I have run this race 6X. It is actually one of my favorite races: festive, fun, great vibes and course. But their parking situation is a COMPLETE AND UTTER SH** SHOW and I refuse to ever do this race again until they get their act together and figure it out.
You would think that being able to park in a parking lot at a BASEBALL PARK would make things easy (plenty of parking, lots of entrances, etc.) but no. For the second time since I have done the race, the parking was a total fiasco. The first time it happened, in 2014, it took me 30 minutes to get out of the lot. Lines and lines of cars, no one directing traffic. I decided to give the race a chance again thinking 2014 was a one-off. Nope, 2024 was even worse, OVER AN HOUR TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I watched runners who should be happy and high on endorphins swear and honk at each other, on the tip of road rage, and witnessed a near accident when one person decided they didn’t want to wait in line tear through the parking lot and cut off the rest of us.
I have emailed the race directors as well as commented on their Facebook posts, asking them how (or whether) they plan to address the parking lot fiasco, and zero response.
I love this race but WILL NOT DO AGAIN until they FIGURE THIS OUT!!! AVOID!!!!!
Great race, BUT!!!!

Loved this race! Everyone was super festive and high energy, the course took us through Old Sac after crossing the iconic Tower Bridge, then along the river and through Land Park and the Fab 40s before passing the Capitol and ending back in West Sac at the baseball stadium’s home plate. Lots of great scenery, amazing volunteers, a beautiful finishers medal, and plenty of food post-race. I will definitely be running this one again.
Such a fun race, cool way to see Sac!

If you train with Fleet Feet you get a sick area to warm up and roll out after.
The race itself is mostly very mellow- some rolling hills, neighborhood areas, and a few not great areas but those pass quick.
Great number of runners to do this with and course support is good.

This race was a lot fun. There was nice expo held inside the ballpark. The race was well run. I liked how the 5k started first and there was about a 40 minute break before the 10k started. The 10k did 2 laps of the 3k course. Finishing in the ballpark was a nice ending.
Better than I expected.

I was concerned because of the amount of participants that it would be very crowded, similar to the city’s Feed the Hungry run, but that was not the case. I think it be a great course to PR with proper training. It was a fun run with the bands and the different groups that cheered runners on. I plan to do again next year. Plenty of free almonds!
Will definitely run this again

The race starts just outside Raley Field, goes over the Tower Bridge(twice), and a long stretch south along the Sacramento River, ending near William Land Park before heading back north through the city and ending up inside Raley Field.(The course is very similar to that of the Urban Cow Half, except in the reverse order.)
I gave the course a difficulty of 3. If you practice on hills, it would be a 2 (or possibly a 1.) Going through old Sacramento, part of the road is cobblestone, which was a little annoying (but fortunately it was less than half a mile.)
I really liked the shirt and the medal. However, it wasn’t clear where you were supposed to go to pick up your free burrito and the race goodies (a bag of Doritos and a bag of Blue Diamond almonds.) I also appreciated the free beer; I suppose a higher quality beer than Budweiser would be too much to ask for 🙂

In a nutshell, this has been one of my favorite venues since I started my running quest 4 years ago. This race begins at Raleys Field (AAA Giants Baseball Team, River Cats) and ends on the 3rd base side of the Field. This course is well marked and have plenty of voluteers to guide us. The long sleeve tech shirt was a plus, usually it’s been short sleeve. The Finishers medal is awesome….

The event was fun and like a party from packet pick-up, pre-race, race and post -race. The route this year was different because of local flooding. It was fun and easy, however most of it was the same route I have ran for the Urban Cow. I’d like to do this race again and hope they are able to have the route go back to running around the capital.

This is my second year at running this course and this year they had to change it due to the flooding at Discovery Park. This course had a couple of tight turns (pinch points) overall it was awesome due to the loop and watching the Elites run past me, priceless!! Already looking forward to my third run in 2017

This race can have great weather one year and raining the next, but that doesn’t stop the fun with this race. I love the setting at the ballpark and racing through downtown Sacramento. As the race continues to run through the trails along the river the scenery is so pretty you hate for it to end but you race right to the finish line at home plate at the River Cats stadium. Fun Fun!

Trying not to bias the review because I mentally gave up at mile 10. This race was very hyped as the biggest half marathon in Sacramento. I did like that it was at Raley Field to start, volunteers friendly, V-neck mesh tech shirts for women, nice medal and finish area with beer (very Irish).
