Courses
Full and Half Marathons: Beginning and ending at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the half marathon will head east on Pikes Peak Ave, pass by the Fallen FireFighter memorial into Memorial Park, past the Velodrome, around Prospect Lake, and back towards downtown on Pikes Peak. Runners will then drop into America the Beautiful Park. From there the route will head north on the Greenway Trail through Monument Valley Park. The Greenway Trail is approximately 15 feet wide, cement for the first mile and hard pack pea gravel for the next two miles. The route runs the length of Monument Valley Park and enters the historic Old North End neighborhood, winding along Wood Ave, down Cascade Ave, and through Colorado College before a fast finish down Colorado and Vermijo. The full marathon will follow the route described above but will travel further north along the Greenway Trail, approximately 6.5 miles before turning back around.
The 5K will start 5 minutes following the start of the full and half marathons. The 5K route will also travel east on Pikes Peak before turning around and heading to America the Beautiful Park with a fast finish on Colorado and Vermijo Even with a start time 5 minutes after the half marathon start, 5K runners should be back to the Pioneers Museum in time to cheer on family and friends while they finish their full and half marathon distances.

Nice race overall and I would recommend it. The expo was small. We got a bib and our race shirt in a gear check bag. The course was out and back with a few inclines, nothing really bad. It was mostly on a paved bike path but there was a stretch of gravel. We did have to share the course with bikes and other folks not participating in the race. Aid stations with water, and Gatorade were well placed. There was bananas, chips water and Gatorade at the finish. I love the medal.
I would recommend this race.

Disclaimer: I flew out from sea level California the day before to run this race. So, the race was certainly difficult for me, but mostly due to not being used to the thin air. That being said…
This was a great race, very well organized and produced. The race expo was quite small with very few participants in a small room, which surprised me but no big deal. I thought the shirt was just OK but the medal WAS AWESOME (and I care more about medals anyway). Beautiful, colorful with thoughtful details. And FREE medal engraving! A unique touch.
As for the course, about half of it was on hard packed dirt and the rest pavement. I appreciated the hard packed dirt as it was easier on the joints. The half was out and back, 6.55 miles and turn around. I appreciated that there was a timing mat at the turnaround – no cheating! The course itself was nice, decent scenery on a cycling/running trail.
I doubled this race with Boulderthon which was the next day, These races aren’t always on the same weekend though. I was very happy to run this race and would run it more frequently if I lived in Colorado. Highly recommend!

I wasn’t prepared for how much trail this race was but it was definitely beautiful, fun, well supported and had one of the best medals ever plus free delicious pizza at the finish! The elevation was more than I expected as well but I should have know that given k live in Colorado.
Highly recommend

This was an in-and-out course (so 13.1 miles one way and then turn around to run the remaining 13.1 miles). The course was a mix of asphalt, gravel, and dirt. There were next-to-no flat areas because the course was hilly. I did much better than I thought I would because the weather got hot and I’m not used to running in the CO elevation. I’m glad there were aid stations every 2-ish miles!
The expo was small and I wish there were vendors. I really loved the shirt and medal! I’m also glad my friend in CO was able to come out to see me!
Scenic race, easy logistics.
Great aid stations and volunteers, had Gatorade and water, some had gels. Coincidental parachutists this year, AF Thunderbirds in 2022. With about 300 runners I felt I was running alone … MORE

With about 300 runners I felt I was running alone some of the time.
No expo to speak of, but pickup was fast and efficient.
Awesome!

The marathon and half marathon were sent out together, and remained on the same track for about 12 miles. Even so, the course never felt crowded. Although the weather was quite chilly and foggy at the start, by the time I reached mile 3 it had cleared up enough so that I was able to see Pikes Peak for the reminder of the race. Absolutely breathtaking! My favorite part of the course ran by the Olympic training center and through America the Beautiful Park. The finishers medal is easily one of my favorites. I highly recommend this race!

I decided to run this race about 5 days prior to race day, even though it’s been on my list to try for a few years. Pre-race communication was clear and straightforward and packet pickup was clearly organized and easy to find and navigate. The course was beautiful, highlighting many great features of downtown Colorado Springs. Mile markers were clearly visible, the course was wide enough that I never felt cramped, even on the dirt trails and the volunteers were amazing! Everyone was friendly and supportive! The police officers on the course were very friendly and encouraging and kept us runners safe with all of the streets they blocked off throughout the course. The medal and tech shirts were awesome, some of my favorites that I’ve seen. This was my 25th half marathon and I am so glad that I chose the Colorado Springs Half Marathon to celebrate this exciting personal milestone. I will absolutely recommend this race to friends and fellow runners, and look forward to running again next year (maybe for the full)!
