Great course with lively music throughout. The start line really gets you pumped up, and the finish line is one massive celebration. Some work is needed on communication leading up to the race and signage at the start and finish. Going into the race there were still a lot of questions and finding answers was tricky.

Note: i’m reviewing the 5K and the half marathon separately. The half marathon was run on Sunday night with the Strip completely shut down! Honestly, who can say that they’ve done a race on a closed down Strip in Las Vegas! It was very cool to see all the casinos lit up, and the Bellagio fountain was at the end of the race, I heard several numbers of participants, but it had to be upwards of 20,000. Just a tremendous amount of people. Our hotel, Park MGM, was right at the start line. It doesn’t get any better than that! We could look down from our window and see the start village, and easily walk around to scope out the area for the race. It took about 40 minutes for our corral to reach the start line,, but I loved the fact that they had porta potties within each corral area so you could literally be in the bathroom line while you’re in your corral. There were plenty of Porta potties, and the aid stations only had water. Nothing else. Which brings me to the end of the race. I was towards the end of the half marathon pack, and when I get done, I got my metal, and I’m glad I didnt turn down the bottle of water, because that was it. If there was food and beverage, anywhere, I did not know about it, and I heard later that they just simply ran out of everything, including bananas. Absolutely nothing but one bottle of water at the finish line. For the price of the race, this is completely unacceptable. All the money goes into the production, shutting down the streets and paying security, and bands (which were a blast). And although the metals were cool in the fact that they glow in the dark, they were not very large metals at all. And on the final note, if you did the 5K on Saturday and the half on Sunday, you got a remix medal. They ran out. So if you did a short race, you obviously finished before the half marathoners and got your remix medal, and then they ran out of medals and are promising to mail them in late April. The only way that they know who did not get them was to go person by person and write down our email address. In my opinion, this particular event has gotten too big. And they’re not putting enough money back into food and beverage. It seems like it’s one big celebration, without anything to celebrate with! I’m glad I participated, but it’ll be my only RnR Vegas, and BB possibly final RnR in general.

This race is different from all other races that I have run due to the fact that it starts in the late afternoon (4:30pm). For those of you who traveled from the eastern half of the US to run this destination race (like I did), this 4:30pm start time will feel like 7:30pm! It is challenging to run 13.1 miles at the “end” of the day; I did not really know what/how/when to eat, nor did I know what I could handle activity-wise during the day prior to the race. Since my husband and I had traveled to Vegas from Ohio, we decided to do some sight-seeing. We walked from our hotel (NY NY Resort) up the strip to the Venetian to ride the gondola. By the time we made it back to our hotel, I realized that I had walked over 5 miles and I still had the half marathon to run that afternoon! It felt like a trade-off: Waste the day “resting”, or enjoy the location and sacrifice the racing aspect of the run.
The race itself had a few positive aspects: The course was flat, and the weather was pleasantly cool. All the other features of the race were less than ideal: First, It was way too crowded, and there were lots of people in the early corrals who were already walking before mile 1. Much of the first several miles were spent manuevering around slower participants. Second, the race expo, the race shirt, and the race medal were not impressive. It was obvious where they shaved quality to save $$. The idea of the course was nice (Vegas Strip under the lights), but the problem is that most seasoned runners will finish within 2 hours, and dusk is just a difficult time to see in general, so vision issues could be possible. Also, the finish chute was incredibly crowded and it took a REALLY long time to get out. Overall, the Rock ‘n Roll Vegas half marathon was not great, but it allowed me to complete my Nevada half, so I am glad it is done. I think it could be a lot more successful if the organizers move this to a morning event.

It’s the Vegas Strip! its a pretty unique experience running such a popular destination (not known for running). I was anxious about running in the dark since its starts at 4:30pm, but with the city lights, it was fine. Got to see the north end of the strip which is off the beaten path a bit. Good party atmosphere throughout. Ive done a few Rock N Roll races and this one didn’t have the live rock band thing – mostly DJs. Very crowded so give yourself plenty of time to position in the corral. It definitely lives up to the hype I’d say so go for a long weekend and enjoy.

