Martha’s Vineyard was a nice place to visit. People were very nice. However logistics were crazy! The emails all said the same updates but no assistance on how to maneuver through parking for the ferry if you did not stay on the island. Luckily we did a dry run the day before and went to packet pick up (apparently also smart rather than getting bib sent to us because we may not have gotten it). I’m pretty travel savvy but I had to ask locals our options for morning of to get on the 6:00 am ferry. Then no buses. No one monitoring or guiding people. First buses crammed in with everyone from runners, to family members and half marathoners ( who could’ve taken a later bus). I got disconnected from my friend, and she didn’t make it to the start until later. The poor drivers seemed to be clueless, but it would’ve been nice to have them announce “these are for full marathoners first!” And of course have many more buses. The line to pick up bibs and use a porta potty at the start area was crazy. I waited until after the last wave, (with someone I met on the shuttle who’s boyfriend was left behind too) and still no friend so we just took off.
I believe this all may be due to not enough volunteers, as the aid stations were sparsely manned. I can’t imagine if I was in the fast groups and how they kept up.
I’m always use to having barely food or beverages left by the time I cross the line. I don’t drink beer and there was no more mimosas.
A shout out to the sweet girl who worked at the merchandise tent (she was so positive), the start line dude with dreads was a blast, and the nice guy who manned aid station at the 2 mile.
The course was serene and pleasant, the ocean views at the end would’ve been prettier if weather cooperated more.
Shuttle buses to return to the ferry were not there so we had to pay for a regular bus to get there. So inconvenient for a tired, wet, old body. If it weren’t for new friends that had cash this would’ve been more miserable.
Well it’s done. If you want to do this one and can afford it, I’d suggest staying on the vineyard, bring your car,

Although it was foggy, this boasts an Oceanside marathon and it is actually that! The Oceanside homes and rocky views were truly gorgeous!!! I did an early start at 6:30 and so glad they offered that option after my poor performance in Little Rock post Covid. I would’ve made it in time but I think being able to relax about it allowed me to totally enjoy it! Swag was mediocre but not a necessity for me to evaluate this great race! Great volunteers, town support, and after party food. (Yet no chocolate milk). One late race water stop ran out of cups, I felt bad for those after me where I normally would be and sooooo need water at that time. The hills were as expected with a few large ones in the 2nd half. Good organization and marked course. Thank you Rhode Island for my state #47!!

So nice to feel the fun of an expo pre-pandemic style. So much fun!!! Got me in the mood. They described the course accurately, the hill being a killer. This was to be my 46th state for my 50th quest, fortunately I figured out to get myself moving to make it in the time by mile 19, before being taken off the course. I was able to complete it by the skin of my teeth. If I would’ve known how Covid in January would’ve affected my breathing I would’ve signed up for the early start and walked the majority. I’m a slow runner, but have never taken that long to finish.
Fortunately the volunteers were so helpful and encouraging right up until the very end. I didn’t feel like they were rushing to close things down. Beads, lipstick, pins, shots all there to enjoy!!! Then the medal… well we all know the medal!
The post race food was blah, but all I care about is the chocolate milk (which was there!!) but something pastry or bread type would’ve been nice.
Such a great event. Little Rock sure embraces this race. I wish I could’ve performed better, but I’m just glad it is done.

I know this is a wonderful, flat, scenic course! The start was beautiful! I saw many running friends and enjoyed my time there. The after party I also know was fun, but did not get to experience it as I was too wet to stay and already checked out if my hotel. I loved there was plenty of food for us slower runners. The cinder trail probably would have been excellent if it wasn’t a mud bath. And slow runners went even slower fighting against dodging puddles, not slipping in the mud and sideways rain. My sister and her husband both BQ’d!!! Rehoboth is a cute town that really embraces this race!!

It’s really too bad the marathon ended with such disappointment after a solid, well organized race (from expo, start, nice flat route, many water stops & enthusiastic volunteers).
I was a little panicky about the weather being from upper Michigan leaving my warm and water resistant gear at home. But handled the light rain, then peeks of sun and a little wind that often was at my back. It’s good it was not hot and sunny as there was no shade to speak of. I did not have bathroom issues (thank goodness). Good thing because I really don’t remember true porta potties anywhere except mile 2.
The expo was small but those groups that were there were enthusiastic! The start was well organized and I appreciated the ability to stay dry and warm in the huge convention center. The course was not hard but I’m a slow runner, and also had a slower than usual time waiting for my friends to bring me my traditional mile 20 fireball shot. Lol!.. Medal was nice!
Ok now let’s discuss this post race. Apples, 2 pieces of bread (not even anything special about it). No chocolate milk and the supposed “beer garden” was pay to drink even for those who ran??? I think there was water in cups, but I just got done drinking water and Gatorade for the past 5 hours. I know this race will get some flack for this, as I haven’t heard anyone compliment that aspect even those that finished well before me, so it’s not like they really ran out, it’s all that was offered. Hopefully future races they can turn that around or just plan to have your friends and family bring a well stocked cooler for the end!

