Fantastic start and finish area in a large park near the water. Tubbs hill right next to the park has some great hiking trails with stunning scenery! I really enjoyed this event. Had perfect weather. I found easy parking at the library close by. I’m not sure if that was supposed to be used as event parking. 🤷♂️ Race course was good. No complaints. Only 1054 runners for the Half. Average looking shirt given at bib pickup. Finisher’s medal was good size, decent looking. Nice little downtown area with parks, beaches, shopping and food. And then the beautiful scenery made this event memorable. 👍
Lovely Scenery with Hills and Heat

I ran CDA Marathon so that I could get my Idaho race towards my 50 States quest. There were several 50 staters there and many locals. It is a very small race that is run on bike paths along the Spokane River. CDA is a quaint little town and I had fun exploring the shops. Race day was quite warm by the end and hydration stations are way too far apart. (3 miles) There are large hills in the front half and a continuous incline from 18-21. Medals were nice and t-shirts as well. Post-race food was good too. The Coeur d’Alene half was a wonderful race. Packet pickup was simple and quick. Myself and a couple of friends volunteered at packed pick up as we were traveling from out of state, would be a way to meet the other runners.
The weather was perfect for running, and of course was beautiful along the river. Very scenic and some gentle rolling Hills along the way. Plenty of people cheering you on and the eight stations were plentiful and full of everything you needed.
Afterwards, there was plenty of food and entertainment to be found at the after party.
All in all, a great race that I would definitely recommend!

This race is definitely marketed as a very easy and PR friendly race, but, in my opinion, it’s not. It had some rolling hills for sure, and, even though I have done much hillier races, I wouldn’t characterize this race as a super flat or easy one. There was a steep hill at mile 2 that I decided to walk. Part of the course is pretty for sure, but, honestly, most of it was just okay. BUT I will say that I had the BEST TIME in Couer d’Alene Idaho as someone from the east coast. If you are you looking to cross Idaho off your list to run in then, this is a pretty darn good race to do it. Even though the race itself didn’t blow me away, I still had a great time for that race weekend.
Beauty of Couer d'Alene well displayed

This place is wonderful. Package pick up is at the same park where all events occur. It is central an easy to access. Not much in terms of gear, but Fleet Feet is “almost” across the street with anything you may have forgotten. This is mid size race with about 3000 runners. A full marathon starts 30 minutes before the half. I appreciate that as it helps avoiding bottlenecks in the most narrow areas. I wish more organizers do this.
I did the half so this review is about it. The first 5k are rolling hills on wide roads within the lakeside neighborhood. Then you enter the Centennial Trail bordering the Couer d’Alene Lake for the rest of the race. By then the runners have spread out enough that the paved trail does not feel constrained. This part is fairly flat except for a long gradual climb from about mile 6 until the turnaround near mile 8, when you slowly climb down. It isn’t anything dramatic, but you do notice the effort on the way up and then picking up speed after the turnaround. Therefore, take it easy in the middle part of the race. Don’t worry if you get a little behind in your goal time. Leave gas in the tank for those last 5 miles and you’ll easily catch up with that goal time.
My only negative is that the water station on mile 7/9 was only on one side of the trail. That meant runners going “uphill” had to cross in front of “downhill” runners to get to the water. It was chaotic to say the least. But that is just a brief interruption to what is otherwise a very nice event. I can see this race growing in popularity in the next few years, not only with runners like me, looking to check off Idaho of their 50 states chase, but because the area itself is undergoing tremendous growth.

The half marathon in Coeur d’Alene was an amazing experience! I greatly enjoyed the route (the water views of the lake and river were amazing!) and the friendly atmosphere of the event. The location can’t be beat! There is a lot to see and do in the area around Lake Coeur d’Alene! Regarding the race, I liked the scattered start times for the different events (marathon, half, 10k, 5k). This helps to reduce overcrowding on the course. However, it would have been nice if the finisher medals could have been unique to the race distances. It seems odd that the finishers of the 5k were given the same medal as the finishers of the full marathon. Also, the water stations were fewer and more spread out than most other races that I have run. Additional water stations with more volunteers at each would have made the race better. But overall, this was a great event!

