The course is along the Coastal Trail which is beautiful but does limit spectators and water stations. That aside, this is a well-organized event which even provides access to free showers for all participants! This was a lifesaver for me as my hotel could not accommodate late check out and I had to fly out the same day. Do not be surprised to see a bear or two along the way!

Communication could have been better but this is an extremely small race – there were only 18 of us for the half. Many more were registered for the full but still, this is small. The race is all downhill on a gravel path except for a small stretch of pavement, maybe a mile long. It’s steep, which I was not prepared for – challenging to control my speed and watch my feet. The altitude also contributed to the challenge but honestly I can say I enjoyed it – it was beautiful. As they like to say, this definitely ain’t no pansy ass city race.

Yes, it rained. Yes, the water was knee deep in some spots. But even with that, the course support was amazing! Having seen the program of the entertainment on the course, I am a little sad that the rain washed out all of that. And the after party looked to be amazing as well, again, sad to have that all shut down. Once I finish all my 50 states, I may actually circle back and do this race again because it really seem to be so incredibly well organized and so much fun! Expo swag off the charts!

Race was well organized with lots of crowd support and plenty of water stations. Course would through historic Savannah with a lap through the Savannah Bananas baseball field. Savannah is laid out in Squares and the course took us past most of the 14. Beautiful tree-lined streets dripping with Spanish moss made for excellent sun cover. While the food post-race was nothing to brag about, I did enjoy the live music and beer. Would definitely recommend!

Scenic first half through historic Charleston but then the second half disappointed. After party would be great if better organized. I stood on a line having no idea whether or not it was the line I wanted – signage was terrible. I did not check a bag but I heard nightmare stories from others about bag pickup taking over an hour.

This is a small race benefiting a local charity. The course wound through historic Mobile and was scenic and enjoyable- fantastic course support! The medals are hand made by the residents of First Light which is super sweet. Many of the residents were handing out medals at the finish line. The after party consisted of sandwiches, ice cream and beer. I chose this race as part of a back to back with a half in Pensacola. There was an option to get an additional medal for running the back to back – it was a hand made plaque which was really cute and on the back was a picture of the First Light resident who made it.

The course was flat and fast, however for a course that is along the coast, the views just weren’t there. Mercifully, it was on the cool side for most of the race as there is no shade cover. Seemed well organized and the after party had pizza, sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) as well as beer. The medal was cool and I love the v-neck long sleeve shirt! Beautiful area and we stayed at the host hotel so bib pick up could not have been easier. Overall would recommend but wish the views from the course were better.

This was a beautiful seaside course which was primarily flat. The coastal town was charming with its beach themed shops and ice cream parlors.

No real swag to speak of here and no real after party. There were very few on course spectators and unfortunately, in my opinion, not enough water stops. Be sure to bring your own water! The beautiful scenery more than made up for this though and I would recommend this race.

I’d heard good things about this race and I was not disappointed. Beautiful, mostly shady course with frequent water stops and snacks. The course was out and back with rolling hills and some frequent steady inclines. If I had one gripe it would be that you had to pay for beverages other than water. One beer or at least a soda would have gone a long way.

The course was a combination of trail and pavement with the trail portion being the most challenging part. Beautiful winding course through tree covered roadways with rolling hills. Water stops every mile and a half was sufficient spacing but there were NO BATHROOMS ANYWHERE! It’s held in a National Park so maybe there were limitations on where they could place Port-a potty‘s, but there was literally not a single bathroom that I saw on the entire course beyond the start line. There might have been one at one turnaround point but even the volunteer at the water stop there did not know if there was a restroom nearby, so we didn’t venture out to check. Small field so possibility of placing In your age group is very possible even if you are on the slower side like myself.

This was the inaugural run of this race. It is well outside of the city where races normally take place. It was extremely well organized, had plenty of water on the course, including wet sponges which was a major bonus! However, once outside of the parks, there isn’t much to look at and there is no shade to be found. On a hot day this course could be brutal. There was no real swag to speak of, but the after party had beer and an area for kids to play.
