Race was well organized with lots of crowd support and plenty of water stations. Course would through historic Savannah with a lap through the Savannah Bananas baseball field. Savannah is laid out in Squares and the course took us past most of the 14. Beautiful tree-lined streets dripping with Spanish moss made for excellent sun cover. While the food post-race was nothing to brag about, I did enjoy the live music and beer. Would definitely recommend!

This was my redemption run after defecting on RNR Savannah in November 2021 due to unsafe running conditions. The weather was warmer than I typically prefer but it was a GORGEOUS day. I liked that we got bags and water bottles instead of shirts. Medal is sizable and nice. Lots of support on course, everyone was friendly and nice. I’d do this again and highly recommend.

The energy of this race is unmatched. It was my first half ever and I ended up placing first in my age group. The atmosphere is so great, everyone is super encouraging and cheers you on throughout the race. The Gatorade at the water stations was BEAST and I was so thankful. My only complaint is that I didn’t get a tshirt in my race swag. I was really looking forward to getting one and was super disappointed when I got to the Expo and they were selling them for an additional $30. I’m a pretty broke college student and had just enough extra money to sign up for the race and I couldn’t afford a shirt which was sad. They had a band playing as we crossed the finish line which was awesome. They had mimosas and beer waiting for you at the end (if you were 21+). I want to run this race every year because it was SO MUCH FUN.

This is one, if not the best, managed races. No detail is left undone. . The course is beautiful and its FLAT, perfect no matter what your pace is! The swag is also great, not your average race t-shirt that you will put in in a drawer but a great bag that you will use over and over again! ! Free Mimosas and live band at the finish line are a nice finishing touch. Grab your friends and have a girl’s weekend and run this great half marathon/5K!!

Beautiful way to explore Savannah – my excuse to finally visit the city. Great energy at the start line and along the way. Plenty of water stops, portapotties and medical tents along the course. Finishing the race and enjoying a Mimosa seemed the perfect Southern hospitality! Also free mini massages at the end! Upgrading to the VIP tent is worth it – upscale toilets, personal item storage and comfy couches!

I’m trying to do a half in all 50 states so usually I would not want to do a race twice BUT this race is one I definitely want to do again. Race Expo was small but adequate and everyone was very friendly. The race directory got everyone pumped up before the race! The race course is absolutely beautiful with several unique cheering sections (roller derby girls-you rocked). The after party was a very fun atmosphere with people hanging out and not in a hurry to leave. The band was awesome! If you are looking for a race for a girls weekend away, I can’t recommend this one enough. So well organized and plenty of other things to do in Savannah to make the trip fun even for non-running friends.

This was my very first half marathon (prior I’d only ran 5ks) and I was a tad nervous, but this was honestly an A++ experience. First of all you really can’t beat a spring day run through Savannah. The race starts and finishes on Forsyth Park, with the morning sun peeking through the spanish moss – its magic. A spin through around historic downtown city squares add instant charm to early miles, and once the race heads uptown city residents head to their front porches to cheer you on – some even setting up bespoke water and snack stations! The race gave a super nice duffle bag instead of a tee – which was super handy and is my new go to gym bag, and Publix gave a high quality keys/phone running belt bag. The whole route was well marked and managed by hydration stations and energy gel stops, and we even got a surprise whirl through the local Savannah Bananas baseball stadium complete with a marching band performance. The icing on the cake: professional photogs at the end of the course to get that perfect (free/included!) victory shot. 10/10, will run again.

This was only my second race ever…but it exceeded all of my expectations! The race staff was amazing, the race director rocked it out, all of the participants were so supportive, and we had the best time ever at the VIP after party! I would highly recommend this race to everyone, especially paired with the VIP experience. I enjoyed the course, and I look forward to doing this run year after year. Who knows, maybe I can work myself up to doing the half next time!!??

This was my first half marathon and it was a beautiful course to run – I love Savannah!

