Beautiful downhill course with a beer garden waiting at the finish line. A start with small waves means you’re not tripping over each other. The shuttle to the start is smoothly run and I appreciate the gear check and extra port-a-potties once you get to the start line. A race I always look forward to!

This is a beautiful route on a well maintained trail down the mountain. It is a fast course for the first 10 miles, but the last 2 miles feel tough because they flatten out more than the earlier miles.
As a first race, this was a nice one to do as it definitely felt well-organized. I did not feel crowd pressure even though it was a huge field of contestants since there were release waves for the start. The aid stations were well placed on the race and right where they were promised. It was smooth sailing and I appreciate that.
I will probably return to run this again!

This was my first ever Half Marathon; however, not my first Orca run. This was an amazing experience for a first time Half! Plenty of restrooms at the parking/ finish line, smooth shuttles to the start, didn’t do gear check so no comment there, beautiful course (essentially flat/ downhill, loose gravel trail with amazing scenery.), Only 1 restroom on course at about the 5.5 mile mark, plenty of hydration stations, first aid monitors on course riding back and forth the whole time, finish line completely set up and prepared for ALL racers (including me who was almost the last one!!). Still plenty of food and beverage, entertainment, etc when I got there. I will definitely ne doing this one again!!!

All dad jokes aside, this was a pretty great race not my fastest. But that’s not what it’s about anymore for me. It has a nice staggered start to adjust for aid stations and finish lines. Which is a great idea. It’s lovely and downhill, just ask my quads how they’re feeling today. Refreshingly sore. Orca running puts on a good show. You can tell they like doing this. My favorite part where the red vines and tofu dogs at the finish. The medal is quite pretty. And Orca Running gives out extra metals for participants from multiple races throughout the year. Which is also pretty cool. Packet pick up is a breeze, two locations on two different days which make it easy for options. And it’s no stress to pick up a friend bib. I think this is my new end of summer race. Five stars will (maybe) run again.

It’s a really easy course, with great scenery. Although it’s not as big as some other races with fewer volunteers, it never felt like it slowed me down or I had to wait for long at any point in the process (packet pickup, start line, water stations, gear check, etc). Everything was super smooth.

An amazingly fast course through the beautiful forest surrounding North Bend. The course was 90% downhill and the terrain was alright—mostly gravel with a few asphalt sections. Despite the “narrow” trail, there was plenty of room to pass other runners.

The post-run snacks were amazing! Very friendly volunteers and participants. I would highly recommending registering for a PR and great race!

Running a half-marathon on a course that is almost entirely downhill is super fun! Orca Running does a fantastic job of organizing: great communications, easy shuttles, friendly volunteers, good refreshments. Their medals are works of art. I loved this event! My only suggestion for improvement for them is to source women’s shirts that are true to size.

If you have bad ankles (not naughty, just floppy), you should know the trail is varied in texture. Parts of it have larger-sized gravel, there are some divots here and there, and some uneven ground–i.e. it is a trail run, not a road race.

I thought I was through with half-marathon-ing, but this event has me reconsidering that decision.
