Kick off your race season at historic Fort De Soto Park with a 15K, 10K, or 5K – a distance for every runner and walker. As the sun rises, the start is underway! And when you finish then celebrate your effort and the start of Tampa Bay’s running season with good food, great craft beer, and awesome music. Florida Road Races, “Where Running and Fun Meet”!
Fort De Soto Park has been named “America’s Top Beach” by TripAdvisor several times over the years. Citing a “spectacular combination of soft white sand, calm, clear water and a laid-back atmosphere,” the popular online travel network put the park’s North Beach at the top of its annual best-of list, based on TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index.
All courses start at North Beach and are pure out-and-back tours, located entirely in Ft. De Soto Park and run on paved trails and access roads. You will NOT be running on the sand. These are extremely flat and fast courses with no bridges, overpasses, or discernible inclines. They are accurately measured and will be certified by the USATF.
All finishers earn unique, Starfish gold medals. In all races, awards are up for grabs for M/F Open, Masters (40+) and Grand Masters (50+), three deep; age group awards offered three deep in 5 year increments.
Walkers are welcome to join these races. Course support is based on a 17 minute pace. Due to our staging of this race entirely within a park and primarily on nature trails, we will NOT be offering an early walker’s start. All athletes will start at the same time in their respective races.

Nice event, good timing well marked
Great event but only 1st Place awards rather than 1st thru 3rd, which is cheap. Nice tank top and very nice "Finisher Medal". Water stations throughout. MORE

Florida Road Races really knows how to put one on. They are timely (which is always appreciated), organized, responsive, and respectful (especially during COVID times). The races courses are nice and spread out. In my experience, the runners are all very respectful and make room for faster/slower participants. Overall they are worth every penny for runners of all levels.
Downside…I wish the races held at Ft DeSoto (in September and October) started earlier. Especially for runners in the long distance races. The morning portion is nice and shaded…but when that sun comes up around 8am…it is BRUTAL on that course. There is no shade and barely a breeze.

As a long time runner in the Florida Road Races, this race again showed why they are so good and successful. Even though the weather was warm, there was plenty of water on the course and plenty of food and drinks at the finish.
