This is a fun family run. There is is a kids run, 5k, 8k, and 12k. The t-shirts are always soft and there is trunk or treating afterwards. Once upon a time adults got a free beer or cider, now you have to pay. It is also fun to dress up like a pirate or another costume. Everyone looks like they are having a good time.

This is a fun family run. There is is a kids run, 5k, 8k, and 12k. The t-shirts are always soft and there is trunk or treating afterwards. Orca Running never fails. Whether fun time for all or endurance events with All the Hills, their events are amazing. This was no exception. Excellent volunteers and support, excellent communication, plenty of post race snacks even for those of us at the end. And I love an excuse to put together a costume! My only criticism is that, as a generalization, walkers still don’t understand “keep right” and “on your left”.

If I was to give a word of caution, this is a busy area even without an event, so expect plenty of non participants on the route and exercise patience’s.

From sign-ups to finish, this was a well-organized, well-communicated race that radiated friendliness and fun. Aid stations placed perfectly (grateful for this as didn’t want to carry anything), fun costumes to look at as I ran, lots of smiles from volunteers and participants, yet still… a challenge! 12K is an odd distance, and sure that there were lots of PR’s as lots of first times at that distance. Don’t want to go too slowly, as it’s less than 8 miles, but need to pace as it’s nearly 8 miles! Truth be told, I woke not feeling like getting out there in the 30-something degree chill to run, but was so HAPPY that I did!!

Personally I came in fifth place in the 12K and had a great run, I was very much inspired by other runners around me and the happy positive atmosphere. The morning was cold but I quickly warmed up on a clear sunny beautiful day, perfect morning for a run. I would highly recommend this run and any or all Orca Running events they are simply the best great swag and production every time. Thank you very much Orca for making my first season into running fun and memorable.

Kudos to the Orca Running team for an event well planned and organized! It was a lot of fun–especially on Halloween. One did not have to feel weird not having a pirate outfit–any costume goes at this run! Great way to kick off Halloween! The course was well marked out and the amazing volunteers did a great job helping direct runners.
I appreciated how Orca Running required and checked vaccination status of all runners. I like how the results were made available instantly (can’t stand runs where you have to hit refresh & check your screen for the rest of the day!) and photos are free. It was a fun event–loved being able to share in Captain Jack’s booty, yaaargh!
Now for the nitty gritty–wish more people wore masks and were a bit more aware at the start and finish line. Wish there were more waves to separate people and that walkers/kids were more aware to start at the back. Gear check was also hard to find–in our emails, it said to look for a truck. Ended up that’s not where the gear was kept.
This was my first Captain Jack’s Treasure Run–did the previous year, but virtually.
Swag was awesome–the medal is one of my favorites! Orca truly made it a fun event!

Orca Running did an amazing job putting on another race smoothly in spite of the ever changing circumstances caused by COVID-19. Every step of the way the process was smooth even with new requirements from the county!
The course follows a paved trail along the river which I found really relaxing. Many participants ran in costume (many more complicated than my own costume attempt) which I found really, REALLY fun!

The 5k was a nice easy loop along the Sammamish River Trail and the Bear Creek Trail. The costumes were fun to watch run past and the fall foliage was gorgeous! There were fun giveaways and good snacks at the end of the race and free race photos via email a few days later.

A fun costume race just in time for Halloween. Participants and volunteers dressed up in their best scallywag swag for a run along the Sammamish River. Bit of a narrow course on an open trail, but the normal crowds are very aware of what’s going on. And once you finish, not only do you get your normal Orca Running loot, Orca Running also gifts extra gear you can pick up.

The course has changed and now starts at the City Hall in Redmond instead of the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville. It is a fairly easy run, but I say that because I run the same trail everyday. Most everyone is in pirate costume, which makes the race take on a festive air. The fall colors are just beautiful. Nice race for an enjoyable day with the family. The production is well done by Orca Running.
