I a not a big fan of the cold; however, this race was so well organized that I tolerated the cold pretty well. I stayed at the Atlantic Sands Hotel. Left the hotel at 6:55am, got to the start at 6:56am, and started the race at 7:01am. The location was PERFECT. Sufficient aid stations and nice crowd support. I’m not a lover of trail running but the trail wasn’t bad at all. The expo was great with just the right vendors that I wanted. The after party was fun. Overall, a great race.

The Madison Marathon was a nice race. I thought there were too many hills for my liking and the 2nd half was a bit tougher than the 1st half. I can’t blame the course for me not training on more hills. There were plenty of aid stations, nice crowd support, ran through wonderful neighborhoods at times, and the weather was good except for some light rain the 2nd half of the race. The hotel options were great and I was able to walk 2 blocks to the start and finish of the race.

This has to be one of my favorite races so far. I signed up for the challenge: 1 miler, 5K and Marathon. It did not disappoint. The race was exceptionally organized; the hotel was 2 blocks to the marathon start and finish. Tons of aid stations and crowd support. Beautiful running on the bridge into Canada and the tunnel back into Detroit. The courses were wonderful and pretty flat. My only “gripe” was for the 1 miler and 5K, if you plan to run those races, start close to the front. People started out by walking in groups and it was difficult to get around anyone for quite some time. Other than that, a fantastic must do race.
