Most of the course is a gentle downhill which is perfect if you ask me. Everyone seems to be going for a BQ.
Around mile 20 you come close to the finish line before heading away on the quietest most boring part of the race which is really tough mentally.
Was very disappointed that the beer at the finish line was not included but otherwise the event was well organized and one I will likely do again since i came up short in my effort to get a BQ time.

Very flat course completely contained inside the gorgeous El Dorado Regional Park. Parking steps from the start/finish if you pay to enter the park or a short warm up jog away for free in the neighborhood nearby.
Lavish pancake breakfast afterwards including in your entry, sponsored by a local restaurant. Great for the kids too with multiple youth events. Great family atmosphere not surprising since this event benefits a local k-8 public school.

great event. get there early since it is a big race so parking can be tough. there are some shopping plaza’s within a half mile ish of the start that dont seem to mind you parking there since you are going to be gone before 90% of their businesses even open for the day.

I have done the stroller race a couple times, so nice to have your own race when pushing the kids when normally i am weaving in and out of walkers etc. amazing that a few guys will go sub 40 while pushing kids in the stroller run 10k. course is pretty but has a really tough hill towards the end (especially tough when pushing a stroller) and really doesnt have much if any flat ground the whole course.
beer flows freely at the beer garden afterwards and while the post race area can get a little cramped, it works really well for a race this size.

course is boring, you run by Knotts, but not really through it, and in the 10k you do two loops of the second half of the race around a neighborhood. relatively flat at least and good food and such at the post race including slices of knotts boysenberry pie.
parking is very easy, basically at the start line.
no crowd issues since it is not a huge race

I had no energy in my legs from the beginning.  At mile three I was already tired when I should have been just getting loose and starting to enjoy the crowd thinning out a little.  I knew I was putting too much effort into what I was getting which meant that the next 3 hours were mostly miserable.  If I had gone out with some slower people and just treated it like a fun training run I could have had the same time but enjoyed it and felt good, as it was I thought about stopping completely several times (I walked a lot) and if there had been a way to get to the finish line without running there I likely would have taken it and the DNF.  If not for the excellent crowd support throughout the race I doubt I would have finished it.

The race is a great tour of la, the communities come out and support it, organization is excellent, I will run it again when I don’t care about time and just enjoy it, would highly recommend it to a first timer due to the crowd support and scenery, but the hills in the first 6 miles in particular make it a tougher than avg race.