This was very slow for me even as an already slow runner. I had just run a marathon the weekend before and decided to walk a lot.
The course goes through nice neighborhoods, the nice parts of downtown, over the Falls, and along the river through the majority. Not one area was “Sketchy”. The medal was OK, the lightweight hoodie was nice (but I’m also glad I have the 1/4 zip shirt from last year’s cancelled race.) The expo was small but efficient. The volunteers were all great at every water stop. It seems the police and the city in general embrace this race.
I always recommend to all races to have an extra water stop near 24 and 25 miles. It seems like forever at the end and particularly with the heat.
Post race had ice cream bars!!! And I love any race that has another option than beer! And of course chocolate milk( however they had the chocolate milk on the table in the sun so it was not very cold. Maybe keep in ice coolers.
All in all a solid race and well run. I enjoyed the time and meeting new running friends!

Can’t do much about the weather. It was not cold nor pouring rain or windy, but it did rain everyday we were there. The awesome views of the mountains were less spectacular. August is rainy season.
So far I don’t know my actual time because there has been no results sent to me nor posted or updated on the website??? So far no opportunity to give that race feedback. Sorry if this is inappropriate to write here, but I was a little put off and surprised to watch one of 2 women Pacers, step off to the side of the trail, stand and pull her shorts over and urinate standing up. (Not behind a tree, or bush or even at least a few yards off, But right NEXT to the trail) I understand the urgency if you have to go, but there were woods everywhere!!!

The positives: The race was a nice course all along the coastline or Chester Creek trail. I did get to see a moose and her calf! The tech shirt is ok, kind of a silly design making it not that wearable to many places. The medal is very nice.
I loved hearing Bart Yasso on the phone to start the race! Post race had nice options except I had to tell my friend go find chocolate milk from a hotel lobby. Grilled cheese and big cookies were great. I was disappointed I could not get a seltzer at the finish, (yes I did not read the fine print that I needed my license). It was explained to me later why Alaska requires an ID for everyone when I did go to Humpy’s that evening. I would hope at packet pick up that the ID could be checked and a wristband or something marked on our bibs for post race. This is how many other races handle it… I don’t carry my ID with me during a race.
Otherwise a very nice race, good volunteers, a few musicians playing, well marked, and good post race options!

I’m a Yooper and would not have thought about MISH for a race I would sign up for. It was all in all a mediocre half. My friend did not like the amount of time spent in the highway and roads for the full. It was well organized and I did place in my age group which has never happened before. Little options for post race nutrition. Nice medal.

I was a little worried about the downhill, (my 4th downhill that kills my quads every time) but I enjoyed listening to Coach Paul’s Facebook updates that did help me get a better state of mind. Such a well run event. Revel Races should take over Rock N Rolls for putting on a marathon.

Expo had fun photo opps, great Revel products to purchase and good vendors! The race itself was so nicely managed from the buses to the start (nice buses), start line encouragement, to great course safety with cones the entire way and police escorts for opposing traffic! Water stops were plenty except I would’ve liked one extra one at mile 25. The finish line food was good (I’m happy just with chocolate milk) The medal was beautiful but I’m also a crazy turtle lady! ..And they had another option than beer at the beer tent! Shuttles back to the strip were very convenient. Oh and did I mention free photos? What race does that? Had a blast with running friends for a quick weekend in Vegas! This was my Nevada for 50 states and state 41. Very pleased I held out for 2 years of postponements to run this!

Organized, small race. Small packet pick up but some nice marathon items to purchase. I live in snow country so the stocking hat was fun. Great morning sunrise and weather! I just love starting right next to the ocean. For many they would think that’s boring the whole race, but I enjoy that. Not many fans, but then there’s the ocean. The out and back in the highway was not very fun, I would love to have started further west and avoid that concrete grind and go directly to the stadium.
The post race was so so. They had BBQ that was getting scary looking by the time I came in and soup which does not sound appetizing at all. And I’m never excited about the only option of beer. The medal however was very cool and I didn’t realize the crab opens up until weeks later at home.
Biloxi was a nice town, but if you don’t want to gamble there is nothing there to do at that time of year. My husband was excited for a fish trip but it was off season when the race is scheduled.
This is a good race for 50 staters and for me was a last moment decision to go as my 40th state.

