while I can’t blame Ironman for the wind that was over 20 mph, I can for the logistical nightmare it was. Transition was over a mile away from everything. From swim out to T1 was insane! over a mile run barefoot up to the stadium, then repeat the run to get out of T2. They need to find a better place for bike rack and T1 and T2

This is a small race. I was hoping you got to run more by the water as the map appeared, but you don’t. It’s a path run that goes through industrial sections and behind buildings. Small up and down sections but not a race I’d do again.

This race is not in Yosemite. This is also some trail but mostly road running. There are several uphill sections and the last 3 miles are rolling to the finish line. The packet pick-up was a disaster. We waited in line over 2.5hrs to get our packet. The finish line food boxes weren’t that delicious. I would have like an option for a food truck for purchase or something. It’s an early morning and early start which I liked. I probably wouldn’t do that race again as it’s not actually in Yosemite.

I thought this race was going to be beautiful because Seattle is such an amazing city. However I was greatly disappointed. You run on a freeway for a large portion of the race. then on a run path with no views of the city or water very industrial. One water stop had no water so I ran the last 7 miles without water. Disappointing to say the least. Unless they change the course I won’t do again.

This course is very beautiful, but challenging. The altitude is another aspect that difficult if you are not use to it. The hills are non stop rolling, false flats, and short punchy climbs. The road is closed to traffic while in the park so it is very quite and scenic. There is a chance to see a bear and some runners did run with bear spray. The race starts very late at 9am for the marathon. So I found that to be difficult to plan nutrition. But all in all a tough but great race.

Doing Ironman Texas you just never know what you’ll get. We’ve had an unusually cool spring and training has been great. BUT it warmed up quickly this year on the bike and run course. It’s my favorite run course with so much support, but doing an Ironman is always a long tough day!

While this course does sell itself as a “downhill” be prepared to climb! The last 4 miles to the finish line is all uphill. I also didn’t find the views to be that great during the race. There are a few areas of beautiful views of the mountains but the majority of the race is run thru industrial areas and a running trail. The view at the finish line of the water is beautiful, and the beer garden is a fun zone!

Running a hundred miles is hard, but if you are doing your first ultra race this is the course for you. The support from the member of the TROT team are great and the other runners are just as amazing. The course was a tad muddy due to rain but still nice to run on. Yes the course is mostly flat with some false flats and rocks. The trails are nicely covered and I did spot an alligator!

This is my second time going to Ironman Maryland. The first time I was there the race was cancelled, thus I wanted to go back and try this course. The town is lovely and the people are warm and welcoming. The swim had jelly fish, and yes I got stung during the race. The bike was super windy but the roads are nice a smooth. The run was not my favorite, since it was very quiet in the back. However, overall a fantastic day and the day was hot and humid but lovely!

I am not sure I would do this 5k again. The start line was not organized. I was in Corral A but it was not patrolled thus it caused traffic jams. Runners with dogs and strollers make for lots of moving around. Weather was great ! Hopefully will get more organized in years to come.

I’ve done this 70.3 several years in a row and always learn something new. Some years the swim is choppy. Some years its like glass. Some years the wind on the bike is crazy but there is always wind on the bike! The is hot and tough but since it’s close to home most of my team is either racing or there cheering! This makes this race fun and one I’ll do again. If its your first 70.3 I would highly recommend it. The course is flat!

This has been a bucket list race and it was so much fun. Realize 1) its an expensive weekend at Disney World 2) you’re not going to PR 3) you’re getting up super early. We had to board the bus to take us to race start at 3am! They do this race prior to the park being open thus the early start. Honestly you don’t run much in the park… most of the run is done on the grounds of the park and hotels near by. you only run in the park for less than 1 mile when you go thru the castle. That was disappointing! Not sure I’d go back but I did enjoy while I was there.

This 70.3 was without a doubt one of the hardest races I’ve ever done. The bike course was not only hilly but the road were crap! Also at the bottom of a hill would some times be a cattle guard. Now imagine go over that at 30 + mph on a bike! The run was equally difficult. I don’t think the Toughman race company still has a race in New Mexico and I understand why. I wouldn’t go back to that race. It was also very unorganized. However loved New Mexico!
