The course was nice with good scenery and the swag was very nice. The bad parts were that there were long lines at packet pick up, not enough bathrooms at the start or water stops and more long lines for after race food. For the cost of the race, I don’t think I would do it again.

Do not participate in this event or any event by USA Endurance Events! This is one of the most poorly managed events I have ever participated in. I volunteered to provide them with a service, pacing, for the Palm Desert event in November 2019. First, they cancelled us shortly before the event because they didn’t plan well and decided they didn’t want to comp pacers entries, when some of us had already purchased airfare out of our own pockets to come help. 3 emails to them before they OFFERED ANYTHING to me, no apology, no thank you. Took a discounted entry that was finally offered after numerous attempts. Then, they changed their minds a couple weeks before the race and decided they wanted pacers for the event. Volunteered to help them again after they SAID they would REFUND my entry fee. To date, WEEKS after the event, they STILL HAVE NOT REFUNDED MY MONEY. Sent them numerous emails which they haven’t responded to and spoke to them at the expo, which they blew me off. So basically they charged me to provide THEM with a service- still no apology, no thank you for helping us, no refund. Very poor business ethics and poor treatment of those who volunteered to help. UPDATE: Apparently they weren’t too busy to contact the pacer organizer and send them a letter (of course they didn’t have enough decency to include me on this email) basically stating how I am such a “thorn in their side,” and how dare I email them about my refund WHICH THEY OWE ME FOR A PROBLEM THEY CREATED, I assume this was an attempt to have me removed from the pacing group; mind you again, none of this was my fault and, I don’t know, I would think any person would continue to ask about a refund they are owed especially if they are getting no response. The race director complained that I left them a negative review on social media (after waiting a long time and several emails to them, for them to just refund me), which I offered to take down if they finally just issued the refund that they owed me. To this date, they removed ALL of their social media pages in order to hide the negative review and STILL have not refunded me.

Positives: fast course, awesome swag (great shirt, bag, towel, Tiffany necklace) Negatives: Boring scenery, poor signage, understaffed everywhere!! – Ran out of fuel (not acceptable or safe for runners), no food (banana, electrolytes) at the finish unless you went into the really long buffet line. Lots of mistakes in the planning of this race. One and done for me.

It seems like a ton of time and effort was put into the great swag (necklace, shirt, bag, towel, etc), but important race aspects were missing. Almost every water station had a line. Volunteers were frantically trying to fill water cups using one big container. There was NO water at the Finish Line. I stood in line for 30 minutes to show my wrist band in order to receive my necklace, and then another line where there was ONE person there with scissors to cut off the wrist band of all the runners. By this time, we still have not received food or water. Once I walked to the food tents, the lines were so long that I gave up and drove back to my hotel.

The course was absolutely beautiful and the swag could not have been better. Even the age group awards were amazing. I know A LOT of people were disappointed with their experience but you have to cut them some slack; inaugural races are always going to be rough. It is my understanding that the back of the packers and full marathon runners enountered a lot of problems that I did not so I can’t speak to that. My experience was mostly positive. Parking and packet pickup was confusing without adequate signage or volunteers to direct people but once I found it the line at bib pickup was short and quick. Race started on time which I LOVE. All of the police and volunteers were kind and helpful. The finish area was pretty confusing, would’ve been helpful to have signs at the finish line directing people where everything was (food, medical, results, etc) so people weren’t wandering around. Awards weren’t ready for the half until about 10:40 (race started at 7:15) but I didn’t mind because I was with a lot of friends enjoying the festivities. My biggest issue was figuring out how on earth to find my car because the start and finish were different and I had no point of reference. Again, more signs would’ve been helpful. All that being said I’ll likely give it another go next year (if I can afford it).