LOVED the course for this race! Running down the strip at night was a truly unique experience that I loved!
EXPO was kind of disappointing. There was a lot of extra merchandise for purchase, but it was all lululemon brand, so it was insanely expensive. I found a hoodie I really wanted but it was $150. Nope. There were other vendors and lots of photo ops but not really any give aways. I almost always go home with little trinkets or a few freebies but that was not the case with this expo. Underwhelming.
COURSE was so unique in running down the strip at night. This was the main reason I wanted to run this race, and it didn’t disappoint. Completely flat without a single hill. I was able to find my corral easily. Porta johns at the start were in your corral and you could also use bathrooms in the resorts. There were NOT a lot of them at the start/finish but plenty on course.
AFTER PARTY was disappointing. They gave a small cup of wine and nonalcoholic beer. There are almost 18K participants in this event and the sheer number of people was completely overwhelming. I just wanted to escape at the end.
Good- over all

I just want to start out by saying I’ve done three or four other rock ‘n’ roll events, but pre-Covid. I thoroughly enjoyed them and visiting other cities despite the extremely large size of the races. That being said, the size and scope of the Vegas events are just crazy! The 5K was more manageable, but it was nowhere near the start of the half marathon the next day. Because we didn’t rent a car, we were cabbing it all over the place. First to the expo, then back to the hotel, and then to the 5K and back again.
There was a party Saturday night after the 5K, but the location was not well known, and even the police officers had a hard time directing us to it. Eventually, we just listened for the band and found our way. I think my biggest disappointment with the races was the food and beverage afterwards. We waited a long line to get a bag handed to us that had two little snacks in it. It seemed like no bag was the same, and that maybe was because we were towards the end and the people stuffing the bags just ran out of similar items. There was no beer or snacks at the party site.
Backing up to the expo, it was very well managed, but just know that the whole first room is dedicated to rock and roll merch. And it’s not cheap. Once you get through that room, you realize that there’s an expo behind it that has other merchandise.
The 5K it should be mentioned, is not on the strip. It’s in the downtown section of Las Vegas. It was nice to see this part of town. I will probably not do this race ever again, but it was enjoyable.

I wanted to express my disappointment regarding the organization of the event, especially considering the amount I spent. First, I incurred an additional $50 fee for same-day pickup, which felt unnecessary. After the race, the crowd made it difficult to collect my swag, and I had no clear information about where to find it. This event would greatly benefit from improved organization, such as offering packet mailing instead of charging for same-day pickup. While the course itself was enjoyable and reasonably easy to navigate, it would have been more logical to conclude the race at the starting point. Overall, I appreciated the course but was let down by the organizational challenges.

Considering I’m not a big fan of out-and-backs. I recommend this race because it is the only time you can run down the strip. You can’t even walk straight down the strip because of pedestrian walkways (1000 stairs LOL!). If you are not looking to PR, I recommend waiting until the last corral so that you can run the majority of the race at night. The pre-race has a live DJ. Running past all the lights and seeing the Sphere was the coolest! They have lots of on-course entertainment. The post-race celebration at LIV nightclub was fun, which included a drink.

Medals were nice
Finishing line was exciting but trying to get to the medal tent to pickup 2nd medal for doing both the 5k and marathon was chaos. People were just standing around after the finishing. But with all this said, I will do it again!!

The Rock and roll race series is awesome. I ran the half marathon in Vegas and had a great time. They had plenty of music and lights and even pyrotechnics. There was lots of excitement in this race. Definitely a big race, they said 27,000 people competed. I had a great time and they had the blue men group there to start the race. I am a fan now of the rock and roll racing series and look forward to doing more of their races. The only cons with this race I have is at the end of the race it was definitely crowded and everyone was all kind of stuck together slowly walking down the street until we got past these gates that they used to block off the sidewalks. Which sucked because everyone was all sweaty of course and all sardined together. But other then that the race was extremely entertaining and fun. I would definitely recommend this race to anyone.

