If you are looking for a great race, then this is your race. It may be a small race but the support and feeling safe makes it top notch. There are water stops every mle after mile 2/ Besides, the water stops, there is no time limit on this race. This race is very scenic. YOu get to run up and down a mountain, run on a golf course, across two states, across a swinging bridge.

First of all, I would like to say Thank you to the race organization for a free race entry. I really enjoyed everything about this course and marathon. I especially liked that even though the 1/2 marathon and marathon started at the same place it was nice that the marathon and 1/2 corals were separate and we basically never saw he 1/2 marathon runners. The only this that I would change is to get a different post race beer besides Heineken and different post race food besides potato taco’s but no complaints. Great Race and Great Pacers.

This is the second year running the Hangover Half Series (5K/5K/13.1) . I really enjoy these races to help kickoff my year. I know that this is a family event and they have the beer running the day before, but I wish that they would have some kind of alcohol after the 1/2 marathon.

This is the second race of the Hangover Half Series (5K/5K/13.1). I like this 5k because you start at 11:45 pm right before midnight. About halfway through, you can hear and see the fireworks for midnight. The hardest part about this race is to get your body ready for bed after you are all hyped up after the race.

This is the first race of the Hangover Half Series (5K/5K/13.1). I did this course last year so I knew what to expect. The weather was worse this year but still not too bad for December 31st. I managed to place 3rd in my age group and tied my 5k PR so this is a fairly flat and fast course.

It was a great cold race.

however….some of the things that I don’t like are:
-I wish they would have same day race pickup. ( I live 2 hours away from St. louis and I try not to get a hotel room and just come up that day)
-They need to have more CHOCOLATE. All you get at the end is a little cup of hot chocolate, mini bag of pretzels, 1 marshmallow, a mini banana, and some fondu.

I really enjoy this race since I have participated in it the past 4 years; however, this year race management decided not to have chip timing instead, they kept the times the old fashion way by pen and paper. This provided inaccuracy and was very hard to properly keep track of times. I will be doing it next year since it is a local race.

This was a new race this year that the proceeds with to the VA for veteran’s. I placed in my age group so I thought I was going to get something for that but they didn’t have awards. What I really liked was that the local Boy Scouts came out and manned the water stop and also held their hands out for high-fives at the end.

I didn’t know a whole lot about the Des Moines Marathon going into it.

Pros:
-Instead of a shirt, we got a jacket
-The 4:25 pacer was really great, he actually finished at 4:24 and had a plan on how he was going to run.
-for a smaller race, the fan support was great
-Decent after party

Cons:
-I wish they had more speakers in the corals so that we could hear the announcements in the back
-Also, (it wasn’t the fault if the race) the lady who was brought in to sing forgot the National Anthem.

Chicago is always my favorite marathon to run because of the hype of it being a major and having over 45k runners.

This year’s course was a little hillier than last year and in my opinion the weather was better. 2017 weather was 85 degree and sunny and 2018 weather was about 55-60 degrees and a little rain and wind.

The crowd was great, as well as, the water stops about every 1.5-2 miles.

This was a great race around Creve Coeur lake in a suburb of St. Louis. The half marathon course starts at the lake and goes to the Missouri River and then down to the Katy trail and then back. It is pretty flat except going from the Katy Trail back up to the bridge to cross the Missouri River. The volunteers were great. Swag-wise, you get a Tshirt, cookies (That were amazing), free beer, a pint glass (Would be better if they would put the beer in the pint glass), and a medal. The only negative is that I wish they would start the 7K either earlier or later than the half marathon so that when the transition comes, you don’t have to get behind those that are turning.

The half marathon course is flat for the first half of the half marathon and hilly for the second half. The police presence was great as they were cheering you on as they stopped traffic. It could use more water stops as they are about every 2 miles.

This race provided me with a new personal best in the half marathon. I thought it was pretty flat, with 1 hill bit it wasnt too bad. I enjoyed the trail part of the run due to not being on the pavement. After the race, free beer, pretzel bagel(was the best), breakfast burritos, and pastries.

This is a low production mud run but they also make it a race. The running part is very hilly. Some of the obstacles could be better but with the costs that you pay it is not that bad. The end, they have pizza and beer at a local pizza restaurant.

Great Race. It was downhill for the first part, then flat on the Katy trail, the last 1/2 mile was pretty much straight uphill. I enjoyed it because it was a challenge. The only bad part is that in 2018 the race will be moved to another site.
