Swim in Preston Links, cycle through the Lothians, and sprint to the finish line in Edinburgh’s spectacular Holyrood Park.
Dating back thousands of years and home to many iconic historic sites including the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh is one of the world’s most beautiful and compelling cities. The city provides a fantastic setting and destination for thousands of athletes and their supporters, as well as providing extremely easy access. Edinburgh is served directly by multiple airlines from over 100 destinations, as well as direct train lines from London and cities across the UK and Scotland.
The 1.2 mile swim will commence at Preston Links. Athletes will then head eastwards from Cockenzie on a 56 mile one loop bike course, heading inland through rolling arable farmland via Haddington, Pencaitland and onto East Saltoun. From here an out and back undulating loop incorporates the historic and beautiful estate village of Gifford, a key spectator hot spot, which entails the most technical part of the course on a route that hugs the hills of the Lammermuirs.
The run is a three lap course within Holyrood Park, mainly on tarmac but with some trail running to circuit the race village and finish line.

Wow! This course was tough as hell! The water was in the 50s, the bike had over 3200 feet of climbing and the run had over 2000 feet of climbing. The views were fantastic but the bike course was very difficult. It was however, a great experience and a race I’ll always remember.
