This event was very well organized. I was impressed by the announcer and all the volunteers that made this event happen. It was a cloudy day so I didn’t see much of the mountain, so the scenery wasn’t the best. I look forward to trying it again next year!

The loop was great there was a sampler portion on the street where it was kinda narrow with cars passing close by, but it truly wasn’t awful. Do the race you won’t regret it.

Well run race, great course, a lot of smooth dirt road, some street, a few yards of technical heads down running, one real hill, great volunteers, beautiful NP, plenty of local lodging. Use of Spark Challenge was a neat way to tour spots in the NP. Vacation Races knows what they are doing and do it well. Like the In n Out of races.

About 50/50 with smooth paved roads and trails. The trails were very gravely in which made running tough in some areas, and I had to weave around many people unfortunately slowing down due to narrowness in a few locations. A couple large gradual uphills made for a challenge, but balanced with downhill roads. The first and last road sections, too, could’ve been a little more wide for passing people. Overall, enjoyable race with beautiful scenery.

Course is full of natural beauty. Nice sampling of road and trail – all the while in mostly forested, shaded surroundings. The hills are not long, but you will need to train if you are a flatlander like me! Vacation Races definitely kept the party going and it felt like a celebration at the finish! Well done. Plan to stay and visit Mt Rainier National Park. It is exceptional this time of year!

This was my 3rd race with Vacation Races. Just like the others this one was amazing. The feeling at Vacation Races is very positive and fun. Everyone is encouraging and uplifting. It felt even more special because it was the first year. The course was beautiful and challenging. There was a mix of road, gravel, and some trail. The hill was challenging, but doable. Plenty of aid stations were offered throughout the race, even in the challenging areas.

You are absolutely surrounded by lush greenery the whole time! Since the trees are so tall, you are shaded for probably 90% of the race, which is a huge plus: no need to worry about becoming overheated! About half of the course is not paved, but I wouldn’t say that it is technical. There is a significant downhill spot on gravel, which could be tricky for some people who are afraid of slipping, but I had no problems. There is a cute little river crossing around mile 6 with a narrow “bridge” that goes across. LOVED this race! And got a personal best!

This was my third national park vacation race. The crew always does a nice job, well organized. The course was nice – only one place you could see Rainier but the course was good and a lot easier than Yellowstone. The almost two mile downhill at the end was amazing. We loved our trip, stayed at a goat farm and had a blast.

I would recommend doing this race if you have the chance. The setting close to the Rainer National Park made it an awesome mini vacation. And you never know when you will spot Big Foot.

I enjoyed the race but there was not enough room at the beginning to pass people safely. The mounds and grass made it very difficult on my ankles was not ready for that. Overall a great beautiful run, but i definitely think the trail needs to be wider especially for the first few miles.

So glad I chose Mt Rainier as my 1st Half Marathon. Superb communication and race updates from VR, packet pick up was stellar, and that course…..what an awesome mix of road and trail. A huge shout out to all the amazing volunteers that kept us both hydrated and motivated! And whomever rocked the Yeti costume, THANK YOU! You had me cracking up at the bridge and then again at mile12 when I was struggling. The uphill finish was a bit much for this old gal, but all is forgiven because the finish at Ashford County Park was epic. Kudos to VR for putting on such an amazing race.

I thoroughly enjoyed this run! Having previously completed the Zion 50K in April, I was familiar with vacation races. That event was well put together and so was this one. There were some decent climbs up through the middle of the course , but it wasn’t the end of the world because I was soaking in all the natural beauty around me. The course was a mix of trail, road, and gravel, which u enjoyed because it mixed things up. The emcee was very upbeat and welcoming to all of the runners coming in. I also met a few people and have new friends now as a result. I’d definitely run this again if it’s offered!