This was a bucket list race of mine and I am so glad I did it! I flew in from Delaware (did not rent a car) and stayed on the strip.
– Getting to the expo was easy – I bought a monorail pass for the weekend. The expo was well organized with TONS of photo ops. The only downside about the expo was the lack of merch – Lululemon is a sponsor so the majority of the merch was from lululemon. I personally did not want to spend $60 on a tank top (and don’t support lululemon for other reasons).
– Walk or take the monorail to the start area. I tried to Uber (left the hotel at 2:30) and sat in traffic for an hour before I decided to get out and walk to the start. Traffic was a nightmare (not the race’s fault).
– Rock N Roll goes all out for Vegas. The start area was upbeat but directly in the sun. There is a lot of waiting once you get in your corral so definitely bring sunglasses and wear sunscreen!
– Running down the strip at night is iconic!
– After finishing, it was pretty crowded, but everything was well marked!
– Would I do this race again?? Absolutely! But probably not anytime soon because it is a 5 hour flight (and I have my eyes set on running Rock N Rock San Diego in 2026!)
Fun race.

This was a very well organized race. It’s my first Rock ‘n’ Roll race, so maybe they are all like this, but I appreciated the number of water stations, fuel stations, course marking, entertainment, etc. The only issue I had was the corral loading process was disorganized but that was mostly because the participants were not following the organizer’s directions.
The course is basically just an out and back, but because it’s on the LV strip at night, it’s a fun course. I will say it is challenging to have a race at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after a weekend in Vegas! Some of the casino/resorts got involved with signage during the race, which was fun. Lots of good cheering along the course in the main part of the strip. It dwindled as we ran further north, but still some spectators.
Shout out to the LV police and city. They did a great job blocking all the streets and making the runners feel safe. At pretty much every intersection, the police had parked a city bus or tractor/trailer at the intersection, so there was no way a car could get through onto the course.

This nighttime race was so much fun! It is held in old Las Vegas. Before the race starts, you wait in an area with a live DJ, games, and a bar. There is also a VIP area with sofas. We waited until the last corral because we wanted to run at night. Seeing 3 weddings during the 5k was the coolest! The course is full of lights and mountain views. The finish line at Fremont Street Experience was incredible. The post-race festival was the best with a live DJ set.. We had an “East Coast vs West Coast” dance battle. I can’t say enough great things about this race experience. Plus post-race snack included a protein bar. I’ve run marathons that did not include post-race protein. LOL! I highly recommend this race. It is worth the price.

The race is most interesting due to the strip being closed to cars. That is a sight to see from the raised pedestrian walkways. I have been to Vegas quite a few times, so otherwise, I felt ok with running the strip, but not overwhelmed. This is a great trip for friends to take advantage of the events surrounding the race, like yoga on the strip and after parties. The start was crowded but went smoothly and there was fire! The corral colors were projected on a screen showing who was loading and who was up next. Bag drop had kids taking bags and they were friendly and adorable. You start while it’s light, so by the time my corral got to the start, the faster runners were coming back to run down the strip…lol! I thought it was fairly quiet after the start. People did not seem to be paying much attention, plus it was Sunday. There were some spectators but not like I expected for Vegas. I loved the large lighted showgirls, but otherwise, I didn’t feel like there was a lot going on. There were bands along the way that were good, enough water and electrolytes, volunteers were great. Personally, unless this is your 50 states run, the 10k would be enough. It includes running toward old Vegas, turning around, running back toward the start, then eventually turning back around toward the finish after splitting with the half. The half continues down the strip before turning back. The best thing on that part was being on the big screen and taking a selfie, which I messed up so it didn’t come out but it was still fun and different. The finish was nice and there were plenty of snacks. The glow in the dark medal is cool. The race shirt was ok, but I purchased a shirt that had all the runners names on them, which had to be placed on two shirts by your last name due to so many people. The expo was crowded but not too bad. The Lulu Lemon stuff was nice, but I could not justify the cost. It was an experience race and I really enjoyed my dad meeting me at the top turn around and then at the finish. It’s a nice, organized event and there is lots of e-mail communication and the monorail makes getting around the strip very easy. I did not stay in a race hotel. I stayed on the Westgate end because I had stayed at the Hilton before and loved it. Do this race with friends or family and I think you will really enjoy it.
