The Pensacola Beach Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K, a Pensacola Runners Association Event, is one of the premier destination road races in the Southeast and the perfect way to kick off your New Year Resolution. The original half marathon on Pensacola Beach, the event features a half marathon and a “pick your distance” 10K or 5K, meaning participants do not have to decide whether to run the 10K or the 5K until they are out on the course!
Participants will receive awesome, long sleeved, technical, moisture wicking participant shirts. Half Marathon participants will receive a custom PBR pint glass and Half Marathon Finishers will receive a custom, PBR finishers medal!
All three courses are flat and fast. Each course is an out and back starting at Casino Beach Parking lot heading east. Runners will wind through several neighborhoods of quaint beach houses before being spilled out onto Via DeLuna for breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico and the beautiful, undeveloped sand dunes of the Gulf Islands National Seashore (the further your run, the more you get to see!). The courses stay together until the turnaround point associated with the particular race (1.55 miles, 3.1 miles and 6.55 miles for the 5k, 10k and half marathon respectively).

The course was flat and fast, however for a course that is along the coast, the views just weren’t there. Mercifully, it was on the cool side for most of the race as there is no shade cover. Seemed well organized and the after party had pizza, sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) as well as beer. The medal was cool and I love the v-neck long sleeve shirt! Beautiful area and we stayed at the host hotel so bib pick up could not have been easier. Overall would recommend but wish the views from the course were better.

I took this race nice and easy due to the long drive and hydration issues the day before but besides the humidity this was a very pleasant day to run. It was windy which kept the temperature down and it was a nice leisurely run through the community in Pensacola. If you’re looking for a Florida run, this is it. I’d run it again.

I do have to admit that the entire race was great. The difficulty of the course is absolutely amazing, at the difficulty setting of medium. The course was well designed, well marked, and well executed. As always, on the Florida gulf coast, the water is the number one part of scenery along with vibrant colors of big hotel buildings. The productivity is good, except for the fact there was confusion where the results were posted. The race swag was excellent, with nothing else to say. My performance was excellent, except I ate hotel breakfast that just about made my stomach upset after finishing.

It runs through the beach neighborhoods and is very flat. The scenery is pretty and it’s a well populated race without being crowded. The medal is normally a bottle opener and a play off the initials of the race – PBR – Pensacola Beach Run. There is also a Half and 5K.
