This event is more than just a half marathon and 5k. It’s a great run for the serious runners, as well as a fun event for the rest of us. There’s even a mini event for the little kids. The support along the course was excellent, and the swag and finish party have been great each year! I highly recommend this one!

The Jackass Half was such a great race! The weekend started with packet pick up at a great local watering hole, we received great swag including a tote bag and a coffee mug. On race day the start line had great energy, free coffee and awesome volunteers. Having the option for a mass start and a rolling start was great and the course was beautiful. The aid stations were well placed and so much FUN! The volunteers were all having a blast and their energy was infectious. At the finish line there was a great atmosphere with food trucks, beers and live music making it a great place to spend the beautiful fall afternoon.

You should 100% sign up to run this race next year. Beautiful scenery and great aid stations (we loved the top gun volleyball players!). We loved that it ended at a brewery and you get a free beer (with custom jackass label!). The tshirts are pretty rad too! Must do race!

This is a fun and fast course, it is net downhill with a hill at the end. Some years you are running in beautiful fall foliage. The race is well organized and supported throughout the community. The high school welding class builds the finisher medals so they are quite unique. There is also a shuttle and bag drop to make all the logistics of getting between the start and finish easy.

I made a new friend on the bus ride over to Wallace, caught up to my group of running buddies around mile 2, ran into an old college friend at mile 7, and was cheered on as I passed a crew of friends doing the 5k at mile 11 all while running along the river under the bright blue October sky. I finished with a PR and a beer in my hand surrounded by smiling friends old and new alike exchanging hugs.

I have mixed feelings about this race. It was overall a fun race, and the scenery was beautiful. I really liked the shirts, and the volunteers at the aid stations, etc. were entertaining… although I have mixed feelings about them offering up Pabst and Fireball to the runners. On the other hand, they need to add more toilets. There were two at the parking lot which were completely full of waste, out of toilet paper, and provided no sinks or hand sanitizer. The race start only had three toilets. I waited in the parking lot for a good 40 minutes to get on a bus. The finish was stressful as too much was crammed into too small of a space and figuring out the shirt situation took some effort. Also, this was the first race I’ve been to where there was no real finisher food…just snacks and beer which I didn’t take. These things really need some attention for improvement. Not sure if I’d go back.

Beautiful course, fantastic organizers, friendly volunteers, perfect weather, fun swag, and completely reasonable registration price! I love the zero-waste approach to the finisher shirts, and the finish-line food and drinks were just right. My only complaint is that darned hill in mile 12, but it won’t keep me away next year!

I will do this race again, they are well prepared, treat you right and the after party is festivities are great. The parking lot has a trolley that will take you to and from the finish line to the parking lot as needed. We went and changed and took the trolley back to the finish line party for food and drinks and socializing.

It’s a beautiful course and a great time of year to race. It’s net downhill with a couple hills in it. There weren’t many spectators, but all who were there were very excited for us and encouraging. It seemed like the whole town showed up for the end of the race in Kellogg, which leaves you feeling connected to the community. It was a great time and I would be very open to doing it again!

If you are looking for a fun PNW race, where you can also test your speed, this is it! This is a true downhill race, moreso than others I have ran. I shaved 3 minutes off my PR that I ran a month prior. It’s pretty scenic, being on a bike path between two small Idaho towns. The race was fantastic and I will definitely participate each year.