Expo was normal for the covid era we are in, yet not impressed being slightly badgered by the water filter guy. I don’t want someone selling me something for my home at a sporting event expo. I wish he actually had water to pass out. Course was actually prettier than I expected although more rolling hills than I expected on the paved trail between mile 8-15 out and back. All the aid stations were well placed and great volunteers. I dressed up in a Dorothy costume so I got great fellow runner feedback and race volunteer motivation. I was pretty slow, but I did have Toto in a basket in tow. Due to covid this was postponed from April and I don’t know what the Emerald City celebration was suppose to be like as they felt they needed to cancel the after party. The finish was lack luster with minimal post race food and NO chocolate milk. I compared this to a very successful after party recently at Hartford CT with prepared food bags, beer tent, live music in a very spread out environment. I was a little more hopeful there would be a little more “hoopla” at the finish. It is a solid race for my 50 state endeavor. Oh and a helpful man at the expo entrance names Kelly suggested I go to the ymca for a shower, since I needed to check out of my hotel. It was perfect!!!

Although I didn’t have the time I would’ve hoped considering it was not a difficult course, I enjoyed the entire race. I had recently come off a completely downhill course and I think my muscle memory made me start out slower than I usually do and I then continued to run slower(I’ve never been able to do negative splits.lol) But this race was so enjoyable. Great swag, fun but (covid) small expo, organized start, top notch volunteers, great water stops, road closures, and the finish is epic! They had a spread out finish area, and a nice drawstring bag for our post race food so you weren’t grabbing things off tables. And the post race band was really good, (I did come in early enough to catch their last few songs). They had an alternative to beer which always makes me happy. One other surprise I figured out while running through the residential section 18-24 was that mailboxes had a bag with a cowbell so residents could cheer us on! I figured it out that those who weren’t home the bells were still hanging (and filled with rain water). What a cool idea! The community embraces this race. And of course the medal is beautiful too.

Although this course was to be downhill and fast and for most of the runners that was the case. I’m a slower runner to begin with and the downhill on the 2nd half caught up to me. But it was absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed the support of the Race director, and his volunteers were wonderful! Well organized small town race!!! Although many would not consider this course difficult due to its downhill nature, if you are not from the area and live at sea level, the altitude will impact your performance. Yes it was also unprecedented heat, but that did not seem bad as the majority was in the shade for me or it seemed that way. Yes my legs were tired but I felt panicky every time I would exert myself so I walked the last 1/5th. The race was organized, expo was nice (nice to finally attend one post covid), and the water stops were appropriate. The views were beautiful. Many complained about the late start, but I didn’t notice. The busing to the start was very organized and they had plenty of port a potties!!💩 if you are a post race party lover type, beware there is not a drop of alcohol to be found, which would be expected to where the race was.
Overall this is a great race, just not that great for me

So glad I choose this for my Tennessee, I became a hero and raised money. The organization was top notch!! Expo was nice and everyone is friendly! The entire city embraces this race. So many even who were not volunteers would thank us for running.
My only complaint, is they ran out of things at the post race party (how can you run out of chocolate milk, and there were still many runners coming in) and offered only beer.
The course is not all that pretty. The riverfront is not very clean and many areas looked run down.😞 Beale Street was suppose to be a cool place to go, but we were very uncomfortable when we went on a Friday, approached by homeless, and beggars following us for an entire block. It was sad but have us a bad taste of Memphis.

I was expecting corn fields, but the course wound around some beautiful neighborhoods with great crowd support. The park area was also very pretty. This is a top notch marathon for how easy it was to attend the expo, very organized start and finish. I loved having the Truly option post race, rather than just beer. Tons of food! Lots of law enforcement making the traffic safe. Hills were a surprise at mile 5-7, but at least out of the way early.

We were lucky with the weather, early start helped. Volunteers at all water stations were awesome! Nice medal! Tech shirt is a little heavy. Post party was awesome. I was not thrilled with the expo however. Not that there was not enough there, but it was too small of a venue! No parking! People were angry with each other trying to get to the event. I was going to do the beer run, but it was so congested, I about had it. Caras park was fine for the post race, but I think an inside with large parking lot would’ve been better for the expo.

I don’t drink beer but there were a few Fireball stops.❤️ 2018 was very cold, I thought traveling 1100 miles south it would be warm, but no! The extra bling for the shortest ultra was fun and with Jell-O shots! I did not like the post race. This would’ve been a great race for me. I’m a slow runner & would’ve appreciated the flat course. But that wind got me. I was exhausted & very frustrated with the wind. It almost blew me over twice. I didn’t look around at scenery because I had to keep my head down. I did not have my usual pains (back, hip or feet), but my upper back was so tired from pushing myself. Ha Ha.

How can you not like see whales as you run? The second half of course was harder but also more beautiful because it was light. First 10 miles for me was before sunrise, so can’t see scenery that way. Special all weekend for marathoners, like the dinner cruise! Love the shirt designs from the local artist unique each year!
