The Silver Moon Race is where runners of all levels come to chase big goals and have an unforgettable adventure chasing miles under the full moon and stars. Timed on the weekend closest to the full moon, the race begins at sunset and carries you through a night lit by moonlight and stars into the sunrise on the horizon. It’s a uniquely magical experience that keeps runners coming back year after year.

The 2.5‑mile lap course is fast, flat, and built for breakthroughs—perfect for boosting your endurance, stacking miles, and chasing personal records. Every loop gives you the chance to push a little farther while soaking in views and that addictive sense of momentum.
You’ll run through orchards, vineyards, oak canopies, and along the majestic Kings River, creating one of the most scenic and peaceful lap experiences you’ll ever find. It’s the kind of course that keeps you energized, inspired, and excited to head out for the next lap.
Sunset to Sunrise: Starting at 6:00 PM before the sunset gives runners a few hours of daylight to get familiar with the course, then running through the night to the sunrise and into the day.
Full Moon: The race takes place on a weekend closest to the full moon, running under the vibrant glow of the moon and stars plus sections of the course will be decorated with lights, light arches, and fun surprises.

The wonderful thing is, you can run, walk, eat, sleep and dance to the music. I highly recommend this race. Yes, I’ll do this race again until I hit 100 miles.

The race was set up very nice. Had an amazing time. I tried to Run 100 miles and fell short. As a first timer never even tried to run that far in my life. I did the math and set up my splits to hit 90 miles in 24hrs. If you hit 85 miles in 24hrs you can add a 6hr extension to try and hit 100 miles and get that belt buckle! I was on track until mile 30. It got very cold and IT Band issues faired up. Rested and warmed up changed pants and was able to get going again and get my new revised goal of 50 miles. After hitting that goal, I called it. What a great time. Met many great people and will be back next year! I want that Buckle!

The vibe and support from the directors, volunteers, and spectators was ongoing throughout the 6 hours i was out on the course.
I loved the support from other runners whether I was passing or being passed. Each runner was running their own race, so while we were competitive with ourselves and hitting our pace or distance goals, we were supportive all around with our competitors.
The course is basically a figure 8 loop for 2.5 miles, which means you have the aid station, bathrooms, hydration, fire pit, first aid within half mile of you at all times and you cross past every 1.25 miles. This is in addition to your own tent station on the course.
You’ll be cheered on well, up to midnight, and then it starts to quiet down on the course, but by then you are greeted to a beautiful moon and star display. Pop in some music, podcast, or audio book and it’s almost like you are in the woods for a short time.
Great food and drink options at the aid station and upbeat volunteers.

This was a great race! I’ve never done a race for a certain about of time before, and this was a great way to dip my toes in. Having the loops set up the way they are allowed me to know how I was doing and have access to everything I needed every mile or so. The aid station was amazing, with food and drinks being offered throughout the race, with a large variety to chose from. The scenery was through grove trees, which wasn’t the prettiest race I’ve ever run, but most of my run was in the dark anyway. Being a trail runner, I prefer some elevation, but the flat was nice for a faster pace! The medals and awards are amazing the shirts were gorgeous and unique! I’d do this race again!

Race director, and all the support staff were amazing and very welcoming, especially to us first timers when we had tons of questions they had all the answers. Great race vibes, great race directors, great aid station, great photographers. Everyone was very encouraging.
The location is beautiful and unique. You won’t get different scenery beyond the loops but what you will get is awesome people encouraging you most steps of the way.
Plus if you’re doing 100 miles, you WILL get 40 opportunities to see something you might’ve missed on a previous lap. Also running along vineyards under a full moon is pretty epic.
If you’re a buckle collector this is a great one to add to your list, If you’re a first timer, it’s also a great one to add as there is a lot of support.
The swag is also some of the best I’ve seen out there for the races I’ve run.

Incredibly taxing race on the body. First attempt at 100 miles. Enjoyed the scenery of the Kings River course, great views and the set up by the crew was above and beyond. Part of the trail was a bit off camber which made it difficult and the restrooms could be spaced out through the course instead of one location. All things said I didn’t complete the 100 miles and stepped down to the 12 hour run finishing 50 miles. Will be back next year to finish the 100 miles. Thank you Silver Moon team.

I have exceeded running goals that I never thought I could, and the experience of having my mom and son join me by participating this year made it the best experience ever. Terry and Jenny are such kind, caring and encouraging organizers, and have created a unique family friendly event that is truly treasured by myself and running group friends!
