This race was near the waste water station, which we ran past twice. The course stunk. It was a pretty race, along the river and through a park. I finished at 3 hours 30 seconds and was disappointed they were already packing up snacks and no one was there to hand me my medal, I just found the medals on a table and took one.

This race was a challenge for me, the first half was a climb. I was bummed the wild horses weren’t there but the views were still beautiful. Love the medal and the placing medals were very unique as they were horseshoes from the wild horses. Fun festival the day before and day of with a beer garden, live music, vendors, food trucks and more.

There was nice community support throughout the race. Managed to come in last and 3rd place for my age group so I got two awards! Loved the swag. Very small race – about 150 people. Clearly there’s a great running community here, everyone seemed to know each other and everyone cheered others on as they passed by in the race.

The course had nice views of vineyards and hot air balloons. The course contained rolling hills which was difficult paired with the hot weather and several potholes throughout the course. There were several options to get to the start, I opted to be dropped off rather than shuttling. A downside to this is the race started late due to the amount of people still being shuttled in – the race had stated there was a strict 6:00am cutoff but this clearly wasn’t the case. We started the race in waves, I didn’t cross the start line until 7:20am. There was awesome community support from local vineyards throughout the run. The wine festival was a ton of fun but being a slow runner, I missed out on some wine as the wineries had run out of all they brought and the lines were so long at each tasting. Overall, I think the race was too big and as a result, the race production is negatively impacted.

I picked up my bib on the first available day, Friday and waited in line for 15ish minutes. I heard from others who picked theirs up on Saturday they waited in line for 2-3 hours! This was the largest race I’ve done so I was confused by the corral and wished I could’ve gotten more answers on what to expect. Beautiful course with great volunteers and community support. There were a few slight hills – total elevation gain according to my watch was 113 feet.

This race was an amazing experience but had some major flaws in my opinion: the road was not completely closed off so drivers were on the road, honking at runners to get out of the way, there were not enough porta-potties so around the halfway mark they were overflowing, volunteers stopped assisting water stations around hour two so they became self-serve, someone had a medical emergency and there was no first aid available and it took approximately 20 minutes for emergency services to arrive.

This was my first half marathon and it helped me realize my love for running! The course was beautiful and was a nice course for a first-timer. There was a lot of community support and the after race celebration was great.
