Opening caveat ~ weather was terrible and influenced both my experience and my performance. I’m a Florida girl so running in 51degrees and steady rain for 90% of this race was, well, um, not cool. And also something the organizers can’t control.
There is a pretty steep, long hill late in Mile 1 – Mile 2. Thank goodness it’s there and not later in the run. (Did I mention, I’m a Florida girl …we don’t have hills, just bridges.) There was also a muddy loop about Mile 8 that probably wasn’t 1 mile long but seems like 5 miles. This trashed everyone’s shoes I expect … it did mine.
Good amount of water/electrolytes available on course. Some of the mile markers seemed off from my watch (& I feel like there were some missing on the Lake Washington Blvd out route, but I may just have been distracted talking to a fellow runner).
The size of this race was pretty much ideal for the course (I think there were a lot of no-shows due to the weather). It was never a crush of people. Overall a good race … just bad weather.

That’s not a typo. The race was well organized. Flat, flat, flat except the bridge. But while you would think the extended portions on the boardwalk would be scenic, I found them to be boring and a tough mental game. Weather was perfect on our race day. There is no expo … just a packet pick-up. Good shirt, but no other swag.

Post race was jam-packed … I couldn’t handle it in the cold so didn’t stay – can’t comment on the quality of the party. 3 hills, 1 longggg one; none unmanageable.

This small run is almost entirely in a state park so scenery consists of southeastern coastal scrub bushes. It’s okay … just not much variation in scenery. It is also not spectator friendly for the first 11 miles. Well organized though and flat,flat,flat except for the cruel bridge at mile 11.5-ish. I had my 2nd best time ever (with my PR being 9 years ago & pretty unattainable for me now).
