My wife and I completed the Hangover Half Series together, which contains 2 5Ks & a Half Marathon. Whenever we signed up, the price for these 3 races, along with the swag & medals, are well worth the price, especially when that price is cheaper than most major Half Marathon or Full Marathon races. With signing up, we got a baseball/3 quarter sleeve length shirt, a beanie cap, tech gloves, and either a 1/4 zip pullover or a long sleeve hooded shirt if you sign up for the series.
This race starts at 11:45pm on New Years Eve & the starting line is less than a block away from the suggested hotel they recommend. Pre & Post Race are inside again, which was great because the temperature dropped a lot since the first race, so being able to stay inside until it was time to start was very helpful. I strongly recommend wearing night time or reflective gear and bringing some kind of flash light because most of the race course is not we lit. The race course was a down and back & takes you along the walk/bike path along the river, which in some areas your limited on lighting so it can be scary if your a back of the pack runner. The city was shooting off fireworks all around us so if you are wanting to watch some fireworks during this race, you have to really pay attention.
Post race had our medals, cookies, and different ciders to drink. If you placed in your age group, you got a wine or champagne glass with the race logo on it. Would definitely recommend this race on its own or as part of the series, just be sure to pack for a cold, night time race.

My husband and I completed this race series together. We did the Hangover Series (both 5ks and the half marathon). I’m talking about them together first because why would you NOT do the whole series?! LOL! We got to packet pick up on New Year’s Eve around 4pm for the 5pm race. They had 2 different options for hoodies for the Series. We got 2 of the last 3 or 4. I don’t know if this happens every year or not. The swag was AMAZING!!! For each race, we got a race specific 3/4 sleeve raglan (baseball) type shirt. They are all white with different color sleeves. My clumsy self hates wearing white, but these shirts are great! We got the hoodie for completing the series—we opted for the quarter zip that was a bit heavier material, but there was a hoodie that was t-shirt like material. It was nice to have the option. We also got a REALLY nice beanie with a leather race logo and race logo tech gloves. Since we were over 21, we also got plastic beer steins.

This race started on NYE at 11:45. Pre and post race were both inside again. It was much colder for this race, so that was much appreciated. I did not think through the fact that this race was going to be dark. My husband had his night gear (flashing light running gear). I wish I would have thought of that or had glow sticks or something. I am VERY slow, and I am glad my husband and I had already planned on doing this together. It was very dark in some areas with almost no one else around, so it would have been scary by myself. The course was mostly lit. Most of the course was along the river, which was beautiful. We had to pay attention to when midnight hit since we were on the course. Fireworks were going off everywhere, but we could not see all of them. That was really annoying! We could hear them but not see them. Nothing the race can do about that though. There were not any water stops on the course. Post race, there were cookies and cider. The medals were, again, the race logo. Very nice! This was an amazing way to bring in the new year! If we do this race again, I will bring lights and pack for colder weather than predicted. Same for the whole series.

This is the second race of the Hangover Half Series (5K/5K/13.1). I like this 5k because you start at 11:45 pm right before midnight. About halfway through, you can hear and see the fireworks for midnight. The hardest part about this race is to get your body ready for bed after you are all hyped up after the race.

This is race #2 of the Hangover Half Series. This race starts at 11:45 pm and goes into the New Year. In 2017, I believe this race was 2 degrees, but the director was smart and had a place for us to stay inside until the start of the race. it starts at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame
