  3. March Lunacy 2020: Tournament Results

Our fourth annual March Lunacy tournament will go down as one of our best heifer!

The Final Four was an epic confrontation of familiar heavyweights, a former champ and one bullish underdog. The Cowtown upset mighty Chicago to set up a championship showdown with Patriots’ Day powerhouse Boston, which overcame fellow bucket-list favorite and 2018 winner Big Sur to reach the tournament final.

But when the dust settled there could only be one champion, and this year moo-mentum was the name of the game. So hail to the beef — we’re thrilled to congratulate our newest champion and announce that America’s Rave Race for 2020 is the pride of North Texas, The Cowtown! (Read the press release here.)

We’ll post details about our two (human) prize winners soon.

Virtual hugs and high-fives to all the races that participated and to everyone who voted in this year’s tournament, we couldn’t do this without your passionate support. And we hope this year’s tournament provided a healthy and gratifying diversion in challenging times.

Be well, take care of each other, and thanks for being part of the madness that is March Lunacy!

(With a few exceptions, seedings are based on the total number of 2019 finishers across all distances, with each of last year’s Final Four races earning the top seed in its respective region).

HOW IT WORKS: To qualify for and be automatically entered into our random drawing, you must submit your votes for any of the six rounds of the tournament from March 16 – April 6, 2020. Voting for Round One and Round Two closes at 5:00pm PDT/8:00pm EDT on Wednesday, March 18 and Sunday, March 22, respectively; voting for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds closes at 5:00pm PDT on Wednesday, March 25 and Sunday, March 29, respectively; and voting for the Final Four and Championship rounds closes at 5:00pm PDT on Thursday, April 2 and Monday, April 6, respectively.

Each participant will earn four (4) entries into our random drawing for voting in each of the first two rounds, three (3) entries for voting in each of the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds, two (2) entries for the Final Four round and one (1) entry for the Championship round. Thus, voters can earn up to 17 total entries. In addition, one prize package will be awarded at the end of the tournament to the voter who selects the most correct (winning) match-ups. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will determine the winners from among those participants with the same number of correct match-ups selected.

Each winner will receive a gift from Sun Basket: their classic 2 person/3 meal plan, including taxes & shipping (an $85 value). Sun Basket ships to most zip codes in the United States, excluding AK, HI, and parts of MT, NM, and ND. If your area is not serviced, you’ll receive a $50 VISA gift card instead. The winner who selects the most correct match-ups will also receive a $100 ROAD iD gift card; the winner from our random drawing of total entrants will receive a $50 ROAD iD gift card. Each winner will also receive their choice of a RaceRaves tech tee, singlet (women’s style only) or race hat.

On or around April 10, 2020, RaceRaves will select the prize winners and notify them by email. If a winner fails to respond and claim their prize by 11:59pm PDT on Sunday, April 26, 2020, then another winner will be randomly chosen and secure all the glory and spoils therein.

An email address is required to ensure only one entry per person per round and to notify our winners at the end of the tournament. Only legitimate email addresses will have their votes counted and be entered in the giveaway. By submitting your email address you agree to receive periodic emails (including our monthly “Off to the Races” newsletter) from RaceRaves and only RaceRaves — you can unsubscribe at any time, and we’ll never share your info with anyone. We want you all to ourselves!
