This was a great race celebration to start the summer, and the weather was perfect! Race was all on the grounds for the Minnesota State Fair and the location of the Kickoff to Summer Festival. Your entry got you into the event, a trip down the big slide and fair ticket for the State Fair later in the summer. You also got a tri-blend shirt, breakfast sandwich and of course some milk.

The race was good, but the shuttle to the start was late. I boarded the shuttle at the time suggested, but it took 30 minutes to go 3 miles to the start. I would suggest an area to drop off shuttle riders that is not mixed in with the people parking in the garage. This caused a major backup.

The packet pick up was very well organized and did not take too long. The weather was great and the course was flat. The only disappointing part was that it was still daylight when most runners ran through the Christmas light display portion of the race. If they had started 30-45 minutes later, it would have been a lot better.

The course was nice with good scenery and the swag was very nice. The bad parts were that there were long lines at packet pick up, not enough bathrooms at the start or water stops and more long lines for after race food. For the cost of the race, I don’t think I would do it again.

I love the flexibility of running different length races and joining or leaving the series as your schedule allows.