Ran the half marathon. Liked that the race organizers provided an early start option for marathoners. The course was scenic, much of it on the paved N. Idaho Centennial Trail with views of the lake. Half marathon course consisted of two out-and-backs–personally not a big fan of re-tracing my steps, but it was pleasant enough. Would’ve have liked for race organizers to have a lead bike for the race leaders. Why? Parts of the race trail were narrow and slower runners were blocking the return lane for the faster runners. Other runners had to help clear the lanes for the race leaders. The race shirt was a nice long-sleeve, both women and men’s styles–much appreciated. I also opted for the race sweatshirt in a fun school-bus orangey color–hubby says it will be a camping sweatshirt 🙂 . The medal was very pretty with mountains and a little spinning piece on it–different color ribbons depending on which distance you ran. Race was held on Memorial Day Weekend; lots of tourists. Weather was perfect. Couer d’Alene is a spotless, perfect little town. (Heard they even just opened a Trader Joe’s!) We stayed at the Towne Place Suites by Marriott, a short drive from the race expo/start/finish at McEuen Park. This hotel was fantastic–so well-run, clean, breakfast included. McEuen Park is really nice. If you like a nice hike, try the Tubbs Trail nearby for beautiful lake views.

The Coeur d’Alene Marathon (Core Duh Lane) was absolutely unforgettable!
This course is BEAUTIFUL — breathtaking lake views, towering pines, and scenery that makes you stop and appreciate where your feet are carrying you. But make no mistake…this is also a CHALLENGING course with 5 major climbs, including 4 on the front half of the race! Definitely earned every mile of this one.
The volunteers and race staff were truly outstanding from start to finish — encouraging, organized, positive, and so supportive all along the course. The location for packet pickup and the finish line area were both fantastic and made the overall experience even better.
And of course, getting to experience it all with friends made it even more special. The day after, we did a beautiful horse ride on easy trails in Spokane – it was wonderful! Great restaurants and lots of waterfall chasing in the area which we also enjoyed. Marathon weekends are about so much more than the race itself — they’re about the memories, laughter, support, and shared adventure along the way.
Highly recommend this race to anyone looking for a scenic, well-organized, and rewarding marathon experience!

The Coeur d’Alene Half Marathon was such a memorable race weekend. The course scenery was beautiful with lake and mountain views throughout, and the weather this year was absolutely perfect for running — cool at the start and comfortable the entire race.
The crowd support was strong without feeling overwhelming, and volunteers were encouraging and organized at aid stations. Packet pickup and race morning logistics were smooth and stress-free.
Would have loved fave pictures and if the celebration area opened sooner than noon. We didn’t wan to wait over 2 hours to celebrate so we went across the street to this pub over the lake. Easy parking too.

Ran this as state #34. Had a great weekend in CDA – a lot of natural beauty.
Pre-Race: Expo was essentially a packet pickup. No issues, but not much to do. Held at a park where the races start and end, with a few vendors. Pre-race communication was clear.
Race: There were multiple races starting at the same location with the marathon starting at 6:30. It was light enough, it could have started at 6:00. Beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and we were off.
Course is essentially two out and backs. The first out and back was very scenic, although quite hilly. The course profile didn’t do it justice! You come back through the start area at around mile 16 and then head out for the second out and back. That part was not great. A grueling out with a slight grade up and no shade. The turnaround seemed like it would never come. The race finishes back at the park. Overall, I thought the course was one of the tougher ones I’ve done.
The aid stations were short with little bottles of water. The back portion was tough getting in and out of the stations as the marathon and half were both on the same course.
The finish area was festive, with reasonable post race food. There were also post race food trucks (Ice Ice Shavee – Ice truck).
Swag: Long sleeve shirt was ok. Medals are nice, but the same for all distances – the only change is the sash color.
Overall, I had a great weekend here and the race was ok. I think they could increase the aid stations, especially when it gets warm like today, but I understand it’s a small race. I’d recommend for Idaho just based on the scenery. Come for the scenery but don’t expect your fastest times!

Staffed and well stocked and the volunteers couldn’t do more to help you. It was hometown generosity and kindness from everyone. The race directors made themselves available for questions and helped us celebrate our fifty state finisher with the announcers even hugging her after the finish line Photographers at the finish festival let us celebrate our race. The town is cute for a weekend trip as well. It’s a very well organized race.

The route is mostly flat. There is a slight slow incline going uphill around 7 for about a mile, but then you get that nice downhill at mile 8 which is right about the turnaround point.
I highly recommend the race and enjoy a nice weekend in the city boating or hiking or even parasailing!

