celebrated with plenty of stories of the race, what we encountered, how we felt and how we are all looking forward to another Father’s Day adventure next year at the Sugar Daddy Half Marathon.
Here’s to hoping we’re a little faster, a little fitter, and just as fun. Until then, I’ll be practicing and remembering that being a Member of the Wheezy Racers is something special AND Everyday It’s Time2Grind!
Cheers to the Brochachos and the Wheezy Racers – may our miles be swift and our snacks be plentiful! #runsugardaddy #wheezyracers

What I like best about this race is the family feel. The shirt and medal are always awesome, as befitting their Space Rock Trail Race in October, which is a DO NOT MISS race! Having an ice cream truck serving up ice cream for all race finishers is fun and unique.
I loved this year’s shirt with the ice cream cone, the fabric, the colors, and the quality. HOWEVER… this is the third year in a row that I DID NOT get the shirt size that I ordered…XS. The shirts are unisex and run large, so size down. Once again, I have no shirt to wear. I am VERY disappointed, as this happens over and over again in their races.
I have not had this experience in any other races I have done, and I have been racing for 40 years! I cannot understand why this KEEPS being an issue. Simple, order extras in XS. I am annoyed beyond my patience level about this issue, as I have the same problem at both Spacerock and Sugar Daddy. Their shirts are EPIC, and I would love to have the shirt that I ordered.
This issue aside… I would recommend their races to anyone. The race directors are friendly, and work hard to make the races unforgettable. The medals are super cool, the food at the finish line is tasty, the volunteers are great, and you get FREE photos after the event, which I think is AWESOME!! Thank you for this! It makes your races truly special.

Bigger isn’t always better. This race is smaller than most races but size does not make a race great. What makes a race great is what this race offers: amazing organization and communication, awesome people (volunteers & participants), amazing swag (race shirts, medals, awards, legacy gift, yummy post-race goodies including the infamous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck and get this – FREE race photos)! I can’t say enough about this race and the beautiful area where it is held. This was my 210th half marathon so I know a good race when I run it! Trust me when I tell you – run this race and you will not be disappointed! Enough said!