The expo was small but had some nice sponsors there — I bought 2 ‘13.1 Georgia’ stickers to proudly stick on my water bottles at home — this was my ‘you have to complete this half marathon now, Jacqueline’ motivator.

Finding the race start was easy. Loved the gear check-in area. The race announcer (FITZ!) was amazing – loud, fun, and encouraging! I ran this race with my mom – she runs marathons all the time and this was my first, so it was special for us. I did pretty good up until about 9.5miles and my leg gave out. I had minor hip/knee pain throughout training, so this was expected but not to the level of pain I was feeling — and it ruined the half marathon for me because I had to WALK the rest of the way 🙁 But, I refused to give up and I’m proud to say I ‘completed’ my first half marathon. No, I didn’t run my first half marathon – I completed it, and I’m happy about that!

I will say, there are not enough water stations/aid/port-o-potties after like mile 9/10 which really is a bummer when you’re limping to the end and haven’t gone to the bathroom yet and need to hydrate.

The ending was magical – my mom ran ahead of me so she was there to see me finish and Fitz asked her to say something and she cried and was just so proud of me. I loved that moment. We (I) then hobbled to the post-race party, downed two mimosa drinks and a post-snack and laid on the grass listening to the live band — that was fun!

Last thing, I wish they gave out shirts. The medal was FANTASTIC and beautiful, but as it was my first half marathon, I shirt would’ve been nice. I know they had some at the expo but I wanted one with the DATE on it. The ones at the expo were generic ‘Savannah half marathon’ shirts. But, it’s all good! Congrats to everyone who ‘completed’ this race with me — here’s to next years race! 🙂

The communication leading up to the race was great. The organizers were easy to contact and quick to respond. The expo was limited on booths, but was well organized and I was in and out quickly (free, easy parking). Race morning, I used street parking a little over a half mile away from Forsyth Park and I felt safe walking to the start line. Bathrooms were plentiful but there were no garbage cans to toss our paper towels from the hand washing station.

Race host was motivating, as was seeing all of the Girls on the Run finishers walking to the corral. The only minus on the corral line up was that both the half and the 5k start simultaneously. It’s a lot of people packed in, but my main issue was that people waited until the last minute to get in, which pushed me about 10 people behind the 2:00 pacer (who got in closer to start time than I) when I was trying to aim for a 1:53, so it was a challenge once it was go time to get up where I needed to be.

Aid stations and water stations were plentiful, well stocked and volunteers were great. Course was good, a few areas were not well marked, but I was always following others so I just followed their lead. This was my first time doing this distance at this race, so I was just assuming they knew what they were doing (probably not a great idea, but it worked this time).

My only complaint about the course is there were a few stretches where there was no one and nothing to look at, and I was really disappointed that Greyson Stadium didn’t have more to it (there was a matching band in the stands, but y’all this is the home of the World Famous Savannah Bananas—-who were out of town for their World Tour—so I expected more.

The finish line was great. The free photos were awesome. Medal was great. Post-race snacks, drinks and free beer all great.

I can’t say much about the after party…I had travel baseball to get to. So I walked back to my car easily and with no issues.

The gift was a duffle bag. I know everyone loves these and they are glad it’s not another shirt. I don’t know, I guess I just don’t know how many duffle bags I really need. I have one from 2019…it’s cute and nice but I would have been fine with a quarter zip or something.

Overall, great experience. I didn’t PR but I did finish sub 2 and with the ease of getting to SAV and how smoothly it all went, I’ll definitely run it again.

This race was not overwhelmingly amazing but would do it again if in the area. We did race day packet pickup and that went smoothly. There was beer and a band at the finish. The only negative was there was no shirt. I am planning on making a quilt out of my 50 state race shirts so had this been my first GA race I would have been bummed. However, if you have plenty of race shirts already than it is a positive that they gave out a duffle bag instead. Savannah itself was awesome with tons to do. We walked another 9 miles that afternoon seeing all the sites. Great town to visit!!!