It’s mostly on the paved trail. I usually drive to check the route before, but I could not do it. I signed up a week before the race and stayed at North Idaho Inn. It was clean, very convenient and reasonably priced. I really liked walking to the start without worrying about parking. It’s a beautiful time of the year, so I recommend it for your destination race.

This was a lovely race on my 50 states journey. First time to Idaho, I stayed at an Airbnb 15 mins walk from the start and finish line which was super convenient, there did seem to be a lot of parking at Mcuen park.
Packet pickup was speedy and was outside at the same park – no packet pickup junk/flyers which is always a plus. Bought a discounted t shirt from last years bin that was cute! Race shirt is nice, it’s like a bright turquoise – a nice break from so many race shirts being navy blue! My only feedback is I wish the packet pickup opened earlier or had Friday hours – coming from the east coast I was awake at 4/5 am and felt like I had to interrupt my day to go get it (and was insanely crowded when I went)
The race itself was a 10/10, stunning scenery, no humidity for those coming from swamp lands – SO nice! Definitely a challenging course with a couple sharp steep hills early on, and then a steady incline for a few miles into the turnaround around mile 8 – but then a descent was so welcomed! Lots of the course was shaded but lots was just under the sun with no covering, so it did get warm – I would def recommend a hat and or sunglasses.
Finish line was fun – lots of snacks – space to chill in the grass, several other race distances finishing around the same time, so there is something for everyone!

This was a well run race from the emails I have received regarding the race. The city is a great place to visit from the public art to the all the green and so many public parks . I run for fun and to explore the city before, during, and after the race. Packet pickup was easy and there were food trucks and music. This might have been for the 5 k but we took our photos with race shirt in front of the signs and did the Tubbs hill. The weather was warm but they had an early start for marathon folks wanted to beat the heat. I would have taken the option if they had it for half marathon, I carry my own water so I could have done 5 miles without race support . There were plenty of port potties throughout the course and since we ran through parks real bathrooms. The Steve started on time . My slower Mile was the first as it started with a hill and since I don’t run a mile before the race my Boby was worried but I was happy to see all the water stations and they had gu and gummies. The marking to turn were perfect as I didn’t have to worry
About getting lost. There were some Spector’s on the race . There was plenty of room on the race so there was no running in and around runners. As I said it was mainly flat- slight upgrade of hills and slight downhill. I
Didn’t see anyone on the course taking pictures which I missed because the course was so pretty. Running in the shade among trees is a runners dream . I really only felt the sun as I came back to the park to finish. There was cold water, pizza and snacks when you finished and plenty of tables to seat with friends and discuss the race. This year they had a special event after the race- a hop dash brew fast – it was a great idea and I enjoyed the beers, ciders, and food they had to eat. I hope they will do this again but they need to have more tables and umbrellas as it was hot . This is a race to do! Fly into Spokane and spend a day there and then come and enjoy the friendly and clean city here. I saw no trash and no trash again – I have never seen that anywhere and would love to know how they did that

Race swag: very basics. Nice long sleeve tech shirt. And a medal. I really like the medal. Also we’re giving away Nathan bib holders. No “bag” it was kind of a few free options (bib holder, snack, etc) . That was about it.
Production: bib pick up was a breeze. The race event my only complaint is that there were a couple areas where there was a bit of a choke point where it was hard to pass people. Lots of port a potties with tp! Always a plus. At the end there was Gatorade, water, oranges, granola bars and other snacks, and pizza. Aid stations were great. Gatorade, water, fruit snacks, and gu, even starting at like mile 2! Paid for parking (not sure if we had to) $2/hour.
Overall very nice run. I like the shirt and medal and scenery. Otherwise no frills. Would do again if in the area!
ID knocked off.

The course is beautiful and not too hard. The volunteers are supportive and cheering us on! Great choices at each of the water stations. The race begins in the morning when it is nice and cool out and it is not too hot by the time we finish. Beautiful natural scenery, beyond that not good. There is next to noone cheering on whole course, nothing at all at finish line besides some banking tents that were flat ot rude to my children because we weren’t from Idaho! And one slice of pizza was all you got at the finish line, which the one volunteer yells on repeat. Nothing else, not sure what my entry fee paid for. Also at the 16ish mile mark you hit the 5 KM course and then you are bundled tightly with these runners for some poor planning reason. So come for the scenery expect nothing else and expect rudness from the few people at the finish line.
